The social security smear mailing is stark proof that Steve Israel is grabbing his ass for ways to beat a superior candidate, John Gomez. Hey Steve! Do you even have a clue about the stock market or what your party has done to
destroy the possibility of boomers even getting a ss check in the future. I seriously doubt it! Your mailing is now in the bird cage where it belongs. Run on your voting record! Only a road apple would try to frighten seniors! Its bad enough they have to cope with O Bummer!

What does the stock market have to do with Social Security?

Israel is resorting to scare tactics as per Gomez supporting the stock market
for ss investment. Conservative equities on some basis would be prudent.
Even Buffet would tell you that. But lets scare everybody and provide zero
insight. I know some people who have made some serious money by investing
prudently in the market with dividend paying equities. What will treasuries
pay? And with the dems at the switch, god help us from these smug idiots!

Steve Israel and the Democrats know that lower income higher density housing brings in more Democrat voters.
This is a win win for local Democrat politicians who want the higher density population for re election purposes and the millions spent by developers to get what they want.
The area around these developments go down hill real quick. Middleclass flees thereby helping real estate brokers to sell houses and rentals.
Again the citizens suffer while Dems get power and rich from developers and from their attornys.
Biggest donation to Israel's warchest are lawyers.

I’m not sure which side Israel or Gomez are on with regard to Social Security, but thank God that we did not follow the BUSH/GINRICH plan for SS. Now picture this its 1998 and you just retied. You did what BUSH recommended and followed their plan and now have all you retirement funds invested in the private sector, stock market and real estate etc, It’s now 2008 and the stock market is down, most likely the Bush/GINRICH Real Estate is worth less that you paid and you can’t find a buyer and nobody is paying bills. OBG what do you do to pay your bills. I guess that “CONTRTACT WITH AMERICA” or “TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS” did not work. WHAT DO YOU DO NOW, I got it you now give the problem to someone else and blame them, enter Obama.
Now if you look to the NEW BUSH/GINRICH plan, You take away all the programs that people have come to rely on, SOCIAL SECURITY, FDIC/PENSION GURANTEE PROGRAM, etc. to solve our economic problems. Programs all people participate in; Left Wing Liberals, Right Wing Conservatives, and Tea Baggers, the latter don’t tell their friends about.
The one thing we have in America is security, taking away this financial security which these programs provide would be disastrous, and remove some of our financial comfort.
WOW, I guess I’m a LEFT WINGER, but I enjoy my Social Security I worked hard for it and the programs that provide me some protection. Which I would like to add the RIGHT side and TEA BAGGERS participate in. When the RIGHT stop using these programs I will, but after they stop
I don’t have the answer but eliminating programs will not help.

Depending on your age, how long you've collected and how long you will collect, you'll probably take out of SS more than you've contributed. That will probably not be the case for the younger generation of workers.
SS would be OK if 1) the politicians kept their hands off the $$ and 2) invested the $$ in treasuries. If I, as a private citizen ran an investment vehicle the was SS is run, I'd be put in prison. I would love to cut a deal with the govt. where they would give me back everything I contributed to SS, and I would have no further claim on the govt. to collect benefits.
The financial markets have been OK to me over the last dozen years. One thing you have to remember, people will always bitch when they lose $$ in the markets, they never talk about how much they made, that would be impolite.

The market had a major slide do to improper mortgages given to unqualified
homebuyers. The fed agencies were run by dems. And then Obama starts
talking about wealth transference, which creates a climate wherein there is no one to sell to. Throw in the hedge fund genuises and you have a cocktail of choas. I do not have a problem with Bush's iniatative to place funds in the stock market. But I do not like leverage and would servilely restrict hedge

On the Newsday Sunday article there is a link to the Newsday Siena poll. Although the cover story was on Paladino getting swamped by Cuomo, if you go to question number 12 on the poll, you find the following.
The poll is of 1001 Registered voters in Nassau and Suffolk County.
"As things stand now, if the election for your representative in the United States Congress were held today would you vote to re-elect your incumbent member of Congress or would you prefer someone else?
On registered voters across Nassau and Suffolk, the numbers are 38% for incumbent, 43% prefer someone else. On registered and likely voters, the numbers across Nassau and Suffolk are 38% for incumbents , 45% prefer someone else. Separately, in Suffolk, the base number for registered voters is 38% for the incumbent, 45% prefer someone else.
Throwing in the 2% bump for the likely voters you see on the general numbers, the Suffolk likely voter numbers would end up being 38% for the Suffolk incumbents and 47% prefer someone else.
There is a small portion of southern Islip which has Rep. Pete King, but the numbers generally reflect the 1st and 2nd District.
These numbers explain why Israel went so negative so broadly on Gomez, trying to define him as someone unacceptable. That would seem to be his only possible tactic with so much anti incumbent energy ready to go to the polls. Scaring the seniors with the made up story on Gomez (followed by the Project Vote Smart Public Statement condemning Israel for deliberately deceiving the public) works if the incumbent has millions to spend on false advertising and the challenger has only a couple hundred thousand.
The independent/other voter is heading the anti incumbent parade in Nassau/Suffolk with 49% Preferring someone else, and only 35% supporting the incumbent.

The letter means nothing- Fannie and Freddie don't do subprime.
The recent foray into the subprime mortgage market by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac has renewed the debate over their role in the affordable housing arena. The subprime market targets borrowers with credit problems or limited credit histories who do not qualify for cheaper, prime loans. Fannie and Freddie traditionally have purchased a small share of these loans, but this figure is expected to grow significantly in the next few years. Proponents say that the two huge intermediaries can bring better pricing for some subprime borrowers and help to curb predatory lending. Competitors and some analysts say they will only cream the least risky borrowers, making other subprime loans even more costly to borrowers who need them. Still others forecast that a bigger role in the subprime market may pave the way for making traditional prime loans more expensive for some borrowers.

Listen genius the DOW was at 7500 0n 8/1998. It is now over 11000. I suggest you find a calculator and do the math. The Government isn't giving that return.
And where was the Dow three years ago compared to now, genius? Not such a great return anymore, is it? Time to get a new calculator, I guess. Sorry to embarrass you, but somebody had to do it.

Steve shouldn't call himself fiscally conservative.
Now you're completely joking, right? Like I said, repubs are no different, and they are the ones who are always telling us how fiscally conservative they are.

The next person who sees Gomez in my neighborhood will be the first. Has anybody told him that Tuesday is election day? There's a thing called campaigning (and canvassing) that needs to be done before you can win.

John Gomez is the one who is hitting the pavement and his grass roots support is everywhere. Steve hides behind his job and the media. At a town hall event for the public Steve Israel had it by invitation only and you could not ask questions only newsday. It was a complete setup like they did in communist Soviet Union and China.
JOHN GOMEZ will be our next congressman from the second district.

You're a bigger moron than I thought. No, you idiot, I did not withdraw anything from the market when it was down. All I did was refute your point and show that you're an ass. Quit while you're behind.

Your analysis is incorrect when it comes to SS. But you go ahead and watch your money go down the drain. You can quit whenever you want to. I know the facts are stubborn things genius. Now go vote for the LIB Steve Israel and stop whining like a bitch.

Biggest donation to Israel's warchest are lawyers.
and they can work in big box stores with low pay and no benies, run by rich dudes who vote republican
