Ed Henne$$ey is claiming to be Mr. anti-corruption, above reproach and the guy who will clean things up! Not so fast!
Did you know in June of 1999, the Town Board of Ethics cited Councilman Henne$$ey for ethics violations in connection with a land deal involving the old Bayview Hospital property? You see, Bayview Hospital was located in the Moriches area and closed down in the early 90's. The head of the Board of Directors of the hospital wanted the land to go to the town, but Mr. Henne$$ey had other ideas. After the town expressed interest in buying the land, Councilman Hene$$ey approached the board of directors of the hospital and told them that he wanted them to hire him and his friends as consultants in connection with developing the land. According to the Ethics Board report, Mr. Henne$$ey wrote up an "Action Plan" and a "Mission Statement" and presented them to the B.O.D. of Bayview. As part of the "Mission Statement, Henne$$ey and his friends said they would..."integrate activities with local agencies and governments... (and) secure large cash donations from business leaders, politicians and corporations". The only thing that kept Mr. Henne$$ey's little plan from going any further was that someone complained to the Board of Ethics and let the cat out of the bag. The Board ruled that Henne$$ey violated the Town Ethics code and barred him from continuing his proposed activities.
This is the squeaky clean guy that will clean up corruption?? I don't think so!
As for Newsday... they have had this story since early last week. They acknowledge that the story is legit... they say the editor simply wants to "wait on it". What are you waiting for Newsday? Do your job... report the news. Stop playing politics and report the news in a timely manner.

Get your facts straight before spewing your nonsense. Where did you get your information? The Bayview Hospital you are talking about is not in the moriches area at all. Its in Mastic Beach. And it closed down many years ago. Way before 1999. If you can't even get simple facts straight what else are you incorrect about?

I didn't say the hospital closed in 1999... I said the ethics board cited Henne$$ey in 1999. The report was actually released on June 22, 1999. I am fully aware that the hospital had been closed for quite some time. However it was in the late 90's that the Town was looking in to possibly buying the land.
The information came from the Town of Brookhaven's legal department and clerk's office.
As for the location, I do apologize... it was listed in the paper work as the "Moriches area"... and the last time I checked, the Mastic Beach area and the Moriches area are extremely close in proximity. I really didn't think I would offend anyone by calling it the "Moriches area". Do you get offended when people say the "Shirley-Mastic area"??

Do your job... report the news. Stop playing politics and report the news in a timely manner. Mr. Hennessey has been involved with many buisness and property deals on the south shore. He is dedicated to the area as this is where he grew up. He is a positive force on the south shore and will make a great supervisor!!!! You really should get your facts straight. Not because we would be offended by being grouped with the Mastic area (as we Moriches people have many friends there) but it makes us wonder how much of your B.S. is true... I'm voting for ED.
You are an unfortunate soul. A man does something - tries something - and later finds out his act is considered an ethisc violation - and stops --- and you think this is important. 1999 was a long time ago. He stopped. No professional that DOES SOMETHING can 100% be sure all his ideas/actions will pass muster with the Ethics board.
At least he did SOMETHING.
While you and yours walk on water, it may be that doing NOTHING is worse than doing SOMETHING and discovering it is a bad/erroneous idea.

Glad to see Newsday finally do something on Henny and his questionable past. (Sunday, 09/11/05, page A38 "Trading volleys over ethical lapses") By the way, please notice that in no way did Mr. Ed deny it. Also note, the only reason his little plan didn't go further was because a complaint was filed and the ethics board banned him from continuing. And speaking of ethical lapses, has every Brookhaven Republican received their disgusting "Push Poll" call from Mr. Ed's camp? Pathetic!!!

Listen, most of us in Brookhaven are less than thrilled with Mr. Ed. Charlie and Gene don't know if they're coming or going (hopefully going) with their choice of candidates. They don't have a clue when it comes to the future of the party. Do they really think Mr. Ed has a flying chance against Foley? The problem with Gene is that he let's his loser wife run the show (he can't remember what day it is) and everything is personal with her. Caracappa would have been a much better choice to run against Foley. At least we would have had a chance. LaValle fractured the party so badly and his best bud LoSquadro (with his Dem aid) and all the jackasses along with him that backed DiCarlo really put us all in jeapordy. If DiCarlo had won, LaValle and his pathetic entourage would have totally destroyed the Brookhaven GOP. The only hope we have is to work our butts off to get the rag-tag group of candidates elected. Loyalty to the party is the key to success, and needs to be restored and rewarded. If the party's success is put ahead of personal agendas and we show a united front, we may have a slight chance. Just a pipe-dream, I know.
