Why did the welfare examiner and child support areas suffer the greatest loss and case worker departments were left vitrually untouched?

They dumped the DSS employees so taxpayers services are not effected!
Should have cut out the DSS Recipients to save money.

Absolutely. Thin the herd of parasites. Make them take drug tests. See how fast the rolls drop.
well...not really

The drug testing thing didnt work in Fla. Most tested were clean. NYS should have a residence requirement. You should be a legal resident for 2 years before you can apply. Thats how it is in the south. Georgia, Alabama, Carolinas wont pay for rent. They tell them to live with a relative. The parking lot at 60 Charles Lindbergh is full of out of state plates.

I'm for whatever works, as these people obviously don't. If drug testing didn't fly in FL, it certainly won't in liberal NY.
It's funny how people rail against csea workers and their pensions. At least they showed up for work. People on the dole do ZERO, and have been on it so long (mulch-generational), it qualifies as a pension!

That's funny. I thought that the welfare reform that was pushed through by Republicans during the Clinton years was supposed to fix all that.

The DSS union board from President on down to all the Vice Pesidents are Caseworker Supervisors. They went to the table with Ihop and pleaded that no Caseworkers should be laid off and to take the knife to the Welfare Examiners and Child Support departments. Nothing more, nothing less. The DSS union reps will deny this fact but ask yourself why were no Caseworkers demoted or terminated? Thank Ernie and Co. for this debacle and remember it come next election cycle as Caseworkers are only a quarter of the agency staff. Welfare examiners make up more then three quarters of the union membership at DSS. Ernie you're the man for throwing the Welfare Examiners and Child Support workers under the bus. Happy New Year to you and your girlfriend. We're watching you and everyone now knows what dirty politics you and your union buddies at DSS play.

Cullum was the driving force behind yesterdays sickout. Seeing he has nothing better to do with his time and he wanders the building like a slithering snake he was going around Monday telling workers on the first floor that they should all do a sickout like he did back in the early 90's.
feel sorry

Subject: Clients told to Call The CE's office
Importance: High
The phones are lighting up at the County Executive’s office with DSS clients calling and stating they were either
1.Refused services at DSS because staff have informed them “we don’t have anyone to help you,” and
2.Being given the County Executive’s office phone number and told to call the CE directly and complain about the layoffs
The CE’s staff have informed me that over 2 dozen calls have been received so far, and several have repeatedly identified Mr. xxxxxxx as one of the individual who informed them to call the CE to register complaints.
According to staff at the CE’s office receiving calls, apparently other DSS staff are also telling clients to call the CE’s office as well.
If any of your staff are engaging in this behavior, please inform those of your staff who interact with clients that such unprofessional behavior is a dereliction of duty, will not be tolerated and anyone participating in these actions will be subject to immediate disciplinary measures, up to and including suspension.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Dereliction of duty. Priceless.

Why pick on Glenn and Ernie? They tried their best.
Who moved this thread?

Why was this thread moved from the Nassau board to the Republican board? Time to move it back to the NASSAU BOARD people.

Glen was not voted into office by the members, he was picked by Ernie to fill the slot. He has never made himself availible to the welfare examiners, child support workers or clerical staff outside of the services department. Hell nobody outside of caseworkers knows exactly who the DSS union board members are. It's not like the information is posted around the building. In the end all that can be said is Ernie is only there to look after the interests of the caseworkers which is why none were laid off or demoted. Nothing more, nothing less. This will change come the next election. Count on it. NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
