Strike One: DWI
Strike Two: Leaving the scene of accident
Strike Three: Impersonation of a Police Officer
Now there's a hat trick even I can appreciate. I guess I have to handover my strike out crown to Tom Suozzi.
Director of Facilities Management for Nassau County Division of Public Works, another suozzi political appointee, William Jantzen from guess where???? Glen Cove arrested for DWI and leaving the scene of an accident. Claimed to be a Deputy Police Commissioner for the Nassau County Poice Department. NOT!!!! How surprising.

On behalf of the criminal bar of Nassau County,I'd like to thank the Suozzi administration for once again proving that while it might like to keep county work inside the county attorney's office, its personnel do really believe in keeping criminal defense attorneys employed.
Even better, they take things relatively minor and foolish and really do their best to make them worse. So Kudos to you Suozzi, for selecting people that who, when they break the law, proceed to try and cover up by doing other huge stupendously stupid things. Now there maybe some who don't believe that is typical suozzi employee pattern but those who follow the mishaps and adventures of those in the suozzi administration know better.
Once again, speaking for the criminal defense lawyers in Nassau County, thanks Mr. Suozzi, your support means alot to us. Who knows, we may even give you a discount when you're indicted.

At least he won't have to worry about losing his car. Nobody at the County Attorneys office has a clue about how to take a car under the new DWI forfeiture law they wrote themselves. That's the new Suozzi drunk-dream-team-member car security program. Suozzi's people like Courbois and Jantzen can drive drunk with the comfort of knowing that the other idiots who Suozzi put in the County Attorneys office couldn't take a drunk driver's car if their life depended upon it.
Now if Tommy would only make them all Deputy Police Commissioners, his people wouldn't be getting arrested for lying to the police when they say they are.

As with other Suozzi henchman:
1.) Janzen was an "a_ _" kisser who followed Suozzi around never doing his real job.
2.) Janzen, as with this type employee, "claimed" a personnel relationship with Suozzi.
3.) Janzen apparently had to deal with this fatal flaw using other medications, i.e. drink and fabrications.

Suozzi's so called professional appointees have really failed him. Benrubi- DWI, Courbois-DWI, Cunningham-disasterous and embarassing run for suffolk CE, whch ruined Suozzi's relationship with Suffolk demorats, the fumblings of Lorna Goodman/Liz Botwin/Glenn Borrin, the unprofessional antics of Henry Dashowitz...and of course Peter Sylver.
Suozzi wanted "professionals" from the private sector to help him "save" Nassau from the financial ruin caused by the political cronyism of the GOP machine. All he wound up with (and us as taxpayers) are a bunch of non-professional ass kissers that don't know a thing about politics, public image, and keeping their own asses out of trouble. Running a government is a public endeavor, not a private party!! Someone should have explained that to these professional morons.
its at the point where one asks- what or who is next, not will there be anything else. We deserved better from Tom Suozzi than this.

As a taxpayer I would like to know can Suozzi be impeached, and more importantly why did anyone vote for him in the first place.Bruce Bent is looking like he might have been heaven sent had he gotten elected. A man he knows how to run a successful business, hire productive competent employees and holds a genuine interest in the preservation and betterment of Nassau County.Voting the party line is a very bad idea, and we are paying in more ways then one with Suozzi and his "Dream Team", which is only one thing "The Nassau County Taxpayers Worst Nightmare".

With that kind of arrest it would seem that Jantzen has a larger problem that just needing a good lawyer. He needs to get treatment provided by the Department of Drug & Alcohol.
Oh! What is that? You say that Tom Suozzi in his attempt to provide the illusion that he is saving the taxpayers money closed the services provided by the County.
Of course he did. Yes, Jantzen can go to the private sector in Nassau for treatment.
What?s that? Suozzi cut County funding to most of those services that were receiving it as well and many are only getting by with State funds.
Good job Tom! Sorry Bill. Call Drug & Alcohol just the same. They will have to reach further but will provide you with a confidential competent referral.

Who will be the lst year President?
If he wasn't working for Suozzi, you wouldn't be the least bit interested in him. The story has significance because it's further evidence of a pretty bad hiring system, but it's really mean-spirited to mock the guy personally, even if he has it coming.

It just doesn't warrant mockery. It's sad to see somebody get locked up for it, and it's frightening to think of tragedy averted. Again, he may well have it coming, but people don't have to mock him. The arrest is bad enough.

And once again, had the voters of Nassau County looked into the real 8 year record of Tom suozzi as the mayor of Glen Cove and his "Dream Team", then I doubt very seriously that he would have been elected to the County Executive's Office. Currently, the City of Glen Cove is a disaster. From it's corrupt department heads, supervisor's and forman to the ill conceived construction projects, and especially the coverup of it's finances, the city is crumbling. Everyone say "Thanks Tom"!!!.......oh, and don't forget Maryanne too!!!!

A quick LEXIS searched turned up In re Guden, 171 N.Y. 529 (N.Y. , 1902). An old case with some negative treatment. Nevertheless it is a starting point. Reference is made to the State Constitution wherein the court engaged in analysis of the Governor's removal power. May be a high burden but perhaps Pataki could be convinced.
has too many skeletons in his closet and knows better than to get involved. just because you may have had your pic taken with Pataki does not mean you are buddies, pataki is there to serve himself!

And that's not a bad thing. Regardless of how bad things are at the moment, the concept of the governor, in Albany, having and exercising the power to remove a local elected official is not one that should be welcomed or, if it exists at all, exercised.
Once that sort of authority is exercised, it doesn't always work the way you might have wanted it to.

The governors power of removal of a County Executive is via a section of New York State Law. I'll get the actual section and post it. I read the statute about three months ago.

Jantzen, Benrubi,Sylver, and the other party boys in Tom Tom's entourage are not Glen Covers. He may have found some of them apartments in GC, but they have no ties to the community. When he was mayor, he recruited most of his top level staff from out of town. Macari came from New Jersey, Benrubi from California. The great Building Dept. guru Moreno was a former TOB official who lost his shirt as a developer in Texas. Who can forget the financial whiz Kay Tooher who served as City Comptroller while keeping her day job in Westchester. Why does he continue to hire these losers who are destined to fail? By surrounding himself with card carrying morons, he will always be the smartest person in the room.

Bleak prognosis for budget
Financially troubled Nassau facility may need taxpayers' help to halt free fall of projected deficits

November 18, 2005
Nassau's deficit-plagued public hospital corporation is on track to lose double the amount of money projected this year, despite declarations by county officials that they had stopped the bleeding.
The Nassau Health Care Corp., which runs the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, budgeted a $6.5-million deficit for this year and predicted breaking even next year. But higher expenses, particularly for overtime and utilities, have pushed this year's deficit projections anywhere from $9 million to $14 million.
The losses continue a pattern of annual deficits at the former county hospital, which Nassau spun off to the public benefit corporation in 1999. The medical center serves Nassau's neediest residents and is dependent on state and federal funding, but like many public and private hospitals it has struggled to make ends meet and almost ran out of money last year.
Officials worry that after one more year with a significant deficit, the corporation could run out of cash and have to turn to county taxpayers to survive.
"The question is whether or not the trend is going to continue," Daniel Kane, the corporation's president, said. "It's a significant issue and one that we're very concerned about."
A meeting to deal with the current problem has been scheduled for Monday in Mineola with top officials from the hospital corporation, Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi's administration, County Comptroller Howard Weitzman, and the Nassau Interim Finance Authority, a state watchdog board.
Suozzi said during his successful re-election campaign that county officials had "saved" the hospital after it almost ran out of money last year. He maintained that stance this week.
"I am very confident that the Nassau University Medical Center will continue in its turnaround," Suozzi said yesterday. "It's no longer on life support."
Officials said the deficit is a small percentage of the health care agency's $469-million budget, and they noted that public hospitals in Westchester and Erie Counties are faring worse.
Nassau's agency still plans to get out of the red next year. But the corporation's board missed the deadline to approve its budget by Nov. 2 as required under state law. Last year's budget was approved late, on Nov. 22. "It would be silly to throw together a budget that's not realistic," Kane said.
Lawrence Gottlieb, the board chairman appointed by Suozzi, did not respond to requests for comment.
The corporation, which also operates the A. Holly Patterson nursing home in Uniondale and community health clinics, lost $14 million from operations last year and a total of $82.1 million from 2001 through 2003. The corporation projects having $16 million in cash left at the end of this year.

Conservatives: Get over it. You lost.
The showcase of Suozzi's current policy proposals is an attempt to draw attention to overly high school taxation. That is clearly a "conservative" issue. Suozzi may have been pushed that way to some extent by Bob Bruno's performance in the county executive debate. Suozzi is no fool and will try to run as a no-nonsense, conservative Democrat. Maybe he is talking out of both sides of his mouth, but remember at least one side of his mouth speaks like a "heartland Republican."
