I figured with everything going on in the county with NIFA about to take over that NCCA would have some interesting commentary on the current affairs. Instead the big issue they grabbed hold of was gays in the military, seems to me like their priorities are a bit out of whack.

I did happen to find one article regarding the county back in September regarding the retiring millionaire police chiefs. The same article offered a positive view of Mangano even though he needed to borrow money to pay for the retirements.

Who are these people that write this obviously biased commentary.

They do have a lot to say on state and local issues too. It just looks like this state is going down hill. After Spitzer and Paterson, anyone is better. The problem is the Democrats that controlled the legislature and the governship was corrupt. How many went to jail? How many scandals in 4 years? Too many.

I was surprised to know that there is a racist organization on Long Island so out in the open so I went to the site.

Hugh Carey was probably one of the last mainstream Democrats in this state who understood that the tax and spend philosophy was destructive. I had to go back 30 years because there are no other examples including Republicans. Pataki did nothing after his first two years in office except to push the state further to destruction. Skelos was the Deputy majority leader, Bruno was the leader. Bruno did nothing to change the fiscal mess except to oppose the most excessive fiscal follies.

As to DADT, if you look at the discharge data, only 1% were kicked out for homosexuality as DADT was a "compromise" that worked. More then 85% of the 1% were due to declarations made by the the person who was discharged as their motivation was either political or they wanted out.

The issue of left and right must be taken in context. The majority of so called mainstream Newspapers, political websites, non for profits etc have a left wing viewpoint. Looking at this group, they at least discuss important issues, taxes, government reform, illegal immigration (same as national security), traditional marriage, protecting the first amendment if you want to express your faith, etc. How can that be out of the mainstream? Its not. The question is where do you fall? Your a liberal, just be honest.

Its nice to complain about one group who you disagree with but they have done things. They are at least trying. What have you done?? Where were you when the NC legislature tired to get double digit payraises several times?? Where were you when Suozzi raises taxes?? Where were you when all three towns councils raised their taxes?? Where were you when the most govts refused to post their line item budgets?? Where were you when the schools tried to keep raising school taxes??
