The Republicans put us on the brink of bankruptcy. Desperate times call for depserate measures. Tom Suozzi called for a one time tax hike to fix the massive fiscal mess the GOP left us. It was a hard pill to swallow, but a pill that needed to be swallowed in order to get us out of the brink of bankruptcy the previous administration left us in.

The difference is, as one famous observer noted, there's "good graft" and "bad graft" in government. The deficits were out of control, the bond ratings werer in the garbage & we wwere on the brink of bankruptcy because of how bad the Republicans headed by Gullotta screwedthings up. People go for treatment, surgery, chemo, radiation, medication - it takes awhile for it all to happen. People keep on working, living. It's not until all the treatments are tried and the prognosis is either that it worked - either temporarily - your're in remission usually - or in some lucky cases - seems to be gone or what noone wants to hear - sorry - we did everything we could but ....
