I took that test,It said the list was good for four years!It's not right!

the list can be good for four years. they have option to renew it every year for a max of four years. they hired six a few months ago and supposedly looking to hire again before the new test in december.

The test is posted on the city's home page under the civil service tab. You can download the application and mail it in. It costs $50.00 USC, Check or MO. I spoke to an employee @ civil service who gave me the follow info: The test is open to anyone that wants to take it (this is how they make their $$$$) HOWEVER they will only hire city residences. non-residences will only be processed if they run out of city residences. Long Beach is looking to hire only four people off this exam, and about 600 to 1000 people usually apply for and take this test. I hope this helps but I would not put all your eggs in one basket.

***City cops that live in long beach, you have that best chance of getting this job,,,,the city will save thousands of dollars by hiring you instead of a newbie**** Good luck and I hope some of you make it out of the NYPD!! :D
