Thank God I don't live in Amityville and depend on a fast response from the Fire Chief "30" for my call for assistance. That's a lot of gas/maintenance to respond to a call outside of the County. Brookly is too far don't tax payers in amityville care ???
I can see if you live in the next town over that's a different story.
How could you feel that it's ok to empty the pockets of village resident's just so you have a free ride to work??

The term "Fire Chief" is just a legalized synonym for THIEF!!!

>Keep in mind, some depts do not have to answer to the town. They get their money and that's it.<

If you receive a pension a tax break and a gym membership you are not a volunteer you are being compensated for your work. Websters dictionary= volunteer- a person who chooses freely to enter into any transaction with no promise of compensation. My concern is why do we need to pay pensions and taxbreaks for the over 200 so called volunteers. This would be the base for a paid DEPT. I feel Long Island would have a more cost effective and efficient fire department if we had a paid Department
