View Full Version : Does Dillon take the money?
So, does Dillon take the money or run again? Sounds like a version of "Let's Make a Deal." I bet he retires. So who runs for the seat? Has never been a strong Dem candidate since he switched to GOP, anyway. Newsday suggests Levinson will run -- but wouldn't a lot of people angry about reassessment vote against him? Also, might look bad.
Don't even want to ask about GOP candidates. No reason why a strong Dem couldn't recapture this seat in '05 if Suozzi, Weitzman run a strong race..

Dillon will run, will win, and will step down sometimes within his first year.

That was the plan in Suffolk too. Would it work any better here?

What about his grand jury priest problems. Can he enforce the law fairly?
One scenario here is Dillon quits in a new term. If so, who appoints the successor? The CE, with the Legislature's OK, or the governor? And would it be for a full term or only until the next general election?

Nassau County is in shambles due, in large part, to Dillon. This is because he gave all politicians a wink and an unrestricted license to steal. Had he done his job rather doing nothing more than protecting his job we wouldn't be in such a big hole. Rather than run for re-relection, he should resign, walk out of the office with his head hung low in shame, and apologize to Nassau County Taxpayers for having taken a salary from them for all of this time. How many scandals such as the health insurance scandal did we pay for Dennis? I honestly don't know how the man can sleep at night. As for the Dillon fan on this thread you are obviously oblivious to the truth. If you want the truth, talk to former Nassau County bureau chiefs and ask them if Dillon would ever let them prosecute a politician.

The Truth

Neither party has a monopoly on dishonesty. A thief is a thief, period. And Dillon has turned a blind eye to ALL political thieves for the past thirty years. I couldn't care less about political mudslinging between republicans and democrats. But I DO care about people from either side stealing from taxpayers. It has gone on for years, and taxpayers are footing the bill every time they pay their real estate taxes. While Dillon was prosecuting the kid who took a candy bar from seven eleven, he turned a blind eye to the people responsible for the health insurance scam which defrauded Nassau taxpayers out of $70 million. How about: the 99-year lease for EAB plaza which provides for the payment of annual real estate taxes of 1 dollar, the Friends of Long Island Heritage "rent free" leases of County mansions, the Cradle of Aviation deal in which the County pays for everything and the contractor keeps virtually all the income, the two "computer consulting" contracts which provided for virtually the exact same services but one contractor was paid one million dollars more than the other for the very same services, with much of the difference going back to elected county officials. And don't say its just the republicans, because if you want to look at the democrats, just look at the 1.2 Million in HUD monies which the feds wanted paid back. Look at how it was paid and to whom. Look at the "not-for-profit" company which Suozzi set-up to operate, rent free, in a county building with county owned furniture and fixtures. Meanwhile the only thing concerning Dillon is how much money his wife will get if he passes away. Dillon is a complete disgrace who has utterly failed in his obligation to protect the people of Nassau County.

how about the blind eye he turned towards the victims of priestly sexual abuse and the lies he told about suffolk's courageous report. People who look to dillon for protection are afraid of him instead!!!!
Sorry, don't get the joke.

I had to laugh at the fluff pieces in Newsday about Dillon which, by sheer coincidence, began appearing right after this thread began telling the truth about Dillon. Dillon has given corrupt politicians a complete free pass for thirty years, and everyone knows it. Your newfluff presswork is a joke and you know it.

Will Bishop Murphy start settling the sex abuse cases after the election?
Heard that Dillon mounting a last hurrah...So is there a Democrat with any potential to defeat him? Never had a serious opponent all these years....

A deal was made by TS and JJ, Denenburg got a slap on the wrist as a result of the Dillon investigation, in return TS & JJ agreed to put a candadate up against Dillon (Still not known), who will pose no threat to Dillon.

The game plan is, Dillon to run for re-election and wins, then he pulls a Peterson and in his first year quits, in this case for health reasons, the powers to be get to appoint there politico, who will then run as an incumbent in 2009.
Nothing has changed in NC, corruption and greed is alive and well, and the taxpayers once againthe taxpayers pay.

Dillon's a bad joke

Let me get this straight. It is my understanding that Dennenburg allegedly commits a number of felonies, involving forged signatures, on his petition to get on the ballet to get elected into office. Amazingly, by the time the public hears about the the case, it's over. Dennenburg is arraigned, cops a plea and is hit with a sentence which is comparable to requring him to buy a box of girl scout cookies. All within the remarkable span of a few hours.
Once again Dillon gives a politician a free pass on criminal activity, and confirms what insiders already know. In thirty years there hasn't been a corrupt politician that Dillon couldn't protect. Apparently for Dillon, it's still business as usual. Don't make political enemies, and noone will mount a campaign to support a challanger when you run for election. You must be very proud of yourself Dennis.

That is a pretty fair critique of Mr. Dillon. How can an office which hammers people with insurance lapses on their automobiles let Denenberg off with the slap on the wrist?
Driscoll against Dillon
01-29-2005, 01:42 AM
It isn't obvious who the dem contender is? Driscoll - the useless deputy county executive in charge of public saftey and whatever else who suozzi plucked from the city where he was working as us attorney general. He's got no experience managing anything, no munipal administrative knowledge - like all the rest of the people in the souzzi supervisory team. He serves no other purpose than sitting around to collect his $100+K salary waiting to take his shot against dillon.
