If ALL of the county Committee people vote their conscience, then Ferrell , Rice, etc. don't have a chance and all this divisiveness and intimidation will stop TODAY! Jay can't have EVERYBODY fired. Who would be left to do the work?
Jay needs the County Committee people more than they need him. If you ALL stick together and vote your own vote the way you want to, Jay will learn that these tatics backfire!!!
He will have no incentive to ever use them again.

Conscience was the looser, while JJ and TS were the winners.
so very wrong j

How come he stopped the roll call vote before any of the Kouril freindly zones were counted? Oh yeah, because too many votes came in for Kouril in the zones he THOUGHT he controlled absolutley. Could it be that he was afraid that if the votes were actually counted he might not win???? Now we will never know, but it was so telling that Jay blinked first.
I don't think JJ won anything. Worse, he diverted attention away from TS and the rest of the ticket by engaging in petty meanspirited attacks on longtime party stalwarts. There was much that everybody in that room had to agree on--like the rest of the ticket and the importance of re electing TS by a nice fat margin so his coat tails will carry the rest. Why Jay would choose to make his entire speech be about an area of disagreement with HIM at the expense of the interests of the party at large is just so selfish. This is not any one person's personal dictatorship. Why can't we focus on the things that we agree on and act like civilized human beings?
JJ is not the party. He is only the chairman, and as he found out the hard way, County Committee people are not serfs AND they actually believe in democracy!

The vote was stopped to avoid wasting hours on a futile exercise.
Kouril spent more than one year trying to muster financial and party support for her candidacy and failed miserably on both fronts. She lacked the depth of experience, the charisma and the financial backing to run a credible race.
There are party leaders who wanted nothing more than a candidate to oppose Dillon who had the ability to actually win. Kouril in the professiona;l expertise of those who have to actually run the caampaign lacked the depth, experience and resources to be a viable candidate . Rice in contrast had all of the necessary attributes of a winner and thus the leaders chose to back her.
This being said , the vote was clearly going to Rice not because of party intimidation but because many respected party leaders were able to clearly articulate the reasons that Rice was the superior candidate and that she will actually win this race in November.

The above posting is probably the handiwork of Gerard Terry. The fallacy with his argument is that Kathleen Rice is a viable candidate. As everyone knows at this point, Rice, like Trish Farrell, is supposed to lose to the Republican candidate. If you don't believe me, ask Rice if she would want to raise Dillon's extreme anti-abortion stance and his protection of priest pedophiles as campaign issues. Ask her about whether the indictment of Legislator Denenberg was selective prosecution by the DA. Ask her about the Coward case in which the Third Circuit Court of Appeals blasted her handling of a routine criminal matter. Ask her about Butts v. The City of New York and Kathleen Rice. Every NCDC member knows about the extreme pressure exerted by Jay Jacobs and his cronies to get people to vote his way. Too bad they don't work as hard to defeat Republicans.

Again Cindy in a one woman campaign , unsupported by anyone, is seeking to attack the integrity of all the leaders of the party who are supporting Kathleen Rice: Bob McDonald, Steve Schlesinger , Judy Jacobs, Craig Johnson, Lisanne Altman, Joe Galante, Howard Weitzman, Larry Aaronson, and virtually everyone else - rather than harp on the fact that in 12 months she could raise but 12k for a race that will cost 50 times that. The party wants to back a candidate who can successfully challenge a 32 year incumbent. To that a candidate needs both fund raising ability and people-both of which Rice has and Kouril doesn't.
You cannot objectively look at the two potential candidates and clearly see which is the better one. Kathleen Rice clearly spoke her commitment to the need to protect both the rights of those who want to control their bodies and choose as well as the need to be proactive in protecting our children from society's predators.
There is a commitment from everyone involved to run a tough aggressive campaign against Denis Dillon and those of you know the people involved in the campaign will know that the commitment is real.
I am not Gerard.

I have never heard Cindy Kouril or anyone associated with her ever say ANYTHING about Judy Jacobs. Lisanne Altman. Craig Johnson. Howard Weiztman. Joe Galante or Larry Arronson having ANYTHING whatsoever to do with the back room deal done by Jay Jacobs, Schlessinger, McDOnald and Terry. It's a very small cabal people.
Stop trying to pretend that the rest of the ticket is happy about the way you are tearing the party apart.

Now we know what Dillon was threatening JJ with. If JJ and the NCDC backrrom deal guys didn't play ball with ole' Denis, he was going to launch a criminal investigation of TS based on info that's so stale it's gone green and fuzzy.
It seems like denis was willing to ignore the whisltblower allegations as long as Jj and company were letting him pick out the dem slate of candidates, but now that JJ has demonstrated that he can't deliver on the deal, Denis is taking it out on TS in the hopes of also destroying the down ticket candidates who need coat tails.
this is the nassau version of the nuclear option!

Your little theory has lots of holes in it. You are correct that Suozzi and Mr. Jacobs approached Dillon with the proposal of giving him the Democratic line. You are also correct that the Democratic hope was that voters would stay on the Democratic line when voting first for Suozzi, then Dillon. In order to be even remotely viable statewide, Mr. Suozzi has to demonstrate that his candidacy has "coattails" with respect to electing Democratic candidates below him on the ticket.
It was Jacobs, however, who was quoted in Newsday as suggesting that Dillon must at least agree ti remain silent about his opposition to abortion if he ran on the Democratic line.
The Democratic flirtation with Dillon was essentially one sided, as Mr. Dillon had left the Democrats nearly two decades ago after he had been drummed out of the Democratic fold because of his anti-abortion viewpoint. Ultimately, if Mr. Dillon uncovers any criminality regarding Mr. Suozzi and/or the Democratic Party, it would perhaps be a symptom of the same moral bankruptcy that Suozzi and the Democrats presented when they approached Dillon with their stinky cross endorsement plan in the first place.
You see, my dear friend. Not everyone who is active in Nassau County politics can be bought with a high five figure/low six figure salary public sector salary and a brand new spanking County issued automobile with government tags, blinking lights and blaring sirens. I am proud of Mr. Dillon's courageous stand and wish him the best on what will hopefully be another resounding triumph in 2005.
oh yeah, if it was so one sided, why did Dillon make a pilgrimage to JJ's camp in glen cove. Sort of looks like DD was the promary moving force behind this. And if you look at all the deals the nexis is always DD. Kathleen Rice is used to take out an opponnent who will expose his corruption ignoring, pedophile protecting gang obliviousness. Trish Ferrel is plucked out of his office. She admits that he advised her to run and offered to help with hewr race. The TOBAY slate put up against Venditto is a farce so that Venditto would stop talking about primarying Dillon.
the one thing that links all this crap together is Denis. He is the center of this corruption.

This is nothing new. Just look at most of the recent judicial candidates most were Republicans at one time with close ties to Dillon.
How about Harvey Levinson last year. He was Dillons number 2 man for years.
Now we have this years ticket. Farrell and McCommick both are former Dillon people.
The list goes on and on.
The NDCC is the Nassau Dillon Cronies Committee.
Bob McDonald is Denis Dillon's self proclaimed best friend.
