View Full Version : Why Is Marsha Shulroff Breaking Bread with FixAlbany?
Say it aint so

I can't believe that Marsha Shulroff hed a party inviting local Democratic leaders to meet Chuck Lavine. This man is going up to Albany as the pawn of Tom Suozzi. Even if he doesn't win, Chuck will either have to do the right thing and get in the back of the line at the Assembly, and support Shelly, or he will have an office next to the broom closet, and there will be no capital projects in the 13 AD. Tom Suozzi doesn't give a rat's rear end about Plainview, Old-Bethpage, Syosset, and Jericho. Suozzi only hires city residents to work in his administration. There's nothing here for these activists. They're better off with the GOPer.

Not only Marsha but her co-leader Dennis Holland is also involved. He is the Democratic nominee and they are the leaders. They are doing their jobs. When your a leader you are committed to the designee as much as you may disagree with his views. It should not be implied that either of them support FixAlbany.
both involved?

Marsha is ass kissing now because she is scared she will be fired. Well she should be!!! After all, she did go against the party and support Sidikman. She has made it clear to anyone who will listen that she seriously dislikes Tom, Jay and now Mr. Lavine.
Don't let the door hit ya on the way our Marsha!!!!!

Let's not forget that Marsha and Dennis were supporting the party's designee, David Sidikman. It was Suozzi, Jacobs (Jay), et. al., who were "going against the party", in some cases (possibly illegally) using party resources, including headquarters phones and I.T. resources, against their own party's designee. Now that the primary is over, if Mr. Lavine is being supported by the two AD leaders, it shouldn't be surprising. They're both long-time leaders who know that it's the right thing to do, even if they don't care for the person who won the primary. In other words, they're the real leaders in the group.
They'll probably vote for Sidikman in the booth on one of the two other lines, though.

Marsha and Dennis have just been re-elected to a two-year term and there is nothing Jay or Suozzi can do to get rid of them for two years. Its an elected position not appointed. And support would have to had supported them for them to get the party's nod to run.
His problem is that he may have his two members of the state committee against him is his quest for state office. How would that look to others around the state.

Do you mean in the annals of Democratic Politics, no assembly district leader has ever been forced out by a party chair or high level elected official before the expiration of their two year term? Or no one has ever been induced (through an appointment or otherwise) to retire from such office before the expiration of their term.

It would have been voluntarily. The county leaders have no power to remove them as they are members of the state committee not the county committee. They have been elected to their positions in the September primary. The are positions are governed by the Election Law and the state committee by-laws.
Even if one of them resigned it is the state committee that fills the vacancy. Considering that Souzzi has declared war on its leaders, I would not count on them to appoint a Souzzi loyalist to the position.
I the only way to force them out is to have some sort of control over them (ie. a Job). They have nothing to hold over Dennis and although they control Marsha's job her friendship with Judy Jacobs should secure her position.

So there is a bit of full scale warfare between the Nassau County Democratic and NYS Democratic Committees....Suozzi seems to be winning this war in these local elections. But how can the opposition of the State Committee impact him in 2006?

Souzzi probably didn't have Dennis vote before he left his job. He's always been a DiNaopli supporter and blames Souzzi for his current situation. He was at the recent state convention telling other committee members of his mistreatment at the hands of Souzzi and his crew.
Where do you think he stands?
