As hate-fueled as this particular case may be, it is commonplace across the Island to see chiefs hanging out in sandals and shorts at scenes, while at the same time scolding members standing no more than 4 feet away for not wearing full PPE.

you are 100% on the money when it comes to truck company and their arrogant ass attitude they all have. In my department, the truck company are 12 ounce studs and thats it. most are married to swamp pigs with over bit. They all run their jowls for all the world to hear after the call. god fucking forbid they actually make the call.

have to say.. as a current chief, i have FF's to do the assigned jobs, i respond (and i have to say i get real mad when i catch myself in shorts and flip flops) i at least put on the jacket, after positioning it away from the front of buildings and establishing a command post

structure fires.... (unless its out the windows) i walk to front door see what the story is, escort people out and stand by my truck... letting the FF be FF's

emergency type calls (co, etc)....i walk to front door see what the story is, escort people out and stand by my truck... letting the FF be FF's

car accidents.... position my vehicle to best stop or at least slow traffic, see if anyone is in EXTREME need of medical attention, see if its a pin, and walk back to my truck ..... letting FF be FF's

ill get my turn again, but for the mean time my very well trained FF's can handle anything tossed their way... so why do they need to push me out of the way. give them the respect (and space) they deserve and you will get it back 10-fold
