Now that Levy has left his mark and the dust has settled one of his deputy appointments to head SCFR has bowed out. Levy appoints two "nice" guys who are in over there heads.
It not all lights and sirens and the one guy found out. I would not be surprised if the other "nice" guy bows out.
Lets wait and see. It does not diminish the contributions of these two "nice" guys to the volunteer fire service. :roll:

There will be no promotions because funds will be diverted to be used instead by the democrat county executive to explore the legal issues surrounding gay marriage, a topic close to the democrats heart.

Is it uniformly bad across the county with theses guys? Ex-chiefs who need a light and siren fix that responds to 35's then stands there and banters with everyone where they were when the call came in, how they weaved in and out of traffic to get there and how they saw the smoke.
They take a sheet full of info available to no one after it ends up in a bottom draw at the FRES HQ. Is that to make it look like their doing something?
Then they serve as a mouthpiece to call mutual aid when any one of four chiefs and assorted hanger-on-ers could do the same?
A concept that has outlived itself.

the dispatchers are horrible also,you can't hear a word they say when they transmit and when you call for info for an alarm they get nasty with you. shape up ok it's not my fault your job is shitty

Who invited the county "Stripes" command van to the No. Babylon Accident on Sunrise?
Talk about self-dispatch and responding when not requested. They should stand-fast and sit-tight until called.
Another layer of unnecesary Bullshitt to muck up a scene. Served no useful purpose , the No. Babylon command nevered request you.
Next time wait till you are requested and butt out! We don't need you preening for the cameras.
The answer to that question is two fold.
(1) The SC fire coordinators on scene requested the command van. I hope that this was a joint decision between the FRES and NBFD chiefs.
(2) The scene was enough of a cluster f---k, did you really want the cameras on you, or was it better that they were on the shinny white van with all the empty suits blabbering from out east.
I thought that Babylon Central Fire Alarms dispatched for the first division.

The mobile command post was requested by the North Babylon incident commander. listen to the fres 880 radio for all your future info. What does the mobile command post have to do with who dispatches NBFC

I'm new to this board, but I'm not new to the horrible volunteer system that we have in Suffolk County. I have been a volunteer on the east end of Suffolk County for about 17 years with both the fire service and the EMS service. I was reading some of the posts about the Suffolk County FRES moblie command post inviting themselves to the terrible crash on sunrise highway back in June. I find it absolutley appauling that the county would use such a horrible accident and terrible loss of life to ham it up for the camera's. I sure that Mr. Delagi, Myles Quinn, and Belinda Pagdanganan had a hand in sending that unit to the scene. I guess they just have to justify thier jobs. Can't have that shinny new vehicle sit around and collect dust, you have to justify the purchase of it to the public, or at least thier superiors.
My second issue that I have been reading about it the county dispatchers. I will have to go ahead and agree with who ever stated that you can barely understand them on the radio, and when you call them on the phone for information, you get nothing but an attitude. Listen, if you hate your job that much, find something else to do with your time. There is no reason for someone who is volunteering thier time away from thier families to have to get an attitude from someone sitting in a air conditioned (in the summer)/heated (in the winter) basement. It is just not right. Shape up or ship out, enough is enough. Oh, and just because your a dispatcher for the county doesn't make you better then anyone else that is riding the ambulance or the fire truck. So lose the attitude.

Are you that stupid to believe what you read on this report to be a fact. Do you really think county sent the command van on it's own, without being invited. I have a bridge to sell you, since your from out east the bridge goes from Sag Harbor to Shelter Island, I'll almost give it away. Listen you have no idea what your talking about. It's people like you who spread nonsense that isn't true to some other dumb asses who might believe you. I'm glad you said your a volunteer. I'm a volunteer also, I have been one for 20 years. The days of all volunteer ambulances is over (unless it's a meeting night or drill night) the volunteer system just doesn't work any more for signal 16's, for obvious reasons. Since I think your stupid I'll explain it, the paid are quicker to respond and always on duty. I can't say that about the volunteer service that I'm a part of. I hope you believe everything you read here, try some smart pills and believe the truth no the bs written here. Einstien out!

I don't believe everything that I read on this board, I believe some of the underlying facts that are twisted to satisfy ones personal agenda. If you read through the lines, you will see that real truth. Do you know for fact that Suffolk County EMS didn't send the command van on it's own, or are you just assuming that they didn't. I don't know for a fact that they sent it on thier own, all I was saying that if they did send it on their own just to ham it up for the news cameras that were on the scene, then that would just be wrong. I am really interested in that bridge your trying to sell, perhaps you can throw in the Brooklyn Bridge as well and we'll call it a deal. As far as the Paid system vs. the volunteer system, I will be the first to agree with you that the volunteer EMS system is in dire straits. Most departments already depend on the paid employees that they have. I read a letter to the editor in Suffolk Life not to long ago that spoke about the absolute need for a paid system in Suffolk County, I will have to agree with that man 100%. I have seen his name on this board, and he like to tell it like it is. Anyway, I'm not trying to spread false rumors or anything like that, just trying to find out the truth.

So, anyhow, maybe a moment could be taken to figure out who the players are. It can be said without reservation that Suffolk EMS did not shall not will not send its command van anywhere, let alone that particular alarm. This statement is firmly rooted in that Suffolk EMS doesn't own a command van, or pretty much anything else. FRES is the owner/operator of that resource as well as the others such as the decon ubits and stuff like that there. Mr Delagi has a Bronco that's so long in the tooth about all it's good for is a JOLT tournament...
That the vollie system is in dire straits is a truism. There are thousands of vollies out there in Suffolk. We aren't putting them to use properly. Our crisis is in leadership and management, not a lack of troops.

Delagi and his "EMS Raiders" wish they had a mobile command post to respond in! The boys in EMS are merely training officers and that is their only job... education and training... not buffing calls like some of them like to instead of doing their jobs! :roll:
Actually the problem IS a lack of troops that are NOT scumbags and are MOTIVATED! How many departments/companies have 5-6 people that do ALL the work and the rest are fork-and-knifers or dead wood? These people can not and will not be motivated by normal firehouse things like camraderie, leadership, doing a good deed, or anything else. What gets the scumbags down is LOSAP, a free meal, or something else that they can STEAL from the active members. Kick out the scumbags or the dead wood and keep the active members happy and active.

My Department has about 150 members, 10-15 of which are firefighters, 7 belong to 1 company.............

Actually, anonymous, you prove my point for me. Cleansing the ranks of those who drain the system rather than contribute is the job of the leaders/managers of our myriad agencies. Selecting and appointing quality and qualified leadership is the job of the membership,the way our system is designed. Probably not the best plan in the universe, but it's what we got. If we select leaders who do not enforce the rules and regulations that we have established, we get what we asked for. We need to select the best of the breed, not the most popular.
As to the "EMS Raiders", guys and gals that qualified, experienced and intelligent as they are welcome at any scene I'm running. BTW, EMS has better things to do with its budget than duplicate resources that already exist. Being the busiest course sponsor in the state pretty much keeps their plate full.

In Center Moriches they are called "BUMPER-SITTERS" They come almost every night (depending on who is dispatching) and mock the guys that do most if not all the work.
As for the "Fire Coordinators" I cant figure this out. With departments having as many as 4 Chiefs, a bunch of line officers and exchiefs, why do you need a political pawn to come to your fire scene and make all the mutual aid calls?

If you are going to make statement please make sure you know what you are talking about. Most are appointed by the local Chiefs Organzation, the rest are ex-chiefs, none are "political pawns, jerk if you say something make sure you know what you are saying.
This is why people look at us and think what a collection of jerks. I bet you wear FDNY items then knock the FDNY because you are a jerk, I am done I had my time God forbid the next ones coming up.

I love listening to all you armchair " fire fighters" on here. You forgot that most of the guys out there in FRES are FFs themselves. Look what they're working with out here in the fire world. They are doing the best they can with thousands of rules and regulations from 110 different agencies. Agencies who suck at ambulance response, and fail to respond to fires when called. Agencies run by a bunch of swelled head chiefs, and all the indians who want to be chief. Do some of the dispatchers have an attitude, sometimes. Why do you think that might be? I can't blame them. They're simply trying to get the calls out to the FDs and VACs. Sending help to the public is their job. Unfortunately the vollies have mucked up the system so bad with their piss poor attitudes and they forgot that the PUBLIC is who they serve, NOT THEMSELVES..The system here is composed of a bunch of wannebes who all want to be in charge, and want to do things THEIR WAY, regardless of the consequences. FFs right up to the B of Cs. Most of you wouldn't be able to manage your way out of a phone booth, if there were any left! The worst part of the vollie system is that no one takes responsibility for anything anymore, always covering their azzes, always looking to blame someone for the failings of the amateur system they call their own. God forbid someone like REMSCO should tell them to fix things or get out of the business. Grow up and do your jobs, for god sake, and stop whining. Or face the music that you little hobby may some day dry up and go paid.

I love listening to all you armchair " fire fighters" on here. You forgot that most of the guys out there in FRES are FFs themselves. Look what they're working with out here in the fire world. They are doing the best they can with thousands of rules and regulations from 110 different agencies. Agencies who suck at ambulance response, and fail to respond to fires when called. Agencies run by a bunch of swelled head chiefs, and all the indians who want to be chief. Do some of the dispatchers have an attitude, sometimes. Why do you think that might be? I can't blame them. They're simply trying to get the calls out to the FDs and VACs. Sending help to the public is their job. Unfortunately the vollies have mucked up the system so bad with their piss poor attitudes and they forgot that the PUBLIC is who they serve, NOT THEMSELVES..The system here is composed of a bunch of wannebes who all want to be in charge, and want to do things THEIR WAY, regardless of the consequences. FFs right up to the B of Cs. Most of you wouldn't be able to manage your way out of a phone booth, if there were any left! The worst part of the vollie system is that no one takes responsibility for anything anymore, always covering their azzes, always looking to blame someone for the failings of the amateur system they call their own. God forbid someone like REMSCO should tell them to fix things or get out of the business. Grow up and do your jobs, for god sake, and stop whining. Or face the music that you little hobby may some day dry up and go paid.
