Whats up with Bohemia FD, Airport Fire Rescue & Sayville Ambulance Co.

Bohemia has had issues with thier dept and not showing up on quite a few alarms. CFR can respond to certain properties, and they are there to assist. Bohemia is not to thrilled. We should all be able to play in the sandbox. Be safe.

Call was at holiday inn on vets. Sayville Amb authorized airport FD to respond on ems calls there and a few other places on airport area that they normally dont respond to, and delta mva on vets near airport for ems only. Whole idea is to get an emt there asap, whatever the agency. But Bohemia doesnt like it. Issue is, they have no say on ems. Sayville Amb actually signs off on Bohemia allowing them to respond on their ems district for 1st responder services. Bohemia has lost sight on getting help to someone asap. Sayville Amb is doing the right thing for the people, but Bohemia can't handle it

Just go to the town and say so? It's that simple? You obviously have NO idea what you're talking about. The reason Bohemia is contracted is to get an emt to the patient's side quickly to stabilize until the ambulance gets there. The fact is Community's HQ is in south Sayville, so it just takes longer to get to Bohemia no matter what you do. Since Bohemia is either not showing lately or getting there after Community lately, they are no longer effective, so an alternate agency was asked to step up, which they gladly did. Bohemia just feels like their toes are being stepped on, so they are getting all pissy about the policy. They need to get over it and realize they DO. NOT control ems operations in the town, but Community does. They have no say in this, and if they had done the job right, this wouldn't even be necessary. CFR is doing what they obviously could not do, and they're mad about it. It's happening whether they like it or not, so get over it! Bohemia is acting like a spoiled little child about this, and they fail to realize Community could end their agreement altogether and they wouldn't be able to go on ems calls at all anymore. They are responding with our permission, not the other way around. Like I said, they have no control over ems operations. Community does not tell them how to put out fires, so they should not tell them how to run ems services. This is ultimately about patient care, and getting help to someone quickly, not petty politics. Community has tried going to the town like you suggest, about getting a building closer to Bohemia, but they do not want to help. Get your facts straight!

We i am not shocked that the morons from Bohemia take issue with this. Their 31 is an angry NYPD cop that has no business holding a gun or driving a chiefs car. For anyone to bitch about an emt getting to a patient quicker has to been a complete moron. That is exactly what this is about. Sayville Ambulance, who provides ems protection in Bohemia wants Airport Fire Rescue to respond to a few select locations adjacent to the airport with an EMT. Bohemia doesn't like this. Bohemia would be able to put up a good argument if they had an excellent response rate. They don't. So the ambulance chief wants an alternative to patient care. Kudos to those who put patients first...and shame on you Bohemia chiefs for putting your selfish needs first. I happen to know a decent amount of guys in Bohemia. They do have a lot of really good guys. This crap is being stirred by Bohemia 31, some Board members and a group of washed up ex-chiefs. Not to slow. We are stationed in south sayville hoping to get new quarters more centrally located. And love the last reply, we have been 24ed to Lakeland more than normal. We cover 5 towns and do it well, thank you very much. And we handle calls in a timely matter.

i cant speak for lakeland, but leave holbrook out of your little fight. we get out for all our calls and provide some m/a especially to sayville. not recently, but not too long ago. we dont 24.
