Are there any FD's on Long Island that are not mired in cat-fighting, drama, and controversey?

Sounds like a scene from Melrose Place the way everyone talks on here.

I think it's a shame since just about all of Long Island is served by volunteer firefighters. We should be thanking them, not vilifying them.

It all seems so petty.

I was thinking of volunteering in my town, but I deal with this shit at work and at home. Would hate to think one has to wade through it when trying to serve the community.

I'm amazed fires get put out and people get help when everyone seems to be standing around pointing fingers and name calling.

There are politics in every department, some worse than others.

The fact is that it is nowhere near as bad as you see on this site though. The owner of the d6d6d6d6d6d6d6d6 Report tries very hard to delete anything that is positive (I'm sure this reply will be gone soon enough as well) & make us all look like a bunch of bumbling idiots. This is why nobody pays this site any mind, and more times than not, laugh at the content.

Miller Place runs a decent ship, good dept mostly good guys. As far as the fighting on here the majority of the negative posts come from do nothing, petty little babies upset that they don't get their way. The politics in depts do suck though but if you are joining for the right reasons you can look past it. AND I 100% AGREE THE THE GUY WHO RUNS THIS SITE ERASES ANYTHING GOOD.

The low-end FD's are the ones with the problems like Skelden, West Bab and Coram just to name a few. The majority of FD's are run well with little drama.
