I am not sure.

I think the answer is yes you can be listed without being asked. Pretty stupid on the part of whoever would do that, but I think it is legal.

If you are listed, then if you are elected (assuming uncontested contest), you have the option of skipping the judicial convention. At the convention, an alternate, if one exists for you district would be seated at the convention with the full voting rights that you would have had.

Chaiken getting to a bench is an extremely scary thought. That would be like Mike Tyson becoming a sensitivity trainer, except that Tyson is smarter than Chaiken, has a much better disposition, and actually works hard at times. But she must know somebody important, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to get a job at McDonalds, much less anyplace else, like the County Attorneys office or North Hempstead, where her coworkers described her as "the laziest attorney we ever met."
