she never had a shot to begin with, and now after her disastorous add against Mccarthy, she's done.....

McCarthy's like the Pope. She'll decide when it's time to retire, not anyone else.

Untouchable. The perfect candidate.

Who cares if her donations are from liberals? It's not like they're coming from the mafia or cigarette companies.

Much of her money comes from people who many would consider far worse, the trial lawyers, union pacs and an assortment of the far democratic left. I recommend a visit to Tray.com (the Federal Elections Commission web site) its enlightening to see where her money comes from. As for the OGrady ad, its unfortunate because there are much better ways to show McCarthy for what she is. She may be a good candidate, but I'd like to see her against someone who can really show her for what she is a terrible legislator who cares very little for her constituents. Sir, yes Sir.

Just try to look at it from the perspective of Joe Voter.

McCarthy is a celebrity congresswoman. She also seems like an "un-politician." She was on News 12 tonight and came off as down-home and normal.

With today's dumbed-down electorate, explaining something like special-interest PACs or legislative performance records is impossible with sound-bites. But most people base their vote on sound-bites. Most people go into the booth and choose Coke or Pepsi. It's marketing.

I think if O'Grady were to have a chance -- it may be too late now -- she would have to create name-recognition for herself and then associate that name to something positive.

Then a voter would say: "McCarthy's nice, O'Grady's nice. But, you know, O'Grady is a doctor, and maybe I'll take a chance and vote for her."

Realistically, however, I think it would take a very accomplished politician -- not a newcomer -- to unseat McCarthy. Even then...

Sir: Your points on a positive campaign are well taken. We can debate the effectiveness of McCarthy, and I don't mind expressing myself in that regard, in this forum, but, as far as O'Grady is concerned, she needs to tell people why she's a good qualified. candidate. Your earlier post on that point is correct.
As far as the money is concerned, people need to know where her money is coming from and as you said, it a shame that people have a bumper sticker mentality regarding congress. They are content with a "celebrity" ( I don't wish her celebrity on anyone, but remember, many other people were killed and injured on that train, but their relatives did not seek the limelight) but I'd prefer someone who will do the job well.

We're in the same boat then. I wish more voters would look at the facts of every race. It is frustrating!

You may all be right regarding the ad. But the fact is Ogrady is getting tremendous publicity from it.
