Can someone please give us a recap of the convention last night? Did anything worthwhile happen?

Last Night's Dem Convention at the Uniondale Marriott was a first rate event. The food was even good and plentiful.

The Room was full, the speeches were short, and the company was excellent.

Jay Jacobs was re-elected Chairman without opposition, and without a single dissenting voice. He was nominated by Tom Suozzi, and there were seconds from May Neuberger, Wayne Hall, and a couple of others.

The Legislative Candidates were introduced. The Town Candidates were all introduced. Dot Goosby was a no show, which was just fine with most in attendence. Virtually all of the other candidates were there, except for a few of the judges.

Suozzi gave another excellent speech. Then everyone played Pin the Tail on the Schmitt.

Despite the balloons, and the forced attempt at gaiety and unity, the "event" was dull, and there did not seem to be many happy faces there. People were there because they were expected to be.
Casually implying that it is just as well that Dot Goosby was not there, is indicative of what is wrong with this chairman, and his crew. A great leader, or even a good leader, would have made every effort to bring everyone into the fold, and made everyone come because they wanted to be there, not because they were expected to be there. He still doesn't get it.

give me a break...Jacobs and Suozzi both got standing ovations. I found it interesting that none of the N. Hempstead candidates for office showed up.

The North Hempstead Democrats are still plotting, still waiting. Galante and Terry believe they can go it alone. Let's see what this year's election results bring.

You would think at least the legislature's clerk would have more loyalty to Tom & Co. for his job.

Why shouldn't any North Hempstead keep their options open?
What has the county party done to encourage any interest in or loyalty to a unity theme where everyone pulls together?
The main agenda at county HQs is EXCLUSION-they actively work at keeping people out;not bringing people in.
On Nov. 5th the only real victories will be up north. County HQs will have little to celebrate. The tragedy is that this what the "leadership" wants.
Here's to NH where you don't have to apologize for who you are.

Well, first of all there was no food at 7:30 when the event began - a couple three bottles of non-unon water, and a tacky table-top dispenser of water with a couple o' plastic cups was all we saw... saved money, no doubt!

And yes, contrary to the contrary posters above Norht Hempstead WAS well-represented by Joe Galante, who was remarkably upbeat for a guy who had just buried his dad (and the party's condolences were warm and sincere to Joe).

We saw D'Urso, Pollak, Wink, Schimel, KAiman, and the grande dame May in unison, so I don't think revolution's quite in the North Shore air this year (sigh)

The winds of revolution will blow east to west this winter.
When the election results are in and the full impact of
where the failures are and how they could have been averted, then the winds pick up.
Revolution IS coming.
