View Full Version : Now a Fix Albany Supporter???
Lets Keep it Real

Judy Jacobs is in between a rock and hard place with Tom Suozzi. She knows that Tom lives up to the fullness and meaning of his middle name, yet she must show loyalty to her fellow Democrat. She has strived so long for Democratic Hegemony in Nassau. Now that she has seen it achieved, there are these headaches. Judy is not strong enough to defeat Suozzi. And does not have the advisors or support with tenacity enough to defeat Tom or even wrestle him to a draw. Judy remembers how the Republicans lost Nassau. Republican fought Republican and the voters tossed their asses out. She probably fears the backlash of another Nassau Democratic Civil War. And doesn't have the fight in her to stop Suozzi. She is older, tired, and out of her league. Too bad though. Tom needs to be defeated, but it won't be by her.

At a recent meeting Judy Jacobs was zealously defending the Fix Albany platform. What a difference a month makes.
Only last month she was saying "Before you fix Albany you should fix Nassau." And stressed that those who supported the Fix Albany movement were placing the county's fiscal situation in jeopardy. Now she's a gung-ho supporter of what she used to describe as "disgraceful" agenda.
But she was right last month, we should fix Nassau's government first. Like the two men and a lady backroom deal to almost double the legislative salaries. Are we to believe it is good in Nassau but not good in Albany for three people to make a deal without first speaking to the other legilsators.
How about the "Fix Albany" message that legislative leaders in Albany use their power to control their members through committee assignments. You know the practice of giving plum assignments to those who tow the line and striping those who dare show any signs of independence.
Isn't that like stripping a legislator of his committee assignments for talking to a reporter about his thoughts on a matter before the Legislature. Thats what happens in Nassau but we accuse Albany of doing the same.
You were right last month Judy. We should work on fixing Nassau before we try to fix Albany. Lets not be hypocrites.

Dems need to stop killing each other. Judy tries hard everyday to keep it together for the party. She attempts to preserve the peace at every given moment. Other Dems need to excersice restraint. It not just TS. Its more of his imports that are out of control.

The imports are destroying the party. She sits and watches and does nothing. Why? No good Dem could allow some of the recent things that have been happening lately. She's the leader of the legislature, not some helpless party member. She could do a lot more to help unite the party. But sits silent to secure jobs for her friends and family. It may end up costing her the majority.

What the hell can she do? She is a nice, grandmotherly person who is not the leader of the Democratic Party. Jay Jacobs has fallen down on the job. All that little runt can do is cry when he is insulted on Scwartz Report. He cries to Newsday like a little baby, and blames us for his failure both as a man and as Nassa Democratic Party Chief to do anything to stop Tom Suozzi from destroying the Democratic Party, and the activists who stuck with the party through good times and bad.

It's insane to think that Judy should be responsible for other people's behavior. She does a good job despite everyone else.
You may be right we might lose the majority and other important Dem areas. But that is not Judy's fault or responsibility. If we lose the majority I'm sure she find away to move on with her life. Having the majority is more important to TS, JJ and the imports. They should realize this and cut the crap.
RE Party

Some of the people who you agree are destroying the party require legislative approval or appointment. Thats where she is guilty.
Just look at the Board of Elections as one example. The commissioner under the state Election Law is "appointed" by the legislature. Not the party chair as most will have you believe (He only can recommend). The law gives the appointment authority to the legislature and thereby making it's members responsible for the Board and its employees.
This is the same BOE that Judy railed about during the primary for being inefficient. Her own friends who work there can tell her that the administration of that agency boarders on the criminal. But I would bet the farm she will reappoint the Dem commissioner without even checking into the whole host of complaints being made against him.
If a scandal were to break out there - and one may very soon - it is Judy and the Democratic legislators who are directly responsible. No one else. And it will be they who have to anwser come election time. Not Tom Souzzi or Jay Jabobs as you would have us believe by your posting.
If thats doing a good job that I hate to see her do a bad one.

Why should Judy stick her neck out. No one expects the BOE to funtion properly. As long as its not Florida its ok.
If we lose the majority Judy will still have her seat for as long as she wants it. Maybe she decide to leave this nonsence and move on with her life.
Having the majority is more important to others than Judy.
Maybe with all the Dem stupidity we deserve to fail?

Its worst than Albany in Nassau. Thats basically what your saying.
Its not sticking her neck out to vett the people she appoints. Are you saying she's nothing more than a rubber stamp. That would mean that the Nassau County Legislature is in worst shape than Albany's. Instead of three men in a room you got one man and a rubber stamp.
Again lets fix Nassau before pointing fingers elsewhere. Reformers should reform thy selves.

All I'm saying is that the Dem ship is sinking.
It may not be wourth saving. Why should Judy care? She can pack up and leave anytime she wants.
Judy does have high standards. However, if people are not willing to follow her why would she want to lead?
