Just a simple Message to all union members: Don't panic!!! Don't let your union heads scare you into concessions. You may give back, then NIFA will come in anyway and take more. All unions have already given back, if you cave in now Nassau County will be back every year with thier hand out.

I say let NIFA come in! Why? I think NIFA will look at the County as a whole problem, then ananlize how to fix it. First objective is to stop the bleeding. Yes, they will freeze everything for awhile. But I don't think they will just focus on the unions and how to disect them. They will look into all areas. The areas our politician would rather them not see. So in part, NIFA might look at political patronage (a huge problem) Freeze the unions, raise taxes, and do an across the board enema of this county. That just might save it, no guareentees!

Of course the politicians are terrified, some of them might acutually go out in chains this time. And rightfully so! I realize that I'm screwed because of the years of County mismanagement. But at the same time, I'm not going to save their asses by giving away the store either. F@#$ Y$# !! It's time to go to the well and tap everyone, not just the county worker's... sorry... we can't save you this time!!! That being said, VOTE NO!!!

Sorry buddy, if NIFA comes in, the Unions are screwed. You wont have say about concessions. Instead, they'll just take take take. You're better with dealing with the administration.

Hey, I just read that Dollar General is opening 625 new stores and will be hiring 6,000 people. So cheer up, there is life after working in the public sector. :)

NIFA doesn't have authority to just take take take as you so eloquently put it.

They would freeze wages. The people it would hurt most are those closest to retirement and of course, the current Ruling Political Party of Nassau. It is the Republican Administration that will be seen as failures.

Vote "No" on what? NIFA is unaccountable to the electorate. It would take the legislature and governor acting together to alter NIFA's powers. Of course, the governor does have two immediate appointments. We'll be able to tell a great deal about NIFA by whom he appoints or re-appoints.

NIFA clearly has the authority to freeze wages. One might infer from NIFA's authority to review contracts that it has the authority to freeze hiring and even fire employees. NIFA clearly does not have the authority to raise taxes. Nobody at NIFA or in either the executive or legislative branches of county government has suggested that NIFA can, on its own, raise taxes.

NIFA can announce firings and then suggest to the legislature that a X% property tax increase will make the layoffs unnecessary.

Look for NIFA to demand real cuts and urge revenue enhancements before the axe falls. Don't look for NIFA to "partner" anything with anyone. There's nothing in the language of the statute defining the "control period" that implies any sort of partnership.

If NIFA declares a control period, the GOP is in deep trouble. The GOP needs to get a message out now that the control period is their idea. It's the only way to force cuts and avoid taxes increases.

Mangano should start thinking out of the box and listening to Foye. It's time to talk about serious pension reform. Partner with Cuomo and let Nassau become the prototype for defined contribution public employee pension plans in New York.

Mangano is not the GOP

Nifa comes in - Mangano & Walker are in deep trouble. The Gop needs to distance itself from them which it can easily do since the administration considered the needs of the still payrolled holdovers over the needs of their own supporters while budgeting for jobs. In fact, many of the Gop soldiers who witnessed people with high school diplomas who were previously real estate agents and clerks at insurance companies becoming executive staff and commissioners - while they were left out in the cold - support Nifa. They have nothing to lose.

All NIFA can do is freeze wages, they can not take away anything a Union already has. I think for th elong haul the Unions are btter off with NIFA coming in

Understood. Once they are in control they call the shots. I'm talking about the concessions Mangano wants right now to stave off NIFA coming in. He has to Jan 20th. He's looking to close the gap on the County's finance woes at the expense of the County worker's. I'm saying vote No prior to NIFA coming in. Let them come, make our inept County government accountable for thier actions......Finally!!!!!!

How is that diffrent from freezing wages ? Whatever you make when NIFA takes over is what you make till they leave. And increase in shift diff or holdiday pay is a raise and considered a wage
