Congratulations to the Mastic Fire Dept. for leading the efforts in averting what could have been a major disaster yesterday. Thanks to all the other fire departments, ambulance companies and everyone else who backed them up. Great job done by all.

Good job indeed.

But one thing. I dont think depts know what a signal 1 means

IT MEANS NO SIGNAL F U C KING 19's!!!!!!!!!

How obvious was FRES alert toning over depts doing their happy new year announcements. Some depts (like 4-2-0) don't get it!

It was an excellent job done by Mastic Chiefs, just look online at what propane could do.. Kudos to the fire fighters that walked into the cloud of propane to place hose lines to freeze the gas or try shutting it off. Just think at any given moment that could of ignited.. HATS OFF!!!! To all mutal aided departments, great response, I know it was kind of boring sitting around but if it would of ignited, what a different story we would be telling. Happy New Year everyone.

I see mastic chief is getting an award along with his department, I saw pictures of the scene as they were closing the leak and another fire fighter was on the line with mastics, which department was that? They had black turnout gear. Overall excellent job by all and great job to the chiefs...

How long do you think the vollies will be congratulating themselves and giving themselves awards for this non-event? How many buffs were hoping for an explosion and fire just for the opportunity to take a ton of pictures?

As a former member of the M.F.D, (yes, I said former...and current professional fireman), I'm really surprised Mr. D.J didn't f*ck things up like he used to back in the day.

I'm really surprised he's risen to the rank of Chief. Never thought he'd get that giant stick out of his ass, and his; I'm better than everyone attituded.

Anyways, just how long will these useless tax burdens congratulate themselves? Saw in Newsday today, they are praising the "Chief" as a hero. A hero for what? Calling in a professional Gas Company to find the defective valve? Well, in that case...congrats Mr. Hero for knowing how to use a cell phone.

What would you have done, put yourself in that situation at 1:00 am new years day with a huge cloud of gas hovering over the ground. Remember an expert with a gas company went in three times with the fire fighters and tried shutting it off but were not successful. Next time lets just have the gas continue to pour out and filled the area. Great call on using water and freezing it. Were you there?? Next time a situation happens like this leave your number so we can call you and you can come to the scene and be a hero next because your a career firefighter. Im a career firefighter to and if i can remember correctly so was DJ back in the day so fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

Wow...a real life PROFESSIONAL fireman. First off jackoff.....you should be calling yourself a firefighter...not a fireman. A fireman stokes the fire for steam engines. Secondly, if you're a professional FF...I assume you know how to steal crap from a fire scene like the rest of the guys in your PROFESSIONAL house does. Or , did they not let you in on that little secret yet.

Just give the chief props for what he did..and don't drag up the past because you didn't see eye to eye with the man. Wonder why you're no longer a member there???
