Thomas Sopta ordered Suffolk County Police Officers to hand out "fliers" four-days straight to the pubic informing them "not to buy cigarettes." a minumun of 15 cops and cop cars are in a neighborhood, on overtime in Mastic, it looks like a crime scene. Does Levy, know about this harassment and excessive manpower and money the taxpayers are dishing out, why hasn't the DA brought this to court, if there is something illegal going on. Looks like a witch-hunt and a very expensive one at that. Why aren't the cops out catching criminals, maybe we should donate some yarn and knitting needles for the Suffolk County Officers, they haven't anything else better to do. Looks like Iraq out there.

what about us?

Is this important?

Don't understand, is there an Indian Reservation in Mastic? Seems to me, our very HIGH PRICED police officers should be more useful somewhere else. Oh that's right! What crime do they have to fight?

POLICE ATTACKING THE AMERICAN INDIANS, THAT SEEMS BETTER THAN DOING THEIR REAL JOBS, LIKE ROUNDING UP ILLEGALS, FINDING THE ARMED ROBBERS AND RAPISTS. SCPD DOESN'T WANT TO WORK THEY'RE AFRAID TO FIND THE REAL CRIMINALS. WHILE THEY'RE IN MASTIC... I'M SURE THEY CAN FIND A WHOLE LOT OF CRIMINALS RIGHT THERE BUT THEY'RE TO AFRAID TO LOOK. WIMPS!

There are two relevant sections of the New York State Tax law. It is a Misdemeanor to be in possess of 2 cartons of untaxed cigarettes. It is a Felony to be in possession of 100 or more cartons of untaxed cigarettes. There is a presumption in both of these sections that if you possess them, you have no intention of paying the necessary tax to NY state. A little known tidbit is it is legal to buy the cigs on the res, but you still must voluntarily fork over the appropriate tax to the NYS dept. of taxation and finance, something I'm sure NO ONE buying cigs at the res. has been doing.

As for the clueless azzwipes who claim SCPD should be looking for "real" criminals such as murderers, rapists, drug dealers. Lets take a stroll down memory lane. A few years back an up and coming crack star was living and selling crack on the Moriches bypass(frowein road). Said young crack star purchased a new shotgun and was testing it out by shooting holes in a storage shed. Problem was there was a 5 year old child playing in said storage shed. The child was shot and killed and because the childs parents were afraid of said crack star they didn't balk too much at letting him plead to Manslaughter and getting probation. Oh, by the way he had to pay 5,000 in restitution to the family. I guess 1,000 per year he was alive. Fast forward now a bit. Crack star pools his crack money and buys himself a "PEACEful kind of PIPE and SMOKE SHOP" where crack monies are laundered with quasi legal tobacco sales monies. Sales of legal and illegal smokable products go through the roof. Crack prostitutes flock to the area to ply their trade since they don't want to travel too far from where they can buy their rock to their "office" on the corner of Poospatuck and Squaw. Said crack star needs new markets, so he employs friends and family members to transport drugs and tobacco products back and forth to Brooklyn where the untaxed cigs. are distributed to less than ethical bodega and gas station owners. Drugs come in via the shotgun approach. When crack star or his employees need to transport product/money into or out of the res. they do it by leaving or coming in caravan of vehicles. Simple tactic that makes it difficult for any cop to get close enough to the vehicle in the middle that has the drugs, guns, money.
Crack star is a shrewd business man. He further washes his illegal monies via real estate. He buys up crappy little shacks in Mastic, Mastic Beach and Shirley and has his contractors renovate them, further laundering his illegal monies.
OK, covered the drugs and prostitution on the res. now lets not forget the Murderers and Rapists that the police are supposed to be going after instead of handing out fliers. A few years back a father knowing that his daughter had a substance abuse problem went to the res. to find his wayward daughter. He was killed. About 2 years ago a grandmother who had a crack problem took her 14 year old grandaughter to the res. and gave her in trade to a drug dealer who proceeded to rape her right there on the res. To conceal detection, granny forced the 14 year old to pee in the bushes after being raped to help dispose of any incriminating DNA evidence.
Given the financial resources of "crack star, R.M." what do you think is going to happen and who do you think has a vested interest in the Shinnecocks getting a casino? Who do you think will be funding the Shinnecocks and or the Poospatucks in their bid to get a casino.
Enjoy your cheap smokes folks, can you taste the blood of the victims of these scumbags with every drag? Do you enjoy lining the pockets of drug dealers, murderers, rapists with every purchase? Cheap cigs. aren't cheap, they come at the expense of the state coffers and on the backs of the children of the drug and cigarette addicts who frequent these establishments.

Amen! I wasgoing to say the same thing in much fewer words. Poospatuck is a crime ridden "reservation" with people claiming to be American Indians, On the most part they are tax evaders with maybe 3% Indian blood in them and 97% Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina bred blood...If you catch my drift.

Local police dont have jurisdiction on Indian reservations; only the State Police, FBI, Bureau of Indians Affairs Police and the Reservation Police (if one exists) have jursisdiction on Indian reservations.

So this is yet another example of the SCPD breaking the law.

Well, you can speculate on the "tax laws" alleged murders, imply they're all "black" who's a rapist, blame the Indians for illegal sales, but it boils down to this. Native American Indians.... Black, white, red, mixed... 3% or 97% means they're allowed to sell cigarettes up to five cartons, not two and no internet sales, unless you're a licensed retailer. The question here is why is the District Attorney, taking this to the streets and not into court (no evidence?) Moreover why is the DA even involved when this is an alleged "tax violation" and he insists on using excessive manpower with local Suffolk County Police, because State Police refused to get involved. The Feds backed away, and where is the ATF and IRS. Spota's witch hunt is going to cause Suffolk County a multi-million dollar lawsuit as cops keep arresting people coming from the res. someone is going to get hurt. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Wrongo sporto. The Poospacoon's aren't an acknowledged tribe therefore you can forget all that bureau of indians crap. SCPD has and will retain jurisdiction over the Monig's for as long as they rape, murder, sell drugs and steal cars. If you want to play games we'll get the US Border patrol to build a wall around it and patrol the "border".

A 13-year veteran of the Suffolk County police department is under indictment for grand larceny, insurance fraud, defrauding the government and other crimes, according to District Attorney Thomas Spota's office.

During his 13-year tenure, Michael Forman, 39, of Bethpage, claimed that he was physically unable to work as a police officer, but records show he responded to over 200 fire department calls as a Bethpage firefighter. Forman accepted approximately $250,000 in tax-free workers compensation benefit.

Forman faces two counts of second-degree grand larceny, three counts of insurance fraud in the second degree, three charges of defrauding the government, six counts of first degree offering a false instrument for filing, two charges of offering a false instrument for filing in the second degree and six charges of violating Workers Compensation Law.

The top counts of grand larceny in the second degree and second-degree insurance fraud are "C" felonies, punishable by five to 15 years in prison. Judge Barbara Kahn released Forman on his own recognizance at his arraignment in Riverhead Monday.

Spota said the investigation found Forman, 39, serving Bethpage as an active firefighter who responded to hundreds of emergency calls. "He took on the physical challenges every active firefighter encounters. the defendant proved repeatedly that he was fit enough to stretch hoses, raise ladders, use heavy tools to break down doors and participate in search and rescue," Spota said. Detectives said the fire department was unaware Forman was receiving worker's compensation.

Forman suffered a line of duty injury, described as an injury to his right wrist, while making an arrest in April of 2003. In January, 2005, the defendant was named Chief of the Bethpage Fire Department. As Chief, Forman drove a fire department car, used a fire department-issued cell phone and collected limited pension benefits. Five days before his arrest in July, Forman applied for and received medical leave from the department, according to Spota's office.

Forman's arrest was the result of a joint investigation involving the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the New York State Worker's Compensation Board Office and the Fraud Inspector General and the Suffolk Police Department Field Auditing Bureau.

Do the math. Carton of cigs in NYC = 70.00

Carton on the res - 23.00
(in bulk)
------------------------------------------
Revenue for your trip 47.00

Between Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Pataki, NYC now pays more than double the national average tax on tobacco. It is very easy to come out to the res. and double your money buy supplying NYC bodegas and anyone else in the city who is willing to sell illegal cigs.
The profits....no surprise... have been linked to terrorism.

For the "indians" of course, this has raked in millions for them over the years......better than any obvious thing like drugs. They have acknowledged it is illegal to possess more than what is for "personal" use, but call up and order 1,000 cartons and it will be ready for you to pick up - at you own risk - JUST BRING THE CASH.

A heartwarming story for you, this should aptly be named "A Noble Tale of the Poospatuck":

LONG ISLAND NY
Sam Lewin 2/23/2004

A man who admitted to having forcible sex on a New York reservation with a teenage girl in exchange for giving her grandmother crack cocaine will be sentenced tomorrow.

Joseph Bullard, 26, pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of attempted first-degree rape. Officials say the girl’s grandmother wanted to purchase the drug but did not have the money. Instead, she offered the girl as payment. Bullard accepted and raped the child.

The crime happened on the Poospatuck Indian Reservation in Mastic on Aug. 25, 2002. The grandmother, whose name has not been released to protect the victim, faces charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy under the legal reasoning that she and Bullard committed the crime together. Bullard made the girl urinate after the rape, washing away DNA evidence, and the grandmother made her shower when she took the girl home, further removing evidence, police said.

The grandmother, 54 and homeless at the time, faces trial at a later date. The reservation, near Long Island, is home to the Unkechaug Indian Nation. The tribe has about 240 members, with about 250 living on the reservation. There is apparently no working telephone number for the tribal council, and tribal leaders could not be reached for contact. There is no word on whether any of the people involved in the case are members of the tribe. (Of course, why else would a savage be there stupid).

By admitting to the rape charge, Bullard faces an almost-certain sentence of six years in prison when he goes before Acting State Supreme Court Justice Michael Mullen. His plea also means he avoids a sentence that could have spanned a quarter century.

....you know, who knows what may have happened if Pocahontas's Grandma-ma would have offered her up to the white man for some sniff....and while we're on the subject, how much pedophilia was Manhatten worth?
