27.41 Tax Hike, are they kidding.
$570,000 for pensions and insurance, we all know costs are going up but this is out of control.
They need $410,000 to fund sick and vacation time payouts to 2 retireing officers. This money should have been in the resurve fund already, the comptrolers office is going to have a field day with this.
Does their Fire Dept have a service awards program, is it fully funded?
Think any of this has to do with the big building they just built and all the black and white (small town feel) police cars

good idea, but villages aren't allowed to have reserve funds for retirement benefits.

First Off, Its Not Going To Be A 27 Percent Increase On Your Taxes, A Newsday Reporter Was Present At The Village Board Meeting On Monday, And Was Told On Tuesday That It Was Not Going To Be A 27 Percent Increase, Newsday For Starters Doesnt Like The Village Of Amityville, As For Blaming The Amityville Police Dept, For The Budget Increase Is Crazy, These Men And Women Work Hard Day In And Day Out, Working Nights, Holidays, Away From There Familys. Until The People On The Forum Walk In A Police Officers Shoes They Need To Check Themselves. Budgets Are Tight All Over, This Too Shall Pass, Until Then The Amityville Village Is Still The Best And Safest Place To Raise Your Family. And Yes Those Black And White Police Cars Are Needed Its To Serve And Protect.

Yes they are. And almost all do have a certain amount put aside for compensated abscenses which is what this is. Check with NYCOM of The Village Officials Association. Your wrong on this one and the Board should have been planning for this.

Drop the costly village. Suffolk County is good enough for 1.6 million other people to live in.
