Is it right that the North Hempstead Democratic committee lets the Kerry camapign use their office over the weekend for phone banking? what about those of us in North Hempstead who don't support Kerry and contribute money and time to the party? Maybe we don't approve of them just letting Kerry use the office space if we don't support him!
what do you expect from somebody who called the garden city hotel to have the sylvers penthouse suite charges removed while his wife was in the employ of sylver. see L.I. press article dated feb 26, not to mention the circle of campaign contributions flowing from sylver to crowe deegan to kaiman. May may have made him supervisor but she cant save him from himself.

If not illegal, it's at the least unethical

Who spent the night in the 9th floor suite and consumed the 2 breakfasts ordered for that suite?
The answer will be forthcoming.
And it should end a few careers.

I agree with you. As an Edwards Delegate candidate in the 5th, of course I am not terribly happy about this. But, look, this is politics. This is the way that the game is played. As long as there is proper accounting for this effort as an in-kind contribution of sorts, hey: that's power. That's politics. The County party is backing Kerry; we're grassroots. Speaking for myself, I am not happy about what you address, but for time honored practices over many a year, this is the way that politics is played out. Jon Weinstein

It's too bad, but that's how it is.

Whats not right about it?
I'm sure there are candidates that run all the time in N. Hempstead that received support from the NHDC that not everyone approves of. Sounds to me as though if it was your guy, you wouldn't be complaining.

How about that? A non-federal committee cannot make contributions -- even "in kind" contributions such as the use of phone lines or office space to a federal campaign except under very limited circumstances. A local committee can use its resources to support the entire ticket (e.g. telephone calls for Kerry, Schemer, Ackerman and DiNapoli all at once), but not exclusively for one federal candidate -- especially not in a primary.
This is one of those nit-picking laws that you Democrats love to enact. Why can't you obey your own laws?

Perhaps the socialistic views are what makes for strange bedfellows.
