DiNapoli was 18 and on the Mineola School Board if that counts.

Tom Downey was the youngest elected to Congress at the age of 25 I believe.

All of the Republican's on the Legislature are considered, by their behavior, to be minor aged children (and fittingly hold positions with no political power).

Pollster, stop causing a flame war. This guy asked a simple question and response is not warranted. If you can't be helpful, don't be rude. Your actions don't reflect well on you.

Evenhanded one:

Do I seem like the kind of person who cares what those in cyberland think of my rather mild criticisms of local Republican hack politicians, their cronies and assigns?

And what about you? Why would someone who is self-described as "Evenhanded" frequently rush to the defense of Republican machine officials who transformed Nassau County into the laughing stock of muncipal governments? It's their performance that doesn't make anyone look good.

I on the other hand, Evenhand, think we need a clean sweep of practically every local and state Republican official and Executive leaders in the Nassau GOP before we can even begin to restore this party to it's rightful place.

There's an old saying - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well the Nassau GOP is broke, we know who broke it, we know how they broke it, and we know that the ones who broke it shouldn't be the ones to fix it because those who break things they are paid to maintain are usually fired. I say, fire them, starting with the top leader and working way down to the lowest - the Executive leader of little old Stewart Manor.

What's so unfair about that?

Pollster, I'm not rushing to anyone's defense. I'm asking you to be polite to th eother board members. This guy asked a simple question. If u know the answer, then help him.

If you want to bash people, which u frequently do, then start your own thread criticizing them. This is not the forum.

By the way, u should care what others think of you. Even in cyberland

You have your opinion that u want a clean sweep and thats fine, but this person was looking for help with a question. Frankly, u might know the answer since u seem to have so much knowledge of the inside functions of the GOP(picked that up from your other posts). What, do u work there or something?

Anyway, I think your "throw them all out" mentality is a little extreme. U can't think of one current Rep candidate/leader that u like.

I don't belive he'd be hired by them, or any other GOP campaign organization due to his habit of supporting Democrats.

You'd be surprised who political organizations hire to do their work.

Some of the best names in Washington DC campaign firms have clients that encompass both parties, as well as independents.

Just ask Frank Luntz, or Dick Morris.

So, I believe Pollster is working for the State GOP (which is out to get Mondello anyway) as well as supportive of some particular Democrats that can assist in furthering this goal.

There's a huge difference between a Washington poltical consulting firm that have no official ties to a political party and an organization like the NYS Republican Committee. To wit, the latter requires COMPLETE party loyalty. Trust me when I tell you that Pollster is really a former Nassau GOP operative who fell out of favor with the party, and now seeks to "get even" by promoting Democrats. He is not affiliated with ANY Republican campaign committee.

A Republican committeeman in Levittown told me about an attack by two of you on someone I know - the one calling himself pollster. If he is who you say he is your attacks are completely off base.

Fact of the matter is, when he worked there he was as hard working, honest and loyal as anyone - MORE in fact. Now we see the vile nature of those who got him fired and the consequences of their misguided actions.

The main culprit just showed up in Newsday's story about improper property tax assessment reductions. In fact, her house was pictured on the cover. NOt long ago her boss' $1 million dollar house was pictured on the cover.

They are the ones who need to go!

Ever since they did this to them the party has gone downhill, one loss after another. D'Amato, Vacco, National Convention Candidates, Blakeman, Ward, Gulotta, Parola...the list is a good one.

The jinx is on, and he's right to do it!

Until they make things right with him, rather than continue to "dis" him I fear the bad luck will continue, and rightly so.

More power to you and keep up the good work if you happen to read this my friend. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Greg - Massapequa Committeeman

To Greg - Massapequa Committeeman

The only reason Vacco lost ( and believe me it was a really stupid reason to lose) was because a Liberal mole from the Patakicrat camp advised him not to take the RTL line; a loyal lock on 50,000 votes (except when Bob Walsh runs for state office, than its 100,000 / note: 1994 Gubernatorial election).

Result? Vacco lost by 20,000 votes.

You can blame alot of things on alot of people; but these numbers don't lie. (now we are stuck with radical Spitzer whose newest claim to fame is attacking people who volunteer thier time to help others in need.

Too bad, we need Vacco back.

I also heard that Vacco, like all A.G.'s, had dreams of being governor someday, and that he was told (possibly by the same Pataki goons) to dump RTL so it couldn't be used against him. Bad move. Now, Vacco is toiling in obscurity, and left-wing Manhattan Democrat Spitzer is conducting witch hunts against anyone deemed an enemy by radical feminist Demos. Hopefully the GOP can find someone decent (Balboni?) to challenge him. A possible Pataki landslide may be enough to carry in the A.G. and comptroller nominees this time. Watch for a surprise with the Hispanic vote.

Greg: Gulotta did not lose the election since he didn't run. The other losses you cited have nothing to do with who's being hired or fired at Post Avenue. It's simply a Democratic trend that has affected almost ALL big suburban counties with major metropolitan areas in the northeast. Take a look at Westchester. Same change in party control, and they didn't have a financial mess. The fiscal ineptitude of the local GOP simply assisted the trend in Nassau. But the anti-GOP trend could be halted and reversed because of 9/11 and the de-demonization of the GOP in NY. Evdience: The newfound popularity of Pataki, Bush, Giuliani, and Bloomberg, and the absence of more polarizing GOP figures.

The leftward drift of Palefti leaves conservative minded Republicans without a cause d'celebre. Little dif it seems between the Gov, Cuomo & McCall.

Just shows what BS the minor lines are.

Take the high road
02-07-2002, 10:49 AM
You made my point for me, Greg.

The only saving grace for Pataki being so far to the left is that my former schoolmate Cuomo and McCall are miles further to the left than that. D'Amato's protege compromised his original values in order to get in. So be it.

But don't under estimate the minor lines.

Do you know there are 1.3 million gun owners state wide all of whom are pissed off at Pataki? (as well as the LI State Senatorial delegation). If they ever voted as a block do you realize they can run and win with thier own candidate?

To me, voting for Pataki is like stubbing my toe on purpose so I don,t have to feel a toothache. That is why I won't give him or a feminazi controlled democrat my vote. I'll go with a third party to show my disdain.

hear hear, voice. Copy that.

Young Republicans need to know, really know the history of thier party. How many Y.R. s know Lincoln formed the party from the whigs and based its platform partly on the equality of ALL men? That the National Platform is pro life and pro second ammenment? That the voting record of many republicans (not all) (many) is way to the left of the National Platform? and an abomination compared to Lincoln's original party?

I am proud of y.r.s too. But they gotta be formed to be more Orthodox in thier views insofar as the real goals of the real party. Not be taught to blindly follow Liberals calling themselves Republicans using that "party- right or wrong crap.

Facts on file:

1980 - Nassau GOP holds all of offices in Nassau County - save Long Beach

2000 - Nassau GOP holds less than 1/2 of all offices in Nassau County.

Who's the common denominator here - aside from the trends you refer to?

Main culprits for the party's misfortune (and misguided hiring/firing decisions) had their homes recently pictured on front page of Newsday.

Additional fact, the person you refer to was replaced by someone who promptly got himself arrested for knocking down campaign signs. Then they hired two people to do the job he was able to do all by himself.

Still think it was a mistake and I'm glad he's my friend. Hopefully the corrupt ones will go and the new ones will bring him back!

It's more important for Young Republicans to carry on thr torch of the party, but to not be one-issued as you so desire. It is important to take in all parts of the GOP platform, not just two issues.

Someone who is totally one-sided will never be able to properly govern and compromise for the better of the people.

By the way, most people are aware that President Lincoln founded the Republican Party.
