McDonough:
On wrong side of issues, no friend of community residents, owns a decrepid home in utter disrepair - neighbors hate him I hear, GED out of high school, puppet of Joe Mondello and other string pullers - has bouts of memory loss due to advanced age.
Best days are behind him.

Some choice. A Shelly Silver tool, who should be able to bring home the bacon or a nice old man without any power. How did we come to this.

Time for change my friend, comprehensive political reform. But first, sweep out the old power structure by rocking the Republians with defeat after defeat. Then rebuild based on a more open, reform oriented model.
That is the only way to bring about change.

With all due respect, if we reform under your scheme, we will alow the democrats and there liberal agenda the opportunity to take over the legislative and judicial branches here on LI.
If this occurs, you will never see any form of GOP on LI for the next 100 years. That does not sound enticing to me.
We already see at the County level the rise in costs, salaries and taxes, as well as several legislative initiatives covering how We should act and what we should be allowed to do. This frankly, scares me. you proposal would only further this.
Run for office and seek change with your following. That I cold support, if you were the right person whom I trust. Otherwise you seek to burn everything, which I for one, would not support.

Ah, perhaps you have failed to notice, the Dems have won a majority of judicial positions in Nassau County over the past five years, they hold 51% of all locally elected offices, have a larger percentage of the Assembly delegation from the Island than ever before and are nearing equality in voter registration numbers.
The time for change has come, this is not a rap on the reps, just a statement of political reality. Real steps have to be taken to reclaim that part of the Republican constituency that has defected. I think we know who they are and a comprehensive political and governmental reform agenda are just what they want.
Next year's Assessors race headed by Dead Man Walking O'Shea will be the final kicker.
Want to challenge the machine in a primary and run for the Hempstead Town Board in '03? Let's talk.
As it appeared in today's newsday, Moore has only the dem line and McDonough has Rep, Cons, & Indy. With a 18,000 republican edge, see ya..........................Mike

the past three years shows that voter reg in Nassau means nothing. Denenberg won in a 2 to 1 rep to dem area. Muellers, and Scanell the same. Close races in other "rock solid" rep areas. Lines don't matter too. 2001 Denenberg, Toback and Muellers didnt have the conservative and Independence line, but each won with substantial margins...the lowest being 58%. Moore wins by 2%. He has an army working on Election day.
So long McDonough.

Wait a second - D'Berg won 2:1 when the top of the GOP ticket ran 30% to Suozzi's 70% in that legislative district. Check the numbers! That means that next year, D's not as solid as some might think.
Also, word circulating through the BOE that Dave runs against O'Shea next year instead? Maybe just b.s.

Denenberg ran 60/40 in a district that was 2:1 GOP. (In 1999 he grabbed 56%) While it is true that Suozzi ran 2:1 in the district, Denenberg pulled stronger in many EDs. Also Parola won Seaford and Wantagh relatively big and Denenberg won Seaford and he lost Wantagh by only 200 votes with Parola walking the entire district with Mike Carroll. Moreover, voters had to return to the Dem Line after voting for Suozzi as many voted Suozzi, Parola, Dillon, Murphy and then Denenberg. Dillon won with more than 65%, so people really had to search out Denenberg.
Bottom Line - Denenberg is safe.
One More Thing - While Dave Denenberg's public meetings prove that he knows far more about reassessment then Charlie O'Shea, the last time I checked Dave was perfectly happy being a partner in a major law firm and could not take a pay cut to become assessor. Also Dems would not run Dave for anything, if it they could not guarantee that his seat in the Legislature was safe. Without Dave, the seat ain't safe.

Good points. But don't underestimate the massive negative lift that Bent bestowed to the candidates down his line. I gotta roll (it's crazy here today of course, but this hour is kinda slow, until the lunchers come in) but agreed with you on that O'Shea / Denenberg thing on the assessment issue - DD Does seem to know more, have a better grasp on it. It's a nice gig, pays well, 6-year term and he can be closer to home instead of back and forth to the city. Screw the Dems wanting to keep that seat safe, we need a strong leader in the tax assessment position, that's for sure. November can win that seat if it's handed over to him. He's like the shadow Dave these days. Shame he didn't run again against McD. We were waiting for his materials to show up here and they never did.

I agree that November can "probably" win the seat, and it is widely believed that he would run for it, if Denenberg moved on (say to Congress), but it will not be in 2003. November too, needs a full time job, and his current employer would not tolerate another run for office (and would not accomodate him if he wins). Bottom line - it isn't going to be Dave Denenberg as Assessor.

Hey, West, it's too bad they can't get Dave and November working separate angles. Together they could form the wedge. As for Moore, I have to add a point that hasn't been mentioned. I looked at the numbers out of S. Merrick & Bellmore and it's clear: you need not just any Democrat, but a Jewish Democrat. There was an Irishman who ran against Ward before Dave won and he did poor down there, and I matched those EDs with Moore's numbers and they correspond.
That's why I'm especially hot on the Dave/November thing. I don't think there's anybody else down there who's a rising star that fits the bill.

Funny - I took a look at the same ED's last night, and knew by a quarter past 9 that Moore was cooked. In three ED's that November won in the special by 150 votes (out of 250 cast): Moore won by 10 out of 800 cast - race over. Moore did, however, do much better than McCall in the same 3 ED's.
Anyhow, I doubt Steve November will run again, anytime soon. If he does, I'll support him.

McDonough won: if you can call spending 4 days a week in Albany doing absolutely nothing - winning.
If you read my earlier posts - I like Dave - and I'm happy for him. I just don't think an R can be effective in the Assembly - also don't think that a D can be all that effective in the Senate.
I split my ticket - Did you. (I already know the answer)

You nailed this race, but in checking previous posts - On October 22, I hit all 5 Congressional races: Three dead on (within 2%). I have to admit, I didn't think Ackerman would get 93%, nor did I think King would hit 72%. How did you do with your Congressional prodictions.
By the way, if you don't like my posts - no one is forcing you to read them or to respond to them.

I'm in for November for next November. Hey again he ran a tough race in a tough special. Seems like you may know him personally, if so, please tell him he owes it to the team to run one in a standard general. Maybe not now, but soon.
We all know McDonough is unbeatable. Just give it up you stupid democrats. We win, you lose, forever!
