This will be interesting. Rice hails from Garden City, so one would presume that she would not hurt too many lawyer families with people who may have jobs in the DA's office who may be in her or her family's social circles. She also has Harvey Levinson to help guide her through the transition, so hopefully some of the good, "apolitical" career people who work in that office will be able to continue to serve in Nassau government. One also presumes that Rice will tap into her networks in the Brooklyn DA's office for some key positions, and it is hoped that she will bring Charles Hynes's commendable independence to the post. As Spiderman's uncle once said, "with great power comes great responsibility."
On the other hand, Rice took some tough positions during the campaign, and may have to live with some of her harder hitting comments, particularly with respect to "plea bargaining" and the on going Roslyn School District investigation. The worst possible result would be if the DA's office becomes a "Suozzi" patronage mill to support a run for statewide office. Will Ms. Rice view herself - as did Denis Dillon - to be a quasi judicial officer? Will she strive for independence from the politicians? As a candidate with an apparently independent fundraising base, it should not be presumed that she is a Tom Suozzi captive. Hopefully, Kathleen Rice will be a voice, not an echo.

I don't think she's going to cut anyone, but what do I know. Trish Ferrell will get her job back if she wants it. :D
Suozz will give Trish a Deputy Commissionership or something...My guess is Minority Affairs.

Ahhhh, Minority Affairs. Suozzi's dumping ground.
When will they learn?

yes - don't they all end up there? God forbid any one of them should have to actually work in a competitive corporate environment! They wouldn't be able to cope in a FAIR AND COMPETITIVE environment where capability is the qualifying factor, not political connectedness.
And LIPA tries to claim their preposterous rates [going up seemingly every month] have nothing to do with their "bloat". I hate them all.
Rice will keep most of the staff at the DA. She'll only put a handfull of "her" people in. She can't afford to do wholesale changes right away.
She'll suck the knowledge out of the existing staff over the next year then replace them one by one with her own folks.
Take it to the bank.
but that's life .....

sounds like a reasonable prediction.
