Islip leading the way??

How come Islip is the only Town that does not .... thats right...does not have a web site? For a town with a population larger than Buffalo, Albany Binghampton and Syracuse not to have web access, seems odd to me . By the way, the 4 mentioned cities all have web sites.
My dry cleaners has a web site!!!

12 long island towns, 19 +villages, 2 cities, both counties, 62+school districts, NYS government, US government, all have web access.

Are they hiding something? Maybe they should use some of the $$ that they spend on their full time photographer and develop a web site. They have an entire data processing dept. I'm sure some one in that dept can put something together. Maybe they can use some of the $30,000 travel money that was alloted to the Islip Lifeguards in the 2004 budget! They must have all went to Maui!!

In the meantime, how about the Supervisor, Town Clerk, Receiver of Taxes, and the 4 council people give us their E Mail address's? Yeah Right!!! fat chance.

BTW, the Supervisor, Town Clerk, Receiver of Taxes, and the Councilpersons all have email, and access to the web. Call their offices and they would be happy to discuss any issue with any constituant, regardless of party affiliation.

So the Town of Huntington has a jazzier website then the Town of Islip, granted.

But, with an on time budget, no raise in taxes in ten years, and Council People who are accessible - I can live with a basic web presence for the town.

(btw, can the Town of Huntington say the same re: budget, ontime, taxes?)

Thankfully. I did some digging. The Town of Huntington site is supposedly maintained by the Town? It's not, someone is being paid handsomely by taxpayer money to maintain that site outside the town. Don't they have a technology dept that already has paid employees?

Also, since when is Economic Development not in my best interest? Why do you think in Islip we enjoy the year after year decrease in taxes?

Leave Islip alone, it works just fine as it is.

Only one of McGowan's henchmen would think a site on Economic Development could pass for a real Islip site.

McGowan and CO are either too dumb to know the difference or they're trying to pass this off as a real site, the way he tries to pass of his work as leadership.

A real Islip site might have ED as one of many choices on a menu. Further, it could post the county budget and minutes of the town board meetings. McGowan wouldn't want anymore access to government though

And in this day and age, a web site is worth next to nothing. What does waste tax payer money is McGowan's sweethart deals. What a joke.

I don't have an opinion because while he may be part owner or have financial interest in Teller's it's all done legally, which has been targeted and investigated too many times to count. Just because McGowan is a good businessman people hate him? Why do you think the town runs so well? Further, what public lots and utilties are used for his personal use? McGowan is not the problem friend, people like you are - no facts just accusations.
