Nice to know congressman Steve Israel is looking out for us older folks. I guess if this is the way of Obama care I'll have to give up my health insurance which is private and go to government healthcare. I really liked my insurance up until now but our federal government knows whats best for me right ?

Question put to Congressman Steve Israel about Obama's Healthcare bill

HOW WILL THE BILL REDUCE THE COST OF HEALTH CARE?

ANSWER by congressman Steve Israel: Because our population is aging and medical technologies are improving, the cost of health care is expected to rise. This bill is intended to slow the rate of that increase. Here's how:

Competition: By creating a new Health Insurance Exchange and requiring insurance companies to compete against each other for your premium dollars, they will become more price sensitive. That lowers costs.

"Duh that ain't happening"

They should all be thrown out out office this November! With unemployment at 8%, they pushed a stimulus bill and said it will stop unemployment, get people back to work.
Well, they ignored the economy and the American worker and spent 18 months concoting a health care bill that no one knows the FULL effects of yet. It appears to dramatically increase everyones rates, but it has to! If you add all people previously uninsured, pre existing conditions, insurance companies will have greater payouts so they must charge higher premuims. And the bill was sold with 10 years of additional revenues and only 6 years of the expenses. Duh! I know enough math to realize once this baby gets rolling we will be in red ink!
Throw them out. This bill wasn't neccessary at this time, getting people back to work was, but Democratic Leadership imagine a monument being created with their name on it, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Anyone who helped push this agenda along should be voted out! Immediately!

I don't get your math or your logic. Part of the idea of the health care reform that was passed is to include people who were previously uninsured, yes. These tend to be the young healthy ones who prefer to gamble with their health and hope for the best. When they do get sick, we currently have to subsidize them. If they do join the rolls you will have more people paying into the system who will probably not receive a lot in payouts. That helps make the system solvent. It was necessary at this time because the system was broken and we weren't going to be able to afford it. Leaving the system alone would have been ridiculous and cruel. People who supported it will be getting my vote.

LOL- There is no math or logic to their view points. Its all about "me now" with no thought for the future. These are the same idiots who still think- lets give big tax breaks to biz and the wealthy. It dosnt matter that people can no longer afford to buy what biz is selling.

My only regret is Obama didnt do more in tearing down the system What we need is universal coverage. Everybody gets the same plan. If your a health care pro- use to making 7 figures- too bad. Now your making 5 figures. Dont like it- no problem- 20 doctors are waiting in the wings to fill your shoes!

Those 18 months would have been better spent getting people back to work. The only way that health care debacle squeaked by with CBO scoring was to calculate 10 years of additional revenues and delay the benefits, or expenses so you calculate 10 years of revenues vs 6 years of costs. Thats what made the bill deficit neutral. If guess thats the new math being taught in school nowadays.
Democrats are good at spending other peoples money, and as the Old Grand Lady, Maggie Thatcher once said, the only problem is one day they run out of your money

So's the wealthy. They spend their workers money on fancy lunches and cars and say-"well- its my money", than they right it off thier taxes as a business expense and cheat the system.

I still dont get your math. A business borrows money to buy its inventory- makes the sale- keeps the profit and repays the bank. How is your math any different?

Socialism. universal care is Socialism. Which is the American Way? NO! Everybody has medical care. Some have better care. Those that do generally WORK for that care. NOBODY in America is without Medical care. To many would rather pay for IPHONES and 150$ a month plans then their 100$ medical bill. Sorry, thats not American, or is it now. Lazy do nothing 49% of Americans not paying federal taxes. America's POOR live way to well, better than 99% of the World, including the worlds middle class and expect to live even better on sombody else's blood sweat and tears.

F-U Lazy do nothings. Goto work. Cancel your Iphone cell plan and you can but catastrophic medical coverage. 100$ bill for Dr visit w/out Insurance? pay it and put the Iphone and Big screen TV's down and new cars every few years. If you truely are poor, lame or disabled thats Medicaid which will even buy your DANG Asprin.

You folks can keep picking those racist scars all day long. But in the end- it will be socialism. Its always the same lying argument from you- you dont have money- gee- you must not work. Gee- you must smoke and have an expensive iphone.

Go to the mall someday- those arent poor people packed in the apple store. The poor dont own iphones you idiots.

The real problem with heath care is every time a wealthy person gets a wet fart- he gets MRI's, cat scans, blood work and consults with 10 different doctors. Sure- he pays a premium for his coverage- but the bill is 10 times what he paid in premiums. This is why your boss tells you I cant afford your health anymore.

One plan for everybody. Money should never had corrupted the health care system as you idiots allowed. And now because of your excess- you are going to have to pay for everybodies- oh well!

Oh- go ahead- blame freddy mac and Barny rank- lol- clearly it was their fault!

Try reading what you write. Americas poor are the folks who make less than 50 grand. Thats half the tax payers out there. 46 percent!. Were the working people who do the work so you can make the profits.

Im not going to read that propaganda bullshit. I dont need to- I live the life.

I make 35 grand a year- work a 50- week, have no healthcare- vacation time and havnt seen a raise in 10 years. Yes- I work in the private sector- the small biz dream you people keep talking about. My bosses do very well, family money is always sweet. Everytime there is a recession- they lay somebody off - spread the work to us and improve their bottom line.

Wake up and look around- wealthy people get MRI's every time they go to the hospital. My bosses daughter fainted a couple months back After 30 thousand dollars of tests- it was determined she had to many frappachinos from starbucks!!!

Have you been to an emergency room lately? I suspect not. This year I have been twice, when they thought I had insurance- they ordered every test under the sun! When I went back the second time and told them I had charity care- yes- as a full time worker I qualify for charity care- they barely even looked at me. BTW- the first time I had a thromboses hemorrhoid- the second time a heart attack!

You conservatives are either incredibly stupid or you know every word I am saying is true and you simply want to drain the system till we are all broke.

But the rub is this- I know how to live frugally- do you??

BAck on course, full speed ahead, everything was fine and every time some Republican tried to put the brakes on Fannie , Freddie and 2% down housing , but the Dems wouldnt let them, see quotes below:

House Financial Services Committee hearing, Sept. 10, 2003:

Rep. Barney Frank (D., Mass.): I worry, frankly, that there's a tension here. The more people, in my judgment, exaggerate a threat of safety and soundness, the more people conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury, which I do not see. I think we see entities that are fundamentally sound financially and withstand some of the disaster scenarios. .

Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.), speaking to Housing and Urban Development Secretary Mel Martinez:

Secretary Martinez, if it ain't broke, why do you want to fix it? Have the GSEs [government-sponsored enterprises] ever missed their housing goals?

* * *
House Financial Services Committee hearing, Sept. 25, 2003:

Rep. Frank: I do think I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness that we have in OCC [Office of the Comptroller of the Currency] and OTS [Office of Thrift Supervision]. I want to roll the dice a little bit more in this situation towards subsidized housing.

And since none of the health care reforms have kicked in- your increases are a result of your own abuses and lousy leadership from the last 8 years.

Representative Barney Frank said the mortgage giants were still vital to housing market.

The Massachusetts Democrat had been watching a morning news program that had me on, and soon afterward he was calling my cellphone to fume about that morning’s discussion. The topic? Why it has taken the government so long to address the fate of the zombie mortgage giants, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

It is an issue that has been talked about a lot of late.

“I take offense at the idea that we’ve done nothing,” he told me. Far from dragging its feet, he insisted, the government took the bold step of putting Fannie and Freddie into conservatorship in 2008. “There was no political fear to not do it.”

I asked the question that I hear from so many Americans: Why hasn’t the government tried to unwind and replace Fannie and Freddie, which have so far cost taxpayers $145 billion, more than any other bailed-out firm?

His response was counterintuitive — and as unsatisfying as it may sound, he’s right.

“There is no urgency,” he said.

Come again?

“We’ve already abolished Fannie and Freddie,” he said, referring to the government takeover. “Yes, we waited too long to fix it. But the money is not being lost by anything they are doing now.”

In other words, the sinkhole that is Fannie and Freddie — Freddie just said it needed an additional $1.8 billion and the Congressional Budget Office says the combined companies could cost taxpayers $389 billion over the next decade — is not a function of those firms making new loans that have gone bad, but the continued “bleeding,” as Mr. Frank put it, from previous loans made before the crisis that are still going belly-up.

Right- keep picking that scab. Try and find the facts to support what you claim. You cant.

And since none of the health care reforms have kicked in- your increases are a result of your own abuses and lousy leadership from the last 8 years.

And I have a news flash for you- nothing will change in November- the fiscal conservatives no longer have the money to buy their seats!!!

Ok so why are we paying for a program now when it doesnt start until 2014? To make it seem like it is cheaper than it is. Why ruin the best Medical care in the World? I know, to give equal care to all for unequal contributions.

Socialism, Communism. get it. Everybody in America is cared for. Nothing is free and was never meant to be. If your boss pays crap and has a crappy health plan, LEAVE. Again, the POOR in America are SPOILED rotten. There are winners and losers in this world, just like Little League until the Libs stop keeping score even if the kids still do. The kids soon get re-educated in school as to "fairness" in rewards but not in efforts.

It's destroying the greatest nation on Earth. Our Poor do very well. They cant have it all sorry, neither can I but I do work more than 17 hrs per work week per household. Cant YOU?

[QUOTE=bobby thompson;393167]What country are you referring to? Because BY NO MEASURE do we have the "best healthcare system in the world."[/QUOTE

Who does? Why do they? Who invents most medical techniques or drugs? Where do people go for treatment from the best?

Ok, ok. The UK and Canada have Universal healthcare. Those with money come here for quick and better care. Those who are denied life saving drugs and procedures b/c of cost to life care in those countries can write their Gov for help? Nope.

If we need to ration healthcare, or less care for the rich who do pay for it with their plans then what do we do under Obamacare? Cut care to the infirm, lame, retarded, disabled , stupid, old and poor? They are less valuable to the common good.

Q: What course is he talking about? The course that had us start 2 wars with no way to pay for them? The course that created a huge DHS bureaucracy with no way to pay for it? The course that increased the role of the federal government with No Child Left Behind and Medicare Part D? The course that drove the economy off a cliff? The course that was littered with corruption? Is he referring to THAT course?

A. It sure seems so. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Homeland Security, Forced upon us by the 911 Bi Partisan Committee, Strike 1,
No Child left Behind, Teddy Kennedy , Co wrote the bill, Strike 2,

But actually, we are referring to a new fiscal conservative course,
See PAul Ryan, Chris Christie, Mitch Daniels, they teach courses on how to govern within your taxpayers means.
Hmmm, Why is it that the states with the largest deficits on the verge of collapse were deep blue states,
California, Illinois, NY, NJ
Christie has stopped the bleeding in NJ, but all the Blue states, with large Democrat majorities, know how to do is spend your money,
Lets govern on a budget, without borrowing.

Your right- there are winners and losers. Life isnt fair. But no matter how you slice it- you will pay for our healthcare in the end. Be it taxes or increased premiums. Thats the cost of being a winner. And since the winners are shrinking substantially, you will pay even more.

Quit your whining and pay up! The longer we leave it alone- the more you will pay! lol

This whole conversation is ridiculous. 1) IF you have employer provided benefits you will now be taxed on those benefits. 2) Insurance rates WIlL double over the next five years. 3) If you do not now have benefits and cannot aford them you will be FINED (taxed) 3500. a year. 4) The quality of health care for the general populous will diminish. 5) Mediciad rolls WILL expand.

Behind every political idealogy is the evolutionary desire for capitalism. Replaced by monetary-ism, capitalism is but the acquisition of resources. It was born on the crossroads of trade and without it we would not only fail to generate wealth but also suffer the lack of vital resources. So it really becomes more a quetion of political involvement, more a question of what rights we the people can negotiate for ourselves, and how much of that wealth we are permitted to keep. Viewed in ths light, with socialism as the stepping stone, Marxism in its purest form is but a reform movement. No one denies the underlying precept - they are taking more from us so we in turn want more from them. But what has been absent in all of this is serious, informed, and intelligent debate. This healthcare bill is NOT the answer because it simply serves to exasperate.

This new bill does not address the cost curve, as promised, unless there is rationing, yes, death panels. You are too old to get a replacement hip, because it is too expensive.
It has already started, the FDA approved Avastin to treat breast cancer, now under pressure the administration, are withdrawing that approval. It is too expensive.
Perhaps you are correct and health care needs revamping, but not the debacle of a bill that was just bestowed upon us.

Barney Frank finally admits Democrats screwed up royally trying to inflate the housing market, admits some people are not cut out for home ownership!!!

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should be abolished rather than reformed as part of the Obama administration’s planned overhaul of the government’s role in housing finance, Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services committee, said on Tuesday.
“They should be abolished,” Frank said in an interview on Fox Business, when asked whether the mortgage giants should be elements in housing market reform. “They only question is what do you put in their place,” Frank said.
The Federal Housing Administration should be fully self-financing and Freddie and Fannie should be replaced with a new mechanism to help subsidize housing, Frank said in the interview.
“There is no more hybrid private-public,” the Massachusetts Democrat suggested. “If we want to subsidize housing then we could do it upfront and let the budget be clear about that.”
Why does Frank see the need to stop federal home-ownership initiatives?
“There were people in this society who for economic and, frankly, social reasons can’t and shouldn’t be homeowners,” Frank said. “I think we should, particularly, stop this assumption that you put everybody into homeownership.”
That’s certainly the lesson from the collapse of the housing bubble and the secondary derivative markets. It’s also a sea change for Frank. While he nearly dislocates his shoulder attempting to pat his own back by claiming that he has said this all along, it’s simply not true. Frank, in his role on the House Financial Services Committee, played a huge part in creating and maintaining the government intervention that severely distorted the lending markets. Whether or not he ever uttered a comment along the way about overdoing home ownership, Frank’s actions helped to create and maintain those policies, and he defended them repeatedly over the last twelve years

Transcript:

I think we have an excessive degree of concern right now about home ownership and its role in the economy. Obviously, speculation is never a good thing. But those who argue that housing prices are now at the point of a bubble seem to me to missing a very important point. Unlike previous examples we have had, where substantial excessive inflation of prices later caused some problems, we are talking here about an entity — home ownership, homes — where there is not the degree of leverage we have seen elsewhere. This is not the dot-com situation; we have problems with people having invested in business plans for which there was no reality. People building fiber-optic cable for which there was no need. Homes that are occupied may see an ebb and flow in the price at a certain percentage level, but you’re not going to see the collapse that you see when people talk about a bubble. And so, those of us on our committee in particular, will continue to push for home ownership.

Ya see now I get it. You get a LOWER credit score b/c YOU are a higher risk to Default costing the bank money. Doesnt that make sense? If you pay your bills you get a higher score, it's that simple. If you make more money you get a higher credit line. Simple really.

If you have a small house and sound happy as to what you do then GREAT. Enjoy life. You cant have a 40 foot boat though, neither do I! However the genius above gloats off of taking other peoples money. He/SHe has no understanding od America, at least what it was. America is living off other people's money. The Chinese!

Everybody in America lives substatially higher then the rest of the world and still they want more for less. Sorry, but the well is dry. Private Business is hoarding. the rich are hoarding. The Middle class is being reeled in to the poor. Thats Socialism. The Elite will remain. BUT now NOBODY will escape the plights of the poor ( cars, tv , cable, overfed, cell phones, etc ) to the middle class in the new America.

Your real change will last for a few years and then AMERICA will collapse like the USSR. Socialism FAILS. The UK collapsed as a world leader b/c it became more socialistic, ditto with France. get it.

Well- clearly those are some pretty shiny pearls. Even Im not that big of an asshole to see how damaging this is.

But this is certainly not the first time a politician has made damaging remarks for his party- "weapons of mass destruction, no child left behind....and he has a long list!)

But it does bring up some interesting questions. Anybody know the percentage of failed loans that were the 3 percent kind? What about the people who owned them. I have heard that a lot of the foreclosures out east are actually second homes that the wannabe wealthy simply could no longer afford or deal with. The advice they are given- walk away- let it foreclose.

The 3 foreclosures in my neighborhood were the result of layoffs. they simply could not find a job that equaled what they were earning.

Most people that I am aware of having trouble simply are being out taxed. My mortgage payment goes up 200 in Sept. This will hurt.

And what about success stories. How many people actually pulled it off and became homeowners because of the 3 percent down??

Its funny how nobody yet seems to know these answers!

In the end- with 50 percent of the tax payers making less than 50,000 a year and the average home going for around 300,000, 20 percent down is going to leave alot of vacant houses! And guess what- you will be making up the difference in the tax deficit! The homeowner cant afford it any more- it will be once again the wealthy and business!

Clearly there has to be a better way!

You are correct, many of the mortgages in default are 2nd home, or high price homes, but once the government pushed no down payment loans, to push home ownership for "all" they opened Pandoras box. Canada had their housing bubble in the 90's, switched to 20% downpayment for all, and had no problem with this last downturn. It is the Democrat principle to the less advantaged, noble perhaps, but they go about it all wrong. Taking from the rich to hand out to others just doesn't work. Find incentives to create more jobs, where if someone works hard they can succeed too, that would have better success and be less divisive between classes. Figure out a way to take money out of governments hands and get it into peoples hands who will work hard for it, give incentives to work hard. That at one time was the American way.

The repubs were in power, remember? Which means that Frank wasn't even chairman of his own committee. A republican was. And what was he doing or saying? Do you even know? And you do know that it was Phil Gramm who overturned Glass-Steagall, right (section 208)? And what did Barney Frank have to do with Goldman Sachs betting against the housing market? Or AIG not knowing what it was insuring? Or the collapse of Countrywide? Or Bear Stearns or Lehman Brothers? Oh, but somehow Frank had supreme power to singlehandedly destroy the economy. This is such conservative revisionist junk. And you get stupid and gullible people to buy into your crap.

The original push for a house in every pot (it once was a chicken) began in the 90's under Clinton. BArney pushed that agenda relentlessly, it was his "muse", so to speak. Politics is horse trading, Republicans from 2000 to 2006 wnated to dry up the cheap uncollateralized mortgages, Franks comments in 2005 showed his position, NO, lets roll the dice, I see no harm. For Barneys cooperation with their legislation, they had to leave housing alone.
Now we get into Banking. Without the Federal push for mortgages, there would not have been a mountain of bad loans. It was some wise banker , having to write shaky loans, agreed with the Feds to write more, only if Fannirand Freddie Mac would buy them, thus was born derivatives.
Not revisionist, just facts, however inconvenient they may be for you. If we kept mortgages collateralized with 20% down this whole mess would never have happened.

You are so ignorant I harldy know where to begin. First: CORRECTION: You obviously meant BUSH pushed his "Ownership Society" program. Second, I'll bet you couldn't even describe what a collateralized debt obligation is. Finally, again, Barney Frank wasn't even chairman of his own committee, so you're lying about the amount of power he had. But you need to lie so you can push your useless agenda. Sorry to correct you little boy, but leave the facts to the grownups.

Even Barney gave it up and admitted his Fannie and Freddie mortgage program was a bust, but the grass root lefties will choke on it before they admit their whole philosphical approach took us down!

A ownership society is there for those who earn it through hard work, sacrifice and savings. The democrat version is to have ownership given to many and hope they can make it.

Anyone who voted lockstep with Speaker Pelosi will get shown the door.
When the Dem's do not have the majority she will no longer be Speaker, and the reign of Terror will begin to subside. The eye of Sauron (The Obama)
and the 2 Towers (Reid and Pelosi must be taken down.)

Our little Hobbitts (Tea Party) have ventured forth from their shire, against their normal nature, because of the mess of the world. The Tea Party (Our little Hobbitts) came into existence only because our shire has been turned upside down, nothing is growing there are no green shoots. Even little Hobbitts finally say enough and venture forth into the realm of politics, and thus was born the Tea Party.
The sad part is the vile mud slung accusations tossed at all who oppose the 2 towers and the ONE. They must be racist!. Those under the evil spell of Sauron cannot believe anyone could possibly oppose their master and their ways, therefore they must be racist. This clarion call of racism further united and strenghened the little Hobbits, for they knew for their opposition to cavalierly toss out the race card, it is the opposition that is blind , and our Hobbits just became more resolved. The first episode will conclude in November, and I believe all the Hobbits of the shire will rise up and vote that day, and that day will be long remembered , for when the Hobbits stood thier ground against Sauron and the 2 Towers!

Americans arent against socialism. Just tell the union workers they no longer have their socialist unions! The fact is americans cant wait till we move forward and realize the inevitable. Only a fool or the wealthy dont want to see it happen.

And as far as Islamic- most Americans could care less. Again- only the ignorant sees a mosque as a threat. We have way too many problems to discuss than some ones beliefs or place of worship. This is just republican crap to get you to take your eye off the ball while they try and by their seats this Novemeber!.

Unions served their purpose up to 1960 or so. They then became a drag on the corporate balance sheet. Unions forced corporations to pay a livable wage and created safe working conditions. Now unions fight for the right to j7j7j7j7j7j7 (Teachers Union) , have bankrupt the auto industry. The US taxpayer is now paying the retirement and health benefits for the auto industry otherwise the companies would collapse. That was part of the bailout. State and local government budgets are fast sinking due to unmangable retiremnet pensions set up by the unions. The joke is many retired union members then leave the state to retire in a state with significantly less taxation. A good idea at one time, Unions , like Icarus, did not heed caution, flew too high and caused their own demise.

The mosque is not a threat, and no one looks at it like that. It is a clarion call emanating from the gut of most Americans that they show a little respect for those killed in the name of Islam and their hurting family and friends. If it is true the goal is to promote tolerance the first step would be to move the mosque further away.

Over 80% of political donations from the newsmedia are for the Democrats, they only carry water for the Democrats, but everyone expects that now and filters the news accordingly.

Senior executives, on-air personalities, producers, reporters, editors, writers and other self-identifying employees of ABC, CBS and NBC contributed more than $1 million to Democratic candidates and campaign committees in 2008, according to an analysis by The Examiner of data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.

The Democratic total of $1,020,816 was given by 1,160 employees of the three major broadcast television networks, with an average contribution of $880.

By contrast, only 193 of the employees contributed to Republican candidates and campaign committees, for a total of $142,863. The average Republican contribution was $744.

President Obama received 710 such contributions worth a total of $461,898, for an average contribution of $651 from the network employees. Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain received only 39 contributions totaling $26,926, for an average donation of $709.

All the people working for network and print media donated to Democrats.
The people presenting the "news" to us are all Democrat, Murdoch had a stroke of genuis when he designed Fox News, all the other news networks will fight over the liberal viewership while Fox has the conservative viewers all to themselves. Bitterly clinging to their guns and religion...A large swath of America still loves their religion and their guns

The Obama was not happy with the original Constitution as written, he complained it only states what the government cannot do, The Obama wants the governmemnt to do everything and anything, for the government knows best , especially more than those bitterly clinging ones....

America is being destroyed piece by piece by The Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

No buddy boy, there is no crying in politics! Nobody is whining, we just see the facts , what happened and will not let it happen again. The press will always favor democrats , a given. But 2 years of Democrat rule has ignited the flame of revolution across the nation, a election of unprecedented proportions will take place, and the world will be righted once again.

See the clips, the Obama doesn't respect our Constitution, and it will be his undoing.

"Unprecedented proportions" - how do you figure?

If all goes as it is trending, with no October suprises, looking at a 70 seat change in House , 10 or 11 seat swing in the Senate , both Houses of Congress flip..
Will settle for 50 seats in House and a New Speaker, and 6 Senate seats for now, In 2012 the Democrats will have to defend approximately 3 times as many Senate seats, result of the 2006 election , and the Senate will flip then.
Once Pelosi is gone this radical agenda will stop, and real compromise must be done for any new laws to be passed, nothing shoved down our throat like Health Care again. If the Healthcare was popular and actually did lower the deficit you wouldn't see 50 or mor eDemocrat House members loosing their seat.

They went after Bush - waahhhh - the press doesn't like republicans - waahhhh - I love Bush - wahhhhh!!!! Instead of wetting your panties, why not face up to the facts?? Bush screwed America. Do I need to go over it again? It's why your party got stomped in 2006 and 2008. You'll make up some of those gains this November, not all. Face it, this country was driven into the ditch by republicans. Doesn't take long to fall into a ditch, but it does take a while to dig out. You know the DEMOcrats have had Congress, both HOUSES since 2006. So that would be 4 years of their rule, meaning they were in charge. Again, IMO its the housing bubble ( -Fannie Democrat May and -Freddy Liberal Mac ) where people who shouldnt own homes did and bled all that fake equity out causing the bust and actually over boom. But hey, Entitlements are good. Your poor 17 hr a work week per poor household living better then the rest of the world wants even MORE for nothing. Dont educate yourself. Sit back, and let somebody else work for you. When their dont taking the rich peoples money, middle class goes next. Hopefully then YOU. POOR people in America have it tooo GOOD. Sorry. GOTO work. Make your own money. YOU cant have a BMW and IPHONE and HUGE new house. YOU didnt earn it.

But hey, follow Europes lead. To utter Failure. Funny how even they are pulling away from Socialism. We are rushing to it. Shame watching our kids become 2nd rate thanks to the adults wanting it all for free.

Whoa skippy, you're numbers might be a tad optimistic. You know as well as anyone the economy is driving the poll numbers. If unemployment is < 7% in two years then your pipe dream is over. In the meantime, you might regain the house, probably won't get the Senate and for the next 2 yrs you will have a president who will have every right to veto every single republican proposal.

There you go again.Republicans vs Democrats! By now you all should have realized that we are responsible for our own destiny. We have to do some research. Study your choices BEFORE we vote. Get involved! Do NOT sit and watch TV ads and think your making informed decisions. Let us hope some people are awakened and will be more enlightened. As opposed to what was advertised, general costs will be going up, this did not contain the "cost curve", as advertised.
There will be rationing, less availability to your preferred doctor, and Medicare and Medicaid, oh baby, the health care bill was passed based on the politicians claiming doctor reimbursement rates would be cut. Doctors are already refusing Medicaid as the reimbursement rate is too low. The proposed rate cuts, which made the bill deficit neutral, will NOT be enacted, basically they lied their balls off to pass this POS.
Oh, and finally, there will be a impending doctor shortage, there is no doctor encouraging their child to become a doctor, they do not want to work for the government, which is where this whole boondoggle is headed.

Democrats promised this bill would be deficit neutral, follow? To do so, the placed in the bill a PROMISE to cut Medicare ,Medicaid payment rates to doctors to make the bill deficit neutral. They have used this premise before, but Never cut the actual rates, doctors already are screaming bloody murder that medicare and medicaid payment rates are too low already. So this bill , passed on the premise it will not increase our deficit, was a outright LIE. Shocked I am, that politicians would lie to me, but when they do , I automatically vote them out. They had no intention of cutting the doctors payment rate, but they promised they would to fudge the budget numbers.

I see what my doctor collects when I get my health statements from the provider, that doesn't effect me. everything else I stated is also true

If the bill was a good one, Democrat politicians would shout it out in every campaign ad, except they have been told don't talk about health care in their campaign.
At least five House Democrats are running ads bragging about their votes against Obamacare. Surveys of ads run by candidates indicate that no Democrat has run an ad bragging about the health-care bill

He helped pass the Obama healthcare plan which is a form of socialized medicine. He ignores the fact that he did so in all his political ads. He also has ignored that many many people have had their personal healthcare insurance premiums go up as high as 40% higher do to the coming higher costs for the healthcare industry. These insurance companies fear being driven out of business by the lower cost government healthcare plans so they are trying to make more money now before this all starts going into effect.

It's just the opposite of what congressman Israel said it would do when he passed the @#$%in bill. Did he read it like all the other Democrats ?

Survey Finds Jump in Health Insurance Cost for IndividualsBy REED ABELSON
Published: June 21, 2010
Even as the nation was debating whether to overhaul the health insurance market, people who were buying coverage on their own were experiencing sharp increases in the cost of their policies, according to a survey released Monday.

A Health Insurer Pays More to Save (June 22, 2010)
Times Topic: Health Care ReformThose surveyed said they were faced with premium increases averaging 20 percent when they last sought to renew their coverage, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonprofit health policy research group, which conducted the survey in March and early April.

While some people switched to less expensive plans that offered less generous coverage, and others negotiated lower prices than their insurers initially requested, the people surveyed still reported an average increase of 13 percent on their health insurance costs.

Just how steep the increases have been in the market for individual insurance has been an open question since earlier this year, when Anthem Blue Cross tried to raise its rates by as much as 39 percent in California. The proposed increases were met with outrage from federal and state officials, but there was little information about how widespread such increases were in other parts of the country. Anthem, which is owned by WellPoint, one of the nation’s largest insurers, later withdrew its request to raise rates.

“The survey shows that the steep increases we have been reading about over the last several months are not just extreme cases,” said Drew Altman, the Kaiser foundation’s president and chief executive. He said the increases far outpaced those in the market for large employers buying coverage for their workers.

The findings also underscore the challenges that will continue to be faced by people in the individual market until changes under the new health care law go into effect in 2014, Mr. Altman said. About 14 million people under the age of 65 purchase their coverage in the individual market, according to Kaiser.

Health insurers say any rate increases reflect the rapid growth in the underlying cost of medical care. “The data show premiums track the underlying cost of health care,” said Robert Zirkelbach, a spokesman for America’s Health Insurance Plans, an industry trade association in Washington.

But the survey also provided a glimpse of what kind of coverage individuals are purchasing on their own. While people reported paying lower premiums than they would in a typical employer-provided plan, they also reported being in plans with much higher deductibles. While individuals reported paying average annual premiums of $3,606, according to the survey, they also reported an average deductible of nearly $2,500. One in four people report being in plans with an annual deductible of $5,000 or more.

Despite some of the well-publicized disputes between health insurers and state regulators over premium increases, there is little comprehensive information about the kinds of increases in rates individuals face when they buy insurance on their own. “We don’t have data on average premium increases,” said Mr. Zirkelbach, the industry spokesman, who noted the difficulty of tracking such information.

The survey was based on a random sample of 1,038 people who bought health insurance for themselves or for their families on their own. The survey’s margin of error was plus or minus four percentage points.

Very simple, fiscal conservative is not what we just went through for the past 2 years, actually the prior 8 also. The Bush version of Republicanism spent too much also, but the last 2 years went over the top. Yes there will be sacrifice, our current path is unsustainable. Even Europe has come to realize that their way is unsustainable, they are in the midst of changing their pensions system for starters.

Actually the helath care bill will be the Tea Party's best platform to run on in 2012, it will be the legislation that brings down The Obama. As Pelosi said, you have to pass it to see what is in it. We are just finding out. The insurance companies cannot afford all the new benefits, (prexisting conditions, children till 26, and more) at the same rate. Of course insurance had to go up. We will have a better view of the results of this debacle in 2012, it may just be the nail in The Obama's coffin. But there is a looong list and it is early.
pawlenty, barbour, Christie, Daniels, are all governors who, you know, have actually governed, as opposed to The Obama, before his coronation.
Thune, Pence in Congress are other options.

Dont like it- no problem- 20 doctors are waiting in the wings to fill your shoes!

ha ha. that is the biggest joke. doctors are leaving the field in droves. Overworked, lawsuits left and right...why didn't the dems provide tort relief?
Oh, I forgot, lawyers are all dems, cant cut off your fundraisers now.
That is why we have elections, you may vote for the Dems this November, but the warm and fuzzy feeling everyone had from electing the 1st black president is long gone, the young , happy students, the largest % of black voters ever, from 2008, will not be voting this November. Just like the tide, dems came in in 2008, and the the tide of 2010 will wash them out.

Romney is a outside shot, tea party supporters will accept a electable nominee, ,unlike Delaware,
But there is a looong list and it is early.
pawlenty, barbour, Christie, Daniels, are all governors who, you know, have actually governed, as opposed to The Obama, before his coronation.
Thune, Pence in Congress are other options.
There is no shortage of capable leaders.

Raise any terror threat levels lately? LOL

Yeah, every day that I read about the foreclosure rate, the unemployment rate, this country is terrified it has become a banana republic.

Let me see, ,Texas military base, Underwear bomber, Times Square bomber.
If not for the incompetence of the last 2 there would have been a lot more dead, nothing due to our competence.

Keep reminding people about this , it will help in November

He wants to build 2, just to keep them happy, maybe they won't blow anything up, we have to mollify all followers of Islam, because you know we cannot do anything to the Bible or Torah in this country, those radicl Catholics and wacky Jews would just go around killing everyone. And God forbid someone even think of putting a crucifix in a jar of urine, they would be dead the next day

The above quote makes think that there is truth there. The left wing media llike Newsrag NYTimes etc never touched on the story that congressman Steve Israel took thousands of dollars for his campaign warchest from an Iranian arms dealer who was recently arrested in Huntington. While president Obama and Pelosi and Reid praise Islam and diversity and even Hamas Steve Israel collects money from people who would exterminate the Jewish nation.

Nobody knew completely what was in .it or what the effects would be! Pelosia admitted that, you have to pass it to see what is in it! If you want European, Canadien healthcare, you might like it. Steve Israel is doubling down, He is running ads on the health care bill. At least I admire that, he voted for it, run on it. He won't get my vote ,but at least he is running on his healthcare vote. It gives the voters a clear choice

No, and we would vote Bush out of office also,
looking for a small government fiscal conservative. If running against Bush is all you have to offer, your well has run dry

Yo buddy boy, right out of the front of my mouth, no both sides here.
Take a good look around. How many Republican incumbants were primaried and lost, to Tea Party, low taxation politicians. The Message has been sent. Tax and spend Republicans will get primaried and removed from office. If the choice is a Tax and spend Republican or redistribute the income, open borders, Democrat, we will hold our nose and vote for the Republican, but they will be primaried next time out.
Blaming Bush is hilarious, that shows how bad the Democrats are, they have been in charge of COngress since 2006, the Presidency from 2008, and the best you guys got is Bush did it. You guys are hopeless and will be thrown out with the trash!

The Gomez for Congress website has a video showing a number of Huntington doctors talking about Obamacare. It seems pretty clear from the interviews with the doctors that they see this as the end of the doctor/patient relationship. Obamacare has accelerated the advantage of large hospital and health systems to exert their market influence, and, according to the doctors, you can thank Steve Israel for the demise of the small medical practice on Long Island. Get ready to speak to a nurse or physicians assistant after your eight hour wait at a health system screening facility. In other words, Steve israel decided that everyone in the Second Congressional District should accept that Medicaid will now be the standard of care. As Rudy Giuliani noted at the Gomez endorsement at the Thatched Cottage recently, this is the first time he is concerned for the future of the country. Turning 16% of the nation's economy over to the government against the wishes of the vast majority of the country? A 4% sales tax on the sale of your home to finance this boondoggle? It just gets worse as you find out more about it. Steve israel claimed at the News 12 debate that he read the whole Obamacare bill before he voted for it. It was not a mistake. He meant to insert a 4% sales tax on the sale of homes on Long Island. He wanted to destroy the doctors in Huntington and the people actually paying the bills. He wanted to redistribute their earnings to ever more people who do not pay a cent into the system. Why would any voter on Long Island look to reward this conduct?
