If You really worked for the County, You should fully understand the layoff system. Be very happy You were not rehired. You'd be one of the first out the door.

Now lets address the Souzzi Holdovers. Many, not all were switched into Civil Service Competitive and Non-Competitive Titles. Under the CSEA Contract they could not be laid off! Until the financial situation reached this level.

Anyone who is "Single and Seperate", will go first. Then the bump and retreat starts, but only within the Department.

It will be ugly and nasty! Layoff's totally ruin the moral of the County Workforce. Many of the Employee's who will be laid off will be stealing everything they can. It has happened everytime, bucket loaders, trailers, bob cats, cushman's, tri-plex mowers, chain-saw's, tools, everything!

But NIFA wants to force a TAX INCREASE and Mangano promised that He would not raise taxes. So NIFA"S Democratic friends will pay the price. The vast majority will be Souzzi People laid-off.

And the TAXPAYER will get hammered! Laidoff Workers will get their severance checks for their time. Overtime will increase at the Jail and Sewer Plants, and every County Employee will be angry and fearful of losing their job.

Martlin should know what it's like to get laidoff, Gov. Pataki canned him when he was on the Port Authority. A political hack's Job. So he has to attack the little people making $25,000 as laborers and clerks.

Rice isn't off the hook. She has accountability for serious crimes committed and not prosecuted in Nassau County, under her watch. Her administration doesn't have the excuse they were too short staffed. They spend years investigating public corruption and for the most part comes up empty.

its not too soon. its over. he has nobody in his corner. the democrats he coddled punched him in the stomach and are wrecking anything he attempts to do from the inside out. the outsiders are his former supporters who were told the jobs they were promised (and qualified for) arent coming because of a hiring freeze while real estate executives with high school diplomas and mommies with clerical experience get commissioner jobs and he increases his own personal staff while finding his whole family jobs. NOT doing something nobody expects him to do is meaningless. He said he wont raise taxes and by not raising them he isn't gaining points. He said he'd fix the property tax assessment system too. To most people that means a downward modification of the ridiculously overassessed property values our homes are priced with with an equal proportionate decrease in property taxes - not freezing the rates for the next 4 years while property values are plummeting even more. And he's raising the sales tax which hurts most people - whether or not they own a home - while the city is cutting out sales taxes completely. the county is falling apart. and he just doesnt have the management experience on his staff to fix it.
