nassau has a very good track record. plus, the skid was found in less than 10 minutes. lets not get started on how many "suspects" slipped out of police custody...., city, nassau, and suffolk. and see, they still get contracts.

i think we should start chaining them to the walls.
Something like this can happen at any time over at NUMC. By the way where was their people while this was going on in broad daylight. I guess it must be comforting to know that at anytime anyone can just walk out of a hospital without anyone noticing.
This officer is a GOOD OFFICER and this was an unfortunate mistake. However it all turned out good!
Maybe its time we rework our procedures for hospital posts as well as pregnant females.
Maybe an inmate in the hospital should wear a gown different from the ordinary hospital patient.
Lets just correct the mistakes and move on.
By the way, Where is our CONTRACT!!!

Let's see....you get paid to guard prisoners.
You let one go at the hospital and she was on the loose.
You made reference above to the N....word
You suggested we "chain them to the walls"
You are asking "where was their people when this was going on"?
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT HOSPITAL STAFF?
Then you repeat your demands to have a contract!!!!
As a taxpayer, I want Tom Suozzi to look at a private company which would cost us much less and not lose prisoners. Plus they don't cry a quarter as much as you babies do!
Get a real job and stop the whining! Good thing you people aren't cops!

"First off, ANYONE can write on here just like you did jerkoff, so as far as questioning what was writen on here, don't!! And it was a good question--where were their people??? Most of them are skids and one most likely helped her out. And instead of helping--like calling security--some a$$hole called News 12!!! They should be chained to the walls, but we can't do our jobs because some skid will sue the county if she trips and hurts the baby, nevermind the fact that she is a herion addict!!!! It wouldn't have happened if we operated a 2 person post like ALL other law inforcement officers do!!! I guess thats just the countys way of saving money at the expense of the publics safety. Just some things for you to chew on "taxpayer" before you shoot off your mouth to Suozzi.
who gives a rats ass what that fat pig has to say. c.o's do a great job, as far as a private company, why dont you do some research on all the facts, like how many escapes have they had......instead of playing armchair warrior. p.s. those jeans do make you look fat, and the girls at the bustop dont think you are sexy with gravy stains on your wifebeater undershirt......forget chains to the wall, lets use taxpayer $$ to build a dungeon for these inmates.

I am not blaming the hospital staff BUT The area in the hospital where this inmate was housed is supposed to be a secured area. Someone let this inmate out, probably not knowing who she was. This inmate could not be cuffed or shackled because she was pregnant. This should be a two officer post for this reason. When we took over the post there were two nassau cops on it but only one correction officer. Unfortunately while in the hospital inmates are patients first which compromises security. Inmate should wear bright orange hospital gowns while in the hospital. But that violates their rights. If they don't like it they should stop breaking the law. ...................the list goes on!

Forget about hospital security. They have no bearing on the situation. Besides, they bagged the last guy to walk (remember the pw?).
The real issue is, why are we are the only department that assigns one officer to the hospital? PD, deps, and rikers all send two officers. We send two on "outside" posts (winthrop, north-shore,etc). If you're by yourself watching a skid on the 12th floor, you might as well be on an "outside post." We all know that you're on your own. Putting a crazy bitch in a room with NO restraints is a problem waiting too happen. I won't go into the details on this site. Shame on us for letting the ivory tower get away with it all these years. Remember when they wouldn't let hacks carry weapons at NCMC?
I think the tower wants this to go away quietly as to not direct too much attention on their policies and lack of SOPs. They will still burn the officer, however . He will appeal and get his time back, but until then will carry a black mark on his record.
This is a good opportunity to hit the streets. Not to protest the contract situation, but to highlight the threat to health and safety to our personnel this lack of staffing represents. And I don't want to hear "They can do that." The only way "they can do that" is if WE let them. And we've done it far too long.
The time is long overdue, PRIVITIZE the nassau county corrections department.

like a previous post stated, do the research on privatization. As for money issues, you the Nassau taxpayer should demand the legislators do what they are elected and paid to do, make sure your tax dollars are used to benifit you, yes YOU the Nassau resident.
Some of you people posting on this site make me laugh. I never see anything about all those DPW workers huddled together for a power lunch 5 times a day. How about we try this, the legislators donate a portion of their pay to a needy cause. Hummmm, how about we try to help the homeless vet, who fought to keep you free, free to type your bs false comments on sites like these. It is amazing how many arm chair financial wizards are there to show how the co's, the sheriff, and whoever else makes the news is wasting their money. Look in your own backyard, it needs raking
Like I said in my earlier post. They need to make all inmates on outside posts wear some type of identifier on their hospital gowns as well as make all outside posts 2 men posts. We all know that you cant and shouldnt count on the hospital staff to watch our inmates. The nurses hate us and some of them would probably rat us out if we left our post even for a second.
So here we have a inmate and we cant chain her foot to the bed. Totally crazy! Get a longer chain so it can reach the bathroom.
The next time we may not be as lucky.
Carlos wants to know why the OEM was alerted!!!!!

Maybe that's because the DPW guys don't spill their guts, hearts and souls to everyone who can read and has a computer in Nassau County.
I never knew more crap about inside a correction facility until I started reading this laundry list of whining. Not to mention, you people are a bad mix of bullies, harassers, bigots, racist, and a few good intelligent folks.
You are ruining youselves here by allowing us all to see iside your secret empire!
BE QUIET ALREADY!!!
Thats because DPW workers haqve no idea how to use a computer!!!!
