will be set for Tony Mastriani to resign.
Who will replace him?

Deal has been cut. Asher will take over party
before it is all gone.
It is about time. How many more elections will be lost. How much more money thrown away while allowing Isreal to take over and Petrone to get set up and then dump those who paid to get him there. Flannghans seat should have bee a no brainer. Should not have lost the Town Board or the Legislative seat to Cooper.
Asher would be great as long as he alligns himself with
new fresh faces. Look how the dems took over Huntington. Keep Rattaliata around- good on tactics and dedicated - although too alligned with the old guard- Conte, Binder. She is probably the source of the Conte Supervisor discussion - will never happen if the republlicans are going to win that and most comittee people know that already.
Get rid of Stubbolo too- an embarrasment. Wonder why they cant get new recruits. He should have been dumped after those two races he lost.
Asher by month end!!!

What did the Huntington republican Party give to andry raia besides the nom? party identification in suffolk means diddly-just ask steve levy and pat eddington who represent even more republican seats than flannagan's and are dems. Let's see?
Face facts-A nomination with no money is worthless. They gave andy the nomination believeing cuthbertson was unbeatable(as he had trounced them the year before because they still believe the ridiculousness of the old man from Smithtown's "trends" theory-ie Huntington because of a registration advantage trends republican).
From an enlightened self interest they saw that furthermore there are only three or four potential patronage jobs in the assembly and when they gave andy the nod petrone was still a rep and the board 2 to 3. They figured like machiavelli that if they get rid of cuthbertson they would and should pick up at least one seat of the three that would come up and therefore wrest control of the board from the dems and get jobs for their lazy relatives. I went by Andy's headquarters numerous times and the only guys that were always there were the guys he hired from Albany. Bonnie was also there(even though she was pregnant) but where was Kreegan and Tony R. To give credit where it's due they won flannagan the 2nd senate nod-great ob, but outside f primaries their results are DISMAL.
If it wasn't for the state party stepping up and putting it's money where huntington's mouth is that seat should have been lost. Cuthbertson utspent Raia by at lest 4 to 1. Granted Cuthbertson spent his money like a drnken sailor, and Raia spent well(although it can be argued that Andy used the "race card" devastatingly in his TV commercial putting Cuthbertson and McCall together)Raia worked hard and he owes alot to Binder, the people upstate ,and almost nothing to the local party. Their lit drop was a joke. Huntington gave Andy $10000 officially, although many believe andy raised that on his own. Does anyone know if this is true?
Cuthbertson got tons of money from rich shaffer and even the huntington dem party. perhaps the huntington republican leadership should invest time in raising money to help their people be competitive rather than spend time criticizing decisions made by candidates ( I heard they (tony M and the rest) wanted no tv ads-is this true?).
Tony and the little guy are terrible leaders. Cuthbertson scared the sh** out of the people who run the rapidly dwindling Republcan party in huntington. I ask this queston: what has Tony M done to make it better for republicans in huntington?

Well said
and it is getting worse......
I think because of your point that they will NOT get competitive candidates for Town Board and Berland and Budd, both of whom will run a very nasty campaign, will kill the reps nomimees.

Tony M advertising (in the Long Islander with his heart over his hand) for resumes! Are we embarresed yet? Bad enough Reps can't groom candidates (maybe even good ones) from within. How sad. We got Tonna because the leadership at the time wanted Steve H's friend. The Reps had a great viable, contributing candidate then and bypassed him for am outsider. Remember him? He was the guy who called Frank Petrone out of the gate and started a little thing called Reps for Gaughran. Hard working Reps in Hunt are repaid with a kick in the teeth. No wonder we can't attract good ones.

put your money where your mouth is, and implement change if you can do better..
AS for running ads for candidates , no one wants to run for anything anymore
you can only groom college kids...
andrew raia won because the calvery rode over the hill in the days preceding the election.
e d 's were re- walked for literature and the the voter turnout operation got last minute help
tony m 's butt was probably spared as a result....(for now)
tony r is heading up the issues committee... thats the kiss of death... if candidates dont know
what the issues are . no attention or focus will be in front of the public... all of the REP
candidates will go down in flames.

Im not sure they are going to get any of caliber. I have heard that some of the better ones are now not running.
You are also right on the issues issue- including the moratorium which is going to blow up in Marks face.....
moratoriums never work!!!!!!! nor does the average voter care on election day...
the3 issues the republican party is touting are so dull , no one will show up to vote. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
next years issues will be taxes, in particular , school budgets, as a result of the planned state
cut backs ( which may or may not happen)
Council districts could be an electric subject
environmental bond issue
tree protection(or not )
because the town did not raise taxes this year and our fiscal situation is sound.. rep candidate are up
against.... WE NEED SOME IMAGINATION & creativity
