Welcome to the Nassau GOP sinking of Nassau County. It's 1998 all over again. Have you seen the Mitchell Field lease sales?? $30million up front for property that can generate $120million+ in rental fees over the next 30 years. Mangano covers his ass but there will be no more income from those rentals down the line.
And for the Coliseum?Lighthouse debacle, blame Kate Murray, Ed Mangano and the Nassau GOP for killing that deal. The real vote is in november. Vote Murray and her team out and vote out Dunne, Schmitt, Gonsalves, Belesi, Ciotti and the rest.

Lets keep the project alive, but it can't be an extravagant monstrosity that
spoils the region! it seems like greed to me and the hell with the taxpayors or
the outcome! And you know it is not going to be as rosey as they suggest!

where is the leader of the Nassau Gop been? Jay Jacobs was seen more in the public during the nassau coliseum issue?

Where is Greg Peterson his name was taken down from the East Meadow GOP Club, he is no longer the leader of that club?Mondello didn't make any statements about the nassau coliseum issue.

Who is running the Office over on Post Ave in Westbury these days?

in the long run

Jay Jay takes a cheap shot running robo calls against the Coliseum when the story about Hydrofracking at his camps breaks out in the Post. Jay Jay is against things until he can line his pocket or advance his own short term agenda by wounding his own community. Heck of a guy.

Essentially, Jacobs screwed a former ally of Suozzi in Charles Wang for short term political gain, and to the detriment of the people who could have had jobs building a new Coliseum. Jay Jay's days are probably numbered in politics, and this little episode on August 1 2011 won't save his fate. He can caucus with the NIFA Board one day in obscurity. Scum bags deserve each other.

Mangano appointees are running scared. Wang isn't Suozzi's friend. Wang is all about Wang. He didn't get to where he was by being a nice guy concerned for the welfare of the community - or computer associates would be giving away computers - not making billions and on top of that - oh gee - you have to remember the cute little financial scandal that happened on the cusp of Wang retiring where he left his general counsel and another holding the bag don't you? Of course Mangano hires felons who embezzle from their own company so doing a multi-million deal with the likes of that wouldn't bother him.

Jacobs didn't call me - or anyone else I know and we all voted no. It was a stupid stupid idea, it was ridiculous to think about borrowing all that money on the back of a huge, looming deficit for Mangano has no plan for closing - NIFA is the only thing saving us.

And Mangano created NIFA and voted for NIFA during the decade or so that he was obviously pretending to be a county legislator - he clearly was sleeping all the way through since he walked into his job completely oblivious to the way anything or anyone in the county worked.

Funny how the GOP managed to raise $80,000 of outside money to win an election in East Rockaway (1 sq mile, pop 10,000) and they couldn't bother with taking a side in the county referendum.

Not hard to explain. People campaigned for Ed. People were told tif they needed jobs or needed to get back on the pension system, they would get jobs they were qualified for. Rob told them there's a hiring freeze and didn't hire them. Holdovers kept getting paychecks. Rob Walker's buddies got jobs. Ed's family got jobs. Qualifications clearly not even an issue. Qualified campaigners quit working for their local clubs. Local clubs are pissed at Ed. Nobody has Ed's back.

Santino gets his people jobs in the Town of Hempstead. He choices the people who run in East Rockaway. Those people have support. As long as the money doesn't go to Ed people are fine.

If the project uses private money, why not let them do whatever the hell they want, if it'll make money? I mean, as long as your not a marxist, of course.

Is this good or bad for taxpayers? Or does that never factor into your thinking?

either way

Depends if they're qualified or not. Nothing wrong with using your connections - political or business - to get a job IF you're qualified. If the GOP controls, then they should reward their loyal base with jobs if they need them and want them and are qualified for them. A lesson Mangano & Walker are learning - the hard way. Why hire a democrat if there's an equally qualififed or dare I say it - better qualified republican to do the job? And there always are.

That's good for taxpayers - qualified workers loyal to management & willing to the go the extra mile for them - in and out of the office.

But if they are hiring unqualified people, or paying people ridiculously high salaries given their education and job function - that's not good for the taxpayers. Or covering up for completely incompetent people hired for the wrong job - like the animal hating bastards in the TOH animal shelter - that's bad for the taxpayers ..... and the party.

It's not about qualified vs. unqualified, it's about *creating* redundant, unnecessary jobs just to get re-elected. That's what's driving the county to insolvency.

That's because the people they are hiring are unqualified. Excess top heavy jobs just to give a job to someone is disgraceful and that must stop. But the reason they are duplicating services and jobs is because they are hiring to do the work - can't. They figure 4 unqualified people putting their heads together might pull it off instead of hiring 1 qualified person that is capable of holding things together.

I agree with this post. Rob and Ed are full of S.... The people who helped elect him and are qualified for a job get nothing. He hires felons and people who did nothing.

Like my wife on the TOH BZA and my Daughter in her newly created $105,000 position......don't expect me to share the wealth I just got by "winning" the LI Bus privatization contract.....

Best thing that ever happened to me was Chuck Schumer in '98.
