Fire departments statewide can now put blue flashing lights on their emergency response vehicles so they can be seen from the rear, a move firefighters are hailing as a boon for rescuer safety. Backers of the just-signed state law, which takes effect immediately, say the lights will protect rescuers at emergency scenes where they are especially vulnerable to being hit by passing motorists.

Yeah, well I saw a Babylon Fire Marshall racing with blue and red lights on the front of his car last week. Is he a super federal agent or a lunatic? What give the fire marshall authority for blue or red lights? Not the VTL!

firematic supply puts them on the front of trucks they have sold, 100% illegal.

this is not an attack on east meadow, just an example.

Well, the fire commissioners should know better and remove them from the fire apparatus. The Babylon Town Board know better and remove both red and blue lights from the fire marshal vehicles. READ THE VTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They could put a .50 cal machine gun on the front and it wouldn't be legal

Who really gives a shit

It doesn't matter anyway what color lights are on our apparatus, retarded motorists never stop/yield anyway. So why would anyone really whine? Absolutely pointless.

Not long ago - blue lites were for volly personal cars only (1 per vehicle, yet that was unenforced ). Red & White for 'official' vehicles & green for vollie EMS personal vehicles. Then PD got to use blue, citing safety. Now fire trucks & ambulances too get blue. The next phase is the vollies loose these lites for their personel vehicles, so as not to look too much like 'official' vehicles. Quite a few other states have taken buff lites away from vollies. Here on LI, this would be devistating, as quite a few vollies have more lites on their PUV's than the rigs they are racing to get to. Oh, the drama

that's funny because Crimsons have put out a lot of fire all over the island. There are only 2 pumps made and both companies use both of them. The pumps get you water not the name of the truck.

Commack FD has had Blue Lights on front, back, top, side, bottom of their trucks for years, no one bothers them.

Many vollies have their personal cars lit up like carnival games, when the vtl clearly states 'a single blue light' . . .

So I dont think you can complain too loudly.

What, can't bulldoze the Feds like you can the local politicians? Get over it. Blue on the water means law enforcement.
