I asked a serious question, and while one or two people attempted to become serious, it quicky turned into a an attoack on someone named Hoey. That was not helpful, so I've started a new topic.

I'm new to this site, and a bit of a political neophyte. I have a question. Why could anyone love a party that has so completely destroyed Nassau County. Sure there seem to be some competent Republican public officials (and some Democratic ones too), and I can understand blind loyalty to a candidate, but not to a party. Perhaps someone can explain what it is that causes such loyalty. Is it jobs? money? Do they throw great parties?
Do they give out Turkeys at Christmas? Is it power? What is the ideological purity that one poster mentioned? What does the Party even stand for if its not full employment for supporters. What? I always split my ticket and need a reason or reasons to vote for Republicans this year (except for Chuck Fuschillo).

You are correct, a serious questions, turns negative against Hoey, whether you like or dislike anybody who is in politics, how about a new beginning,

Lets talk issues and stop the hate.
