At Social Services the employees in certain departments come and go as they please. Something about being field workers and other bullshit. They come in a 9:30am depart at 11:30am and are not to be seen until 9:30 am the next business day. Many have managed to accumulate vast amounts of sick and vacation leave as they never need to take any time off for personal business as they do it all on the county and taxpayer dime. It's a sweet gig there's denying that. Problem is their bosses know what's going on as does the administration but they look the other way. It's outright theft which last I heard was a crime.

Does it reallky make any difference if you let someone know about the fraud with the time sheets. Look at what happened in the NCPD. An Inspector involved with a major fraud was tranferred to the office of Support instead of being fired or demoted. The female supervisor was given another office job instead of being used as a floor supervisor. Nothing happens especially in the PD.

Talk about abusing their time! I know this is a little late but Bonnie Chaiken who is now a judge, abused her time in the CA's office big time! She would come in late (10) and sign in for 9 and disappear for hours at a time during the day. Someone who had the day off said they saw her in a pet store around 3 p.m. Unbelievable!! She always told the supervisor that she was in court in the morning but no one ever saw her there and she never had any cases! What a joke and what a waste of taxpayers money. She would sit with her door closed all day and work on her personal cases and nothing was done and she was collecting a salary of about $80,000 a year. It made everyone sick in the CA's office and despite all of that, she became a judge. What a joke that is!

Most of the abusers are non union workers. They are exempt management employees who believe they have the inherent right to come and go as they please. The regular folk mostly have direct supervisors who take these matters seriously. When one of them do screw up however, they are always prosecuted, but the chieftans are overlooked. [/list]

My wife works at Waldbaums. When she arrives to work she swipes her I.D. Card. When she leaves at the end of the day she swipes out. If you leave during the day for some unknown reason you swipe out and you don't get paid. My father worked the docks and in his day they had a punch clock. He would punch in and out each shift. There's software you can install into the employee's computers that has a soft clock attached. When the employee comes in in the morning they sign onto the computer and in and out for lunch and out at the end of the day. The computer clocks the time at the point of entry. No sign in or out, no paycheck. Each employee gets a password and signs an agreement to keep it confidential and not give it out to anybody except their supervisor if asked for it. The supervisor's have to report all passwords they have to their department head. Only IT has a record of all passwords, and that's coded. No timesheet fraud. No taxpayer fraud.
