I couldn't agree more except I think the larger majority of C/O are already backing DeMarco. Vinny is obviously the only choice and although I do believe he will "right some wrongs" in the long run I think the C/Os will find him to be a honest, supportive Sheriff. I think you are in for a surprise. Tisch is no pushover and your friend DeMarco is unseasoned. What amazes me about you guys is that you don't look past your nose. Tisch's poor judging .. Do you compare a courtroom to the Olympics. Do you know what a judges function is on the bench during a trial. Do you think he supposed to hold up a card with a number on it. I am a uniformed employee at the SCSO , I have been here for five Sheriff's terms, four Sheriff's. I mind my own business, I do my job, and this job has given me the ability to provide for my family, provide for both my wife's and my futures. I have only started a new year with a contract in place one time in all those years. The PBA members cant say that, they've been catered to as long as they have existed, and why? Because they stick together, they have a clear message to their members, and they all want one thing - MONEY AND PERKS. We, (Deps and C/o's), have been missing the boat for so many years we should just forget about it.
Every time an election is near we pick one candidate and they pick the other. The candidates USE all of us to do their bidding, they pit us against each other and we allow it. You notice I am going to great lenghts so as not to tell you which job I am on - purposely done. I wish for once we could simply agree that we would pick a candidate together, and that we would establish a fund - together that would allow for ALL donations these guys would see from us. But the only way to do that is if we combine our unions as one. It would take an extremely strong man or woman to pull this off and one who could be trusted by all of us - but who and how do we do it? Until we join the unions, stop allowing them to pit us against each other - we are destined to sit back and accept the scraps that they are offering to the few who sell their souls to get ahead. Its no puzzle how Investigators are picked. Its no puzzle how bosses get made. Why are we allowing them to continue to push agendas that serve them. Remeber what I said earlier - I have been here for five terms. I am still here, they are all gone - except Tisch who is here now and could be gone as of January. The point is this is my lifelong career, for them it is either a political stepping stone or a politicians place to hide for a few more years or to build a larger pension. Enough already. Somebody stand up and start the conversations that need to take place and lets merge the unions, we dont necessarily have to merge the jobs, just the unions.
