Anyone else catch the news today about the fire in Bayshore. Thank god for the SCPD (yes POLICE DEPARTMENT) for making all the rescues. Guess if the call came over as DRILL TEAM practice the FD would have gotten there quicker. Time to dump these lazy drunken punk volunteers and go PAID.... Id rather pay a little more and be safe then listen to the bullshit " IM A VOLUNTEER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I DIDNT RESPOND" well, my answer: YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDNT, THATS WHY THE POLICE MADE RESCUES AND NOT THE FD.

DID you think the police arrived first at the fire while on patrol heard the police dispatcher send them to a fire call and they did a great job in rescuing the people. Across america in community's paid and volunteer this occurs all the time.

hey lemme guess you are a 2 year wonder of a prestigues paid dept ?

As the last person posted the PD is on the road day and night and I dont want to take away anything from them because unless they are a firemen, its just as scary for them as it is for the people they are going to help. What I hate is the Monday moring quarterbacks who state how slow the FD is. How many times I heard when I was Chief about how long it took for the FD to get to the fire. When you go back and check the alarm tapes for the time the call was received and the time the first truck was on the road and then the scene you findout even in the middle of the night it was a total of 4 minutes. So, unless you get your ass out of bed and assist your local FD, SHUTUP! I like to add something else in there but I have more class than that. And no, I am not a member of the department in question.

Where you there? Sure the cops would get there first, they are in their cars and the PD puts out the call, as soon has they have an address! Thank You Mr SCPD for you in put . Give them an award and move on. This why FRES needs a full time PIO so we can put out what we do. Taking nothing away from SCPD, they did a good job, but to state BSFD did a bad job is wrong
