I read on a thread in another forum that "Dems" are challenging the Suffolk County Executive petitions of BOTH the Green and Liberal parties at the Board of Elections. If this is true, which Dem faction is doing the challenging? My guess would be the Bill Cunningham faction because there seems to exist a sort of "gentlemen's agreement" among party leaders in the county not to challenge the petitions of other parties, at least not on a validity-of-signatures basis.

No, it's the Schaffer/Levy/Dem OTB faction.
I guess Levy really HATES Liberals and Greens -- and Democrats!
It's the strangest reasoning, because together these two parties are lucky to get 5000 votes, in a county of 1.5M!
Also, the Liberals cross-endorsed a dozen Democrats, who now are also being challenged by their own party.
Besides, Levy is running in a primary where his opponent says he's too conservative.
What better way to prove you are a mean conservative than challenging two little, leftist hippie parties?
Way to go, Stevie -- you lost my vote!

"I guess Levy really HATES Liberals and Greens -- and Democrats!"
Yea, and Democrats!
Too bad. The Green Party has endorsed Steve in the past. I worked on his campaigns going back to the first in 1985.
Just proves what the number one of goal of the Democratic Party is, and it aint democracy. Tom Downey was right.
Basically takes Dems of of the running in the future for Green consideration.

Word is it was Jeff Casale, former Babylon Town leader and current Babylon IDA patronage cow, who filed general objections to the Green and Liberal petitions for CE. I guess we know his affiliations.
His claim to fame was buying donuts with his name on them for election workers.
I thought the Dems were a little smarter than this.
John Keenan has already filed his acceptance, and we would not put Cunningham on the Green line anyway, but maybe the Liberals should put him up as a replacement.

Jordan Wilson would be the first African-American candidate for Executive. It would be disgrace to turn our back on the african american community.

rsnyder6 (2 posts up), the Liberal Party has designated Jordan Wilson as its candidate so I doubt that it would now replace Wilson with Cunningham (even if there is still legal time to do so). With Cunningham's clear record as a nonliberal who was a partner in a political hack law firm that helps developers destroy what is left of nature on Long Island, I doubt that even the Liberal Party would cross-endorse him in any case. What puzzles me is why the Liberal Party backed Jordan Wilson in view of the fact that he is someone who -- though probably one of the most congenial and agreeable politicians in Suffolk-- is not philosophically liberal.

That was posted on Sunday before they filed the replacement (and in jest).

BTW, the names on the objections to the G&LP petitions for CE (as opposed to who is behind it) are Christopher Dempsey (who lives by me) and Thomas Mack from Islip.
