What is the School Board thinking,
First the PR disaster of charging little leaguers to play on the school fields.
Next they piss off every volunterr fireman and EMT by not offering the 10% tax break.
Then they decide to immediately put up the same budget which failed last week, for a second vote with no decrease in spending..
Now from the Northport blog, yesterday's Sunday NY Times shows that barely 1/10 of our 8th graders on the just released 2005 ELA assessments score at the top mastery level. Next door to us in Half Hollow Hills, 36% of the kids receive a score of 4. These are the kids who ultimately will do well in High School and get into the best colleges.
Why with all the money we spend do only 11% of our kids score at the top? while Northport has 17%, Elwood 26%??
Enough say no..
