Just like John Kerry, he has a plan, but never hear the specifics.

An elitist snob from the North Shore, Nassau doesn't need. Most sensible people don't need his brand social liberalism in Nassau.
Come November, this Democrat is voting for Greg Peterson.

With Greg Peterson no where to be found, and that pot head on TV doing the GOP commercials, It appears now that TS will get re-elected for sure

About those embarassing commercials....They are the handiwork of Mondello's paid political consultant TOM SLATER. He was brought in after the debacle of 1999 and started in the election of 2001. Mondello forces all his candidates to use Slater or he won't give them the nomination. He calls it a "coordinated message;" but many people think Joe is getting a % of the buy back to him! Slater lives in Albany and comes down to Nassau two days a week to work for Fat Joe and to get his check. The commercials are shot in the Albany suburbs with paid players from the Albany community. Mondello LOVES these commercials because he believes the electorate of Nassau is stupid and cannot handle an intelligent ad. That is why you always get a simple message and repitition. Since 2001 the Nassau GOP (with Slater's commercials) has lost the County Executive, County Comptroller, County Assessor, the Farmingdale Legislative seat and a whole host of Judges. yet Slater is back again and County Democrats couldn't be happier!

Just sayin

Nassau voters were fools once when the voted Suozz into office. From the looks of things they won't be fooled again. So Suozz and his mindless minions best be prepared for voter backlash against the Suozz this upcoming election day.

I have seen both Murray commercials now on News12 and they are mind-boggling bad. Both spend more time slamming Levinson than saying anything positive about Ms. Murray. That's telling. However, what is truly appalling about these ads is that they are simply atrocious. Amateurish writing, less than B-movie acting, and novice filming. Who approves these things? There are high schools kids who could make better commercials.

These cads have given the Dems a free lesson on how not to make campaign advertisements. If I were a Nassau Republican, I would be embarrassed by this lame effort.

The best part about all your critiquing of these commercials is that YOU REMEMBER EVERY F$%#ing WORD!!!! Call them what you want, but the message gets across loud and clear. "I'm voting Republican"!!!!

Anyone who has ever told you to be yourself couldn't have given you worse advice. You sound just like that insane troglodyte in one of those ads. The only memorable thing about those ads is the incredible awfulness.

Go ahead and vote Republican, those commercials still make the "Help, I've Fallen and Can't Get Up" ad look like Masterpiece Theater. Anyone who decides to vote for Murray based on those ads would be out of their depth in a puddle.

Please keep talking - I need the sleep.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Huh? What an illogical argument. The fact that you remember something does not mean that it has convinced you of anything. Only the simple minded can be influenced by something just because they remember it.

People in the media always do that. They judge the success of an ad by how well people remember it. I'll think "yeah, that's the company with the stupid ad", and then I'll move on to buy a quality product. Its easy to do something memorable, because memorable can be horribly bad.

The Kate Murray ads are like the Greg Peterson ads. I know nothing about him, but that's the problem. Every ad tells us why NOT to vote Democrat. I haven't heard a single reason yet why I should vote FOR HIM. They haven't even tried to state one.

Its not as simple as you propose. These commercials are not designed to convince anyone of anything. They simply set the stage for later debate. You expect too much from a 30 second, pre-Labor Day spot. And, the fact remains...you remember the content. And you will still remember it come election time.

Who cares that I REMEMBER it?

I think your HOPE that the ad be significant is making you insist that it is. I remember the ads for new Coke too, and how well did THAT work? The majority of the talk here has been that the guy in the Republican tax increase ads comes off like a psycho. If you want to believe that thinking a Rep is a psycho is better than not thinking of them at all, that's your opinion.

Listen up little boy as it is apparent that you've got your little head so far up the Suozz's butt that you cannot possibly seperate fact from pure fiction. Fact is Nassau homeowners are none to pleased with the current state of the tax base seeing they're the base itself. Homeowners will be hit with major hikes in the tax bill in the next couple of months. The average assessment increase for a working stiff living in a working class neighborhood will average 35 grand during the 2006-2007 tax year. For all the tax hikes homeowners have seen in the recent years the services have gone from bad to worse. The condition of Nassau parks are at and all time low. County facilities are in dire need of major overhaul. The medical center is still draining the tax base of precious dollars. Squandering of tax dollars on multimillion dollar Suozz gimicks, think "New Nassau" that only end up draining more tax dollars which pretty much sums up Suozz's tenure in office.

This coming 9/6/05 he well waste millions upon millions when he moves county employees out of county owned buildings to house them in a building that he rented from one of his major campaign contributors, Reckson. The Suozz will hand over 8.5 million a year for the next 17 years to house county agencies that already had permanent homes. Based on calculations the Suozz will waste approximately 144 million tax dollars on rent when the county has vacant county owned buildings awaitng use. The Suozz claimed in the past that it would cost to much to refurbish the Social Services building located in the county seat and that it should be sold for 30 million as this was more cost effective. Logic says 30 million vs 144 million screams taxpayer money being wasted. Some would say it's lining the pockets of the party faithful.

But wait the best part is the Suozz claimed he had a buyer for the land the Social Services building sat on along with the attached parking lot. The Suozz promised the courts that they could have a strip of land located across the street from the Social Services building but couldn't keep said promise because the US Navy owned the land. Then when the Suozz tried to put forth a parking garage but the Village of Garden City stated it was to tall and therefore no good. Then some civil rights group called ACORN put up a stink about how no low income housing was included in proposed housing community that the perspective buyer wanted to erect on the site of the Social Services building. Then the Village of Mineola filed suit as the Suozz failed to put forth a community impact plan as the loss of parking for the courts was in peril due to sale of Social Services building and it's attached parking lot that contains somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 parking spaces. Take away the parking lot, no approval from Garden City on a parking garage and the impact on the surrounding communities and you've got a big nothing. Yes, the Suozz really thought this one out. Not.

So little boy the world of the Suozz is built on shady deals and outright deception. Nothing in the world of Suozz is warm and fuzzy. Nothing.

Does anyone else remember Suozzi promising that the relocations would pay for themselves and all these moves would cost nothing? Someone smart would start filling out FOIL requests to find out how much was paid for all the moves, rents, phone installs, rehabs, etc. to get ready for this "free" deal.

Ah, another tough guy behind a keyboard who can't have a civilized conversation without resorting to name calling.

Interesting. I never even said I supported Suozzi. All I said was that remembering a commercial doesn't mean it will influence me, and that Peterson's ads have not cited a reason to vote for him, and you avoided both points. You're quite the brilliant debater.
I'd say you're a masterdebater...

Also, I'm a Republican and I didn't vote for Suozzi. I guess when you can't argue with facts you PRETEND certain things are true to make yourself feel justified.

Also, how anyone can be a supporter of the prior administration and even DARE to complain about ANYTHING subsequent administration does is embarrassing.

You whined that Nassau homeowners are not happy with tax hikes? A few weeks ago I made 2 posts. I asked what Suozzi SHOULD HAVE done instead of raise taxes, and then I asked how the 42.3% tax hike figure was calculated in the Rep tv ads, and I got a grand total of 1 real answer to each question, even though hundreds viewed them. Because no one wanted to admit that ANY tax hike was caused by the incompetence and corruption of the prior administration, and the next guy in charge, no matter who he was, would have to raise taxes to undo what he inherited. So stop whining about any tax increase. You're like a child that whines because he has to clean up a spill that HE caused.

I love where you said " Based on calculations" the Suozz will waste approximately 144 million tax dollars on rent....
Base on calculations? I notice no source is given, no explanation as to what those calc's are or what they are based on. So any calc that would support your pre-existing bias will be fine, right? Are you the guy who came up with the 42.3% tax hike figure? That was "Based on calculations" too, genius. Ooooh...based on calculations. Well, Sherlock has solved the case!

I also love the fact that people like you bitch and moan, yet every independent entity designated to watch over the nearly bankrupt county has said that its in better shape than before. Gee, who should I trust? Anonymous man with an agenda? Or an array of independent, educated, unbiased bodies? Hmmm...let's think that over.

Just for your future use, the word is "separate", not "seperate", and I'm not just harping on a typo, because we both know that was not what that was.

I can't be bothered with most of the people here anymore. I gave it a few weeks but if you express a different opinion or ask a question they can't answer they resort to childish replies and total BS. Furthermore, any time an article appears in the paper that supports their point they tout it as if it was fact, and if something appears that's contrary they ignore it and pretend it didn't exist.

Too bad. This would have been a good place for open minded discussion of important issues. Instead its just a sandbox full of irrational toddlers with fully loaded diapers. Not everyone, but the most vocal, of course. If the shoe fits.

Don't bother replying for my sake. I won't be back. You can continue to rant unopposed, which is the way you like it.

A lot of that has to do with high tax increases and the state funding that was brokered before Suozzi came in. There are a lot of rumors about pushing off the debt of the property tax challenges which won't come into play until Suozzi is on the trail to Albany. If those rumors are true, we'll be back in the same debt hole as we were before Suozzi. Is that truly an improvement?

08-28-2005, 12:41 AM
There is no trail to Albany for the Suozz, it's just minions like you hoping against hope that their boy will go somewhere when everyone knows that the Suozz is going nowhere.
