This is a short list of Union Give Backs that could save Union Members jobs!
1. Blood Days, Employees receive 1/2 a day everytime they give blood. They can give 4 times and receive 2 extra days every year. They get paid for these days when they retire.
This would save the County $100,000 of dollars a year and save at least 5 Employee's from being laidoff.
2. Extra Sick Days for not calling in sick for a whole year Employees earn a extra 2 sick days. This adds to the cost when they retire.
This also costs the County $100,000 of dollars and should save at least 5 more Union Members.
3. Take Home Vehicles should be limited to Employee who called to work at least 18 times a year for an emergency. This should apply to both Exempt - Ordinance Employees and Union Members.
4. Police should follow the same guidelines for take home vehicles. Superior Officers should not be given a Take Home Vehicle just because they are promoted.
5. County should be purchasing Economy Cars. No more full size Cars for the police either.
6. Meal Money, when Employees work Overtime for more than 4 hours they receive extra half hour or an extra hour if they work more than 8 hours overtime.
This should be easy to find out how much it would save the County.
7. Meals, all Employees should be required to pay for there County supplied Meal. This applies mostly to the Jail and the Hospital.
8. County Rental Property, market value rents should be charged to everyone living on County Property. The Parks, College, and Hospital have hundreds of people living on County Property.
This could bring in $500,000 or more for the County
9. County Vehicles cannot leave the County. Anyone with a Take Home Vehicle cannot leave the County with it.
10. Police and any other Personnel who receive unlimited sick leave should not also receive Sick Days.
This should reduce the mustering out pay by more than 50%. And eliminate $500,000 severance checks.
11. Reduce the number of Days the Employee can be paid for to a maxium of 282 days or one year.
This would still give Employees a nice Bonus upon retirement and eliminate the sicking payouts that Newsday writes about. This will save the County millions and maybe save 15 or more Union Members.
12. Exempt and Ordinance Employees should have the same severance time rules as Union Members.
Anyone going to a County paid School has to use their own vehicle if it is outside the County.
These Perks are not given out in the Private Sector and could save a fellow Members or Your job!
