You're partly right. I NO LONGER live in Mineola. I moved out. The declining schools (some of which will now be closed) and the declining quality of life were nothing that I wanted to subject my children to. You say Martins lowered tax cert payments and got a new solid waste contract. Well where did the money go, because it certainly did not go to reducing taxes.

Martins is a lawyer and we pay John Spellman for legal advice. But they don't know the right way to get a job done and make it stick.

Union chiefs aren't stupid. They know that budget hearings are in the spring and that was the time to cut jobs to save money. Where is the cost savings? Martins gets a nice salary, Spellmen gets good $$$ and pension time accrual, we pay him to defend a lawsuit - more big bucks - and the secretary gets to collect unemployment while the union fights her battles.
