The Big Question

Tom Suozzi never seems to learn, does he? I read Newsday's story about the political rift between Tom and his cousin Ralph with some interest. It appears that the problem all stems from Tom's backing of the seemingly incompetent, former hausfrau Mary Holzkamp, who if you believe the Suozzi mythology, is destroying the paradise on earth created by that City's previous mayor. If Newsday is correct, it took alot of b*lls for Holzkamp to tell Ralph Suozzi that he needed "more experience" before he could replace Chuck Lavine on the Long Beach City Council. Holzkamp's suggestion that Ralph take a post on the Zoning or Planning Board is bizarre, as these specialized agencies require more actual "technical" knowledge than would a councilmatic position. Ralph Suozzi, on the other hand, is described in the Newsday piece as having experience working for Fortune 500 Corporations like CBS and American Express, as well as experience working as a project manager in a Syosset manfacuturing firm. Ralph also worked in the Suozzi family's many campaigns. Simply put, last year was the 49 year old Ralph Suozzi's time to shine, much like his younger cousin Tom first ran for Mayor of Glen Cove at the mature age of 29.
Funny, how Tom Suozzi points to Nassau's bond upgrades as a positive, but doesn't say a word about the two downgrades sustained by the City of Glen Cove under the esteemed leadership of "the Luncheon Lady in Chief. "Also, funny how Tom was mature enough to be Glen Cove's mayor in his early thirties, but Ralph lacked the "experience" to be a mere councilperson at 48!
Understandablyy, Ralph was affronted by Ms. Holzkamp and her obvious stupidity. Tom should have intervened on behalf of his cousin, and should have "b*tch slapped Holzkamp for affronting a family member.
Interestingly, Ms. Holzkamp appears to be yet another one of these ladies who lunch who seem to be doing so much damage to Suozzi politically. We thought Tom would have learned from his experiences with the Goodmans and Kleins of this world that putting deep pocket ninnies in power who make poor judgements will cost him dearly. In the past, such ninnies cost Tom Suozzi friends and allies. Now, this stupidity may have even cost him family members.
