Though the number has dwindled in the past few years, I won't to know what County GOP officials some of our members like. No insults are mena cooments, just one's you like(current)
This post goes to all board members, including people like Pollster(like to know if he likes any, there must be at least 1)
Keep it civil, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anythhing at all.

I like the Legislators, particularly Peter Schmitt, who has grown into an excellent minority leader and an effective backbencher. Pontillo & Ciotti are personal favorites as well. Gee, we really do not have many people left besides legislators. Dillon is an effective and competent district attorney, but he is not a "partisan" politician in the traditional sense, and performs a quasi-judicial role with distinction and class. I am also very proud of our entire State Senate delegation and our Assemblypeople who fight the good fight despite being in the minority. And our judges are very good.

Two EL's in particular:
Lou Savinetti - the good sense to step away from public office when it conflicted with attainment of his professional goals - would make an excellent low key leader. My first choice.
Jim Moriarity - Long Beach. Like how he exploits the corruption on behalf of reform - but is handicapped by the GOP's own brand of corruption and opposition to his ideas. Plus they perrenially underfund the campaigns in this community. My second or third choice.
Phil Guarneri - just so plain honest, would be a refreshing breeze. Again, my second or third choice.
Really can't think of any others, even among the new guys who are largely such duds it's unbelievable.
Especially detestable are those leaders who do not even reside in the community they supposedly lead.
Now, would you care to reveal your choices, or simply choose to discredit mine?

I agree with you about Moriarity. I think he is smart and aggresive. I thought he ran one hell of a race down in LB in 2k. Came close. Maybe next time he will win a seat or two.
Guarneri is another nice guy, and has the brains too.
I am also a fan of Degrace. Always freindly, remembers who you are. Calls it like he see's it. Not shy about criticizing when he sees fault.
Even though I know we disagree, I think Fuschillo is a good guy. he does work the community hard. Had good numbers in areas the GOP has done poorly in.
I also think Coshignano is a another good candidate.
See, we can agree on some things, sometimes. I actually know you, and I know you are a smart guy. When we keep the personal insults out, you make some valid points.
And I didn't even try to discredit you.

What about Cavallaro?

Isn't that the guy who's forcing the Town of North Hempstead to spend $3,346,050 to conduct a referrendum on Councilmatic Districts in which about 1,000 eligible voters will participate instead of waiting until the next local election.
He's just another Gulotta/Mondello/Cairo/Santino/Guardino Republican
See you in November Mr. Peter.
As for progressive, well let's see him denounce the GOP bigwigs and call for internal party reforms. Walk the walk.

Peter Cavallaro, is probably the single most ethical person in politics, gives his time and money and asks nothing in return. Believes strongly in Republican principals and is one of the brightest stars in the organization. No one works harder on either side. The party would be well served in considering him as the next County Chairman. F.Y.I. he doesn't bluff easy either, as some of you well know.

He is an elected paid trustee of the Village of Westbury as well as leader of the Westbury GOP and ToNH GOP.
Doesn't he have some sort of state job?
Selfless, he's not.
He has the distinction of being the only Republican town leader to lose EVERY elected position in his area of responsibility.
Very effective indeed.

ToNH Wag, you're right on. While I do not begrudge him his trustee pay assuming he shows up and does the job, he has been nothing but a loser except for the races that are gimmes (Balboni, Maureen OConnell and Nicolello). He even lost a race this year that should have been a lay-up with Pataki at the top of the ticket. No, I think he's pissing in the wind. No Republican in North Hempstead will be elected any time soon, with our without Cavallaro.

Umm, did you miss the first post on this thread. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
If we won't to bitch and complain about people, there are many other threads that can handle that.

Wow, just think of whom Mondello has sacrificed away in the last 4 years because of his obsession with the Town of Hempstead: Gulotta, Parola, O'Shea and soon to be Karen Murphy as Clerk. Its amazing to think that just 4 years ago the Nassau Gop had all 5 county-wide offices. Only Dillon remains--and he is Republican in name only, as we all know. It will be a long time before they can say that again! Oh, and don't forget he failed to put up a good candidate for Judge of the Surrogate Court when Ray Radigan retired and lost all that legal pork for the party!

The GOP is only to blame for The Surrogate's race in 2000 b/c they did not permit cross endorsement of Radigan. The race in 2000 was an unprecedented Gore/Lieberman landslide in Nassau. Countywide GOP candidates simply weren't viable that year.
