A top offical in the public safety vertical has confirmed that Nassau OEM Commissioner Rich "Hooked on Phonics" Rotanz will head to New Orleans to direct FEMA's response. With FEMA Director Mike Brown revoved from Louisanna, Rotanz was the only emergency management professional stupider than Brown. Since Rotanz and Bush both speak that dialect of English normally reserved for retarded four year olds, communication should improve.

Hopefully, he'll be there for the remainder of hurricane season. If you think New Orleans was a disaster, just wait until the big one hits Long Island. Nassau County, led by its OEM Commissioner, is totally unprepared to deal with a major hurricane. They have no working relationships with any of the other key agencies in the county -- police, fire, Red Cross, etc. It should make residents of the County very, very nervous.
