View Full Version : I'm a little surprised. No election updates?

I actually thought that channel 12 would have updated election results and status occasionally throughout the day. Looks like no one will know anything until 9pm? Is that right? Are they just going to tell us who won?

Since the 1980 Presidential election, networks are loathe to give results prior to the polls closing so as not to prejudice the actions of those who have not gone to the polls yet.

Don't know where you got that. They did that in 80, 84, 88, 92, 96, and 2000 - which, as we know, got the Bush team rolling with their Steal the Vote Shock Squad in Florida.

Since THEN, they've been cautious about calling the races.

Not so. When Jimmy Carter conceded the race to President Reagan in 1980 before the polls closed on the West Coast, they stopped doing it.

Since then, all polls had to be closed before networks started making projections. The "Steal the Vote" Squad only could get to work once all the polls were closed. THEN they put this idiot into office.
