Rumor has it that this story was a plant by the GOP for a Peterson campaign issue. The second manufactured campaign issue, after the 19% Gulotta Tax issue that he's trying re-frame, will be to eradicate all mice from any County building.

During the campaign he'll be careful not to use the term rats in fear that the implication is that he's suggesting eradicating his breathren.

Other campaign ideas that are rumored to be percolating in GOP HQ for Peterson:

1) promise to re-pave all parking stripes in County lots so that the cars are not slanted, but parked perpindicular to the curb. Slanting results in excess taxing.

2) put a shadow-effect on all wording, numbers and seals adorning County vehicles, especially the PD sector cars. It would look real cool and cool results in lower taxes.

3) reduce the number of times County workers get paid each year to only once. Each County worker would get only one payroll check at the end of the year. This would clearly reduce taxes by reducing payroll expenses. Ignore the interest income issue on money left in the bank and book it as a recurring revenue instead of a one-shot (they've already learned not to build one-shots into their budget.)

4) a promise to South Shore residents that they will receive more attention by 1) expanding the jail by adding several wings to house people applying for Medicaid, 2) double the size of the hospital so that the vacancy rate jumps from 50% to 75% (just like old times), 3) every South Shore waterfront resident with recently built 4-story homes are eligible for free water ski lessons and a free waverunner.

5) a promise NOT to pull a PS by endorsing another unprecedented contract in history (ShOA) and then immediately suggest ways to control expenses in the jail would be to hire part-time staff (by recruiting from recent retirees) to fill spots that would otherwise be filled with full-timers (Corrections Officers). Instead, he'll promise to sign the contract, cover his eyes and ears with his hands and repeat over and over again that an increase in taxes is not necessary to cover generous contracts...one-shots, I mean an as yet to be identified recurring revenue (but not taxes!) will do the trick.

Impossible to do because there is nobody left to repaint the lines thanks to Souzzi
2) put a shadow-effect on all wording, numbers and seals adorning County vehicles, especially the PD sector cars. It would look real cool and cool results in lower taxes.

Are you actually speaking about the toy police cars that Souzzi make the cops drive around in or the nice big brand new fords that Souzzis political hacks are given, fully eqipped with police radios and police packages...... all from the police department budget.

And hopefully reduce the number of political patronage job that Souzzi tripled since he got into office...all on the taxpayers dime.4) a promise to South Shore residents that they will receive more attention by 1) expanding the jail by adding several wings to house people applying for Medicaid, 2) double the size of the hospital so that the vacancy rate jumps from 50% to 75% (just like old times), 3) every South Shore waterfront resident with recently built 4-story homes are eligible for free water ski lessons and a free waverunner.

Or we could build a jail on Souzzis piece of land up north. Tell me again what the story was behind that land deal?!?5) a promise NOT to pull a PS by endorsing another unprecedented contract in history (ShOA) and then immediately suggest ways to control expenses in the jail would be to hire part-time staff (by recruiting from recent retirees) to fill spots that would otherwise be filled with full-timers (Corrections Officers). Or Souzzi can raise taxes, hire more of his buddies and do whatever he feels like doing without checks and balances, as he's been doing for the past 4 years.

You're a Tommy Boy ass muncher who knows that the story was planted by your master. It makes closing down the DSS building seem all the better when in fact it's a ruse. It'll cost more to rent out the future home of DSS then what will be actualized in the sale of the DSS land and its parking lot. The taxpayers are being hoodwinked into thinking the sale of the DSS land is a win-win proposition. It's not. The land is being given away at a bargain basement price while the rent on the new place in Mitchell Field will gobble up the profit in less then 5 years. This land give away iis going to cost each taxpayer an arm, leg and piece of brain matter.

I think the lease is 25 years at 7 million per year. That's 175 million and we would still have to then buy land to build on if we wanted to move out of it. Add to that the cost of construction in the year 2029. That's a hell of a savings by moving them and renting space.

1010 Wins did a report about how the DSS workers were afraid to walk because the rats would run right underneath their feet.

Suozzi is giving merit increases to every employee who can catch a rat.

He says the rat house will be the first addition to his zoo.

He's very excited and hoping to find wild rabbits near the unused empty lot near the family court building which he failed to investigate despite the desperate need the court had for expansion.

The zoo in question will house not just rats but snakes and lemmings too. We encourage all Nassau taxpayers to visit seeing that it's being erected at their expense

What's a Bond Rating?
06-08-2005, 10:41 PM
1) Peterson will soon announce, to garner PBA support, that he's supporting the elimination of DellaRaba (quarter) days, and on their third and final workday each week their allowed to bring in their golf clubs and practice on the new practice tees he's installing in each precinct.

The rationale: higher Police morale = lower taxes (even offsetting the Gulotta like concessions he's prepared to give).

2) Eliminate the confusing alphanumeric bond rating system that Moody's et al use. That's what caused the bond rating collapse and subsequent skyrocket in debt expense (it wasn't mismanagement like ever Wall Street firm suggests) Instead, they'll simply rate the County as either a "D" or an "F". That way by the end of his term the grade will reflect the true value of the finances. It'll be the Republicans first valid attempt at a Multi-Year Plan.

Glue traps are barbarbic

The Health Department has mice to. The mice traps all over.

Why is the County using glue traps? They are inhuman (no pun intended). The mice are caught alive, squeeling and crying in pain because they have broken their legs in an attempt to free themselves - only to meet what kind of a death? What are the employees suppose to do when they hear/see these poor creatures trapped liked that? What do the exterminators do when they are presented with them? It's a terrible way to go - where's PETA? Where's the media - the press - the boycotts? I mean, we all know that Tom Suozzi is no animal lover - given the disgusting state that the Glen Cove animial shelter was in while he was Mayor. Starving animals laying in their own filth until he finally told the animal people who were daily complaining - you think you could do a better job? You manage it. And so Ms. Phillips did and the animal shelter has been running privately ever since. Much the same way Suozzi got disgusted with the mondane task of caring for the parks and he gave $3 million to his Democratic buddy Kaiman to take care of them for him - excluding non - TONH County taxpayers from using 9 parks while using County taxpayer money to fund the North Hempstead residents. Then he took his free green and yellow paint and ran around painting - not repairing or renovating - other County parks and putting a new bench and a couple donated flower pots in here and there during his election year bliz. Isn't that what they did in the Bronx when the President was coming - driving down the parkway passed the inner city ghettos there? They didn't want to see the embarassment they had there - but instead of making any substantial, and long ranging changes - they put up these big, cardboard posters whereby they painted beautiful landscapes of well maintained homes ect. Fine, until the first sunbaked paint peels back and you're back with the same corrosion you had to start with - except all the money is gone and not only that - you find yourself paying back the interest of that $50 million "parks" loan he floated. Were you better with a lower bond rating? I sure as hell was. I was much better off 4 years ago and my kids could afford to stay here. Not any more - sadly - 4 years of Suozzi and there is no more Nassau County left. It's almost all sold off. Bring me Peterson - and do it fast.

I hear he pushes old ladies into the street and can't stand the sunlight. Are you serious with this $@%%? Suozzi is a disaster. As evidenced by your rediculous email, you are too narrow minded to see it.

Actually he does

He pushes little old ladies who run churches on their private property into the street if they happen to be in the way of his redevelopment plans - or he has Kaiman do it for him - and don't forget how he's pushing the little old community spouses of nursing home patrons out on the street but going after their money and their income for medicaid reimbursements instead of waiting until they're both dead and going after the estate like the republicans did. Of course, there won't be many old ladies left for him to push around if he keeps raising property taxes the way he is and dribbling the money away on NYC idiots imported for the sole reason of getting him votes for a 2008 run at Albany. And no pal - nobody is kidding with that post. It's fact. The real facts that you are too blind to face up to. Suozzi thinks he can keep it from everyone. He can't. Only from the people who like to sing in the rain with rose colored glasses on.

Oh give it a rest. No one is pushing little old ladies or nursing home residents on the street. It's about time the county went after these welfare cheats. They go to an elder law attorney and shelter all their money 3 years before they apply for medicaid and you and i get to pay their bill !!!! Medicaid cost NYS about 45% of the entire state budget. Obviously a good chunk of that money went to pay nursing homes. The welfare system (cash, medicaid and food stamps) was designed to help poor people. Not people who make themselves poor on paper! You want to shell out your tax dollars to pay their nursing home and hospital bills, while they get to keep their money in the bank, be my guest. Stop asking me and all those struggling to pay their rent or make their mortgage payments every month.

So long as the law allows for transfer of property prior to nursing home placement and so long as Nassau Co allowed "spousel refusal" no one can be catagorized a "welfare cheat". Until the lawmakers in Albany and DC clamp down on transfer of any kind of property prior to nursing home placement the song remains the same. Oh and while we're at it the time has come to stop providing medical coverage to illegal aliens who are pregnant. Let them return to their native country for prenatal care. I as a taxpayer need not carry this burden nor the burden of that child once it's born here on US soil.
