Mike should run for Gov. and ignore the so called leadership of the Republican Party. There is no leadership anymore. The party is being held captive by fat cats. People who know damm well they can't win election to office or have been rejected in the past by the voters.
As far as leadership in Nassau, the executive leaders should be ashamed of themselves for allowing one man to bully them for all these years especially after all he does is lose elections year after year.
Mike should stand up to him and the rest of the nay sayers and the let the rank and file Republicans decide who they want as a candidate not some dictator in Westbury. Grow a pair Mike, and don't be afraid of him, he's all hot air.

Mike is certainly talented enough and capable to be Governor, but the question you have to ask is: Is this the right time? With Spitzer in the wings, and the State party in decline, Mike would probably be better off waiting it out. Maybe run for Congress if and when McCarthy goes (or if he were inclined, which he's not, even taking her on).
A run for Gov. next year would be a certaion defeat, not something he needs right now, and he ahs the luxury of not doing that.
AG would be a far better move next year, but also far from a sure thing.

If you look at Levy's column today, clearly Mike wants to run but his seat would be in play. Who would the GOP run as his replacement? Who would the Dems put up?

Forget all the hoopla about the Governor's race. The most important issue for the State Republican Party is RETAINING THE STATE SENATE MAJORITY! A Balboni ego-driven statewide race puts his Senate seat in play--and it will probably flip Democratic. There is NO WAY the other Senate Republicans will allow Balboni to run. Mike has about 6 more months of this flirting before he will be forced to issue a statement running for re-election. You read it here first!
OMG
You have to be joking,
Balboni Statewide? Nah..

Balboni has too many problems on his right. He is positioned well as a centrist Republican, but the problem with this approach is that folks who want to vote for a Democrat will simply vote for a real Democrat, and conservative identifiers will stay home. Let's face it. Statewide, the Republicans scored on a single issue - capital punishment - and couldn't even keep that in effect on a policy level.
The Republicans and political right will only become viable in this state again if there is a massive taxpayer revolt against the apparachniks who drive up our taxes and make our state less competitive.

Senator Mike, at his July filing, had $536,000 on hand. Dr. Balboni was no where to be seen.
Ok right

He's done nothing to relieve financial pressures on the educated working class, middle class populace and seems to have no interest in doing so. It's a problem as far as I'm concerned. And a big one.
