Tina and Peggy need to be sent a message, vote NO to the budget, vote NO to Psycho Jo Lang, yes to Mr. Goldfarb. Is there anything the voters can do to remove these two before their term is up? They are running roughshod over the public trust. Two princepals, forcing out a popular superintendent, huge unnecessary budget increases. They've politicized the school board and every decision that should made with the best interest of our children balenced against the taxpayers pocketbook. Families looking to purchase homes always look at the school district, most won't look twice at this one. Ralph Capone is fired from his job at Pat Med because he made sexual advances toward male students. The next day he's employed at Week's Boatyard. Manny Felouzis (yes, the Pat Med Board president's husband) is also employed at Week's Boatyard. Tina Weeks secretly tapes executive sessions then gives tapes to Ralph Capone. Wouldn't you think that Manny, and therefore Peggy Felouzis, knew about these tapes? I would. Ralph is suing the school district because of his dismissal. Tina, by giving these tapes to Ralph, is jeopardizing the future educational funding of all students attending all Pat Med schools. How sinister is this? What are the motives here? Something needs to be done. If the school board does not stand up and shout at this we have a serious problem. Weeks and Felouzis must step down. If Mostow cannot separate himself from this situation, if he cannot stand up and present himself to be opposed to this entire situation...his employment with the school district must also be examined. In addition, all decisions made by Weeks and Felouzis during their terms in office must be closely examined. There are motives out there that do not benefit our children!
I have a total loss of faith in our entire school board at this point. Someone needs to stand up, mention names and do something about this. this entire situation must be exposed and all who are in favor of what's going on must be dismissed.
How about Mostow...He' just another idiot in Tina & Peggy's back pocket. He was dismissed by Mr. Mills (NY commisioner of Ed) for insubordination at Roosevelt School Dist. His contract was bought out by several other districts on LI. He ruined them and it was just cheaper to buy him out and get rid of him. Doesn't anybody look into these people? He just wants a fat retirement on our wallet and he's made some under-the-table deal with Weeks and Felouzis at our expense.

Add to all of this when all these issues are coming to a crucial head is that there is an absent member of the BOE.

It is for health reasons, but they have been long term health issues and an absent vote during this period is not helping the district.

I applaud Mr. Brady's long and distinguished terms on the BOE, but this is a volunteer postion and we need someone in there and asking question rather than an empty chair.

Brian is a credit to Patchogue-Medford, but the taxpayers need a voice in this. There is no stigma attached to taking care of yourself and the district needs all the help it can get.

I don't see how voting NO for the budget is in this districts best interests. Even if the budget passes, we still have one of the lowest tax rates in Suffolk, still very attractive to potential home buyers. Case in point, the real estate market in Pat-Med area has gotten much hotter over the last couple of years. Voting NO will do nothing more than save dollars at the expense of the children. Vote NO enough, and property values suffer.
As for Tina Marie, if she did this (which I believe she did) then she will be forced out eventually. If Peggy had anything to do with it (not sure) then she should soon follow. It will become public, there is no doubt about that.

I agree with support the kids. Even if the budget fails, the school district is still going to have to pay for the health insurance and retirement for the teachers in this district. These costs may be out of control but they're contractual.

Also in the budget post about Pat-Med I was accused of being Christy Jo Lange just because i said something positive about the superintendent like I'm the only PTA mom who cares about the district. I don't think Christy Jo or Goldfarb are good candidates so I'm not voting at all. I am supportive of some of the Board members but not all... I keep reading in these posts that tina weeks is the board member who turned the tapes over - she is certainly not one of the Board members I support, and regardless who the person is that taped, I think they should resign even though its not against the law its against morals and ethics and isn't in the best interest of the community.

I was at the BOE mtg when the subject of the tapes came up, and I understood why members were upset but thought the way Mr. Kaiser behaved was terrible. Also, I noticed Collin Mincey nodding his head in agreement at times when Anthony Kaiser was yelling - Will we hear anything publicly from all BOE members - where do they stand on this?

I think we're all still looking for answers regardless of who we support.

Seems to me that this board, and especially Weeks, has alot to answer for. Lets review. Tina was there for all the following

1. Two HS principals ,now one. They said we needed two (BS) but not a peep about this since Locantore left. Beside lawsuits filed by both principals. Costly expieriment Blame Tina and co.

2. Consultants hired to watch consultants who consulted about consulting. all without board approvals Our money wasted, and they still are hiring more consultants STOP! Blame Tina and Co.

3. Last minute Supt contract BIG BUCKS! Starting salary $208,000.00 Up from #175,000.00 when Mcdermot left. Soon to be $265,000.00. They did this last minute with veronica also. 5 minutes before failed budget revote.they gave her a big raise, and she took it and ran (retire with nice fat pension) Thanks Tina et all Nothing said prior to budget vote budget called for $200,000.00
Nationwide search was a scam nothing more. Also provided another consultant with a job

4. Tina Taping: This violated her fuduciary responsibility to the district, as this involves a very expensive lawsuit, not to mention that all board members will have to get all new attorneys to represent them. I guess we will get stuck with that bill of course. Big Bucks this girl has cost us.
5. Actually i feel bad for Peggy. She has allowed herself to be led by Tina but she should also step down for her incompetence.

5. The people of this district have been led to believe that CTOP was a bad thing. This was spun by the teachers union because they were holding them at bay regarding their contracts, and trying to make them accountable, as well as the administration.
I would welcome the return of CTOP, and Tina was never a part of CTOP, they were at least fiscally responsible.

Not once in her full page Advance ad (gee, how much did that cost? ) does Tina Weeks even come close to apologizing to the district, the children and most importantly her fellow (past and present) BOE members who she either taped or disgraced.

Ms. Weeks what does it take for you to understand that no matter how much you may have felt that Mr. Capone had got a bum rap that it gave you no right to SECRETLY tape your fellow board members?

Start with the fact that it is a MAJORITY vote. If you really felt Capone was innocent then you should have spent more time presenting a case and persuading the board that you were right. Instead you were at Radio Shack buying batteries for your recorder.

Basically what your saying is that no matter what the binding vote is you are going to do whatever YOU think is right to get the results that YOU want. That chills me when I realize how many things you vote on and how much money you allot within the district.

Forgive me for saying so .... as a resident who is appalled at the action of Queen of Ethics Ms. Tina Marie Weeks ... it seems to me and friends of mine that the Committee to Restore Ethics and Larry Goldfarb's interest in this organization wouldn't be if he had won.

Taping executive session and giving it to people suing the district is bad enough...why are people trying to build a platform on it? Tina Marie Weeks should've resigned when her husband hired this man - its a conflict of interest. Helping his case as a BOE member is even more disgusting. People correctly wrote to the Attorney General and petitioned the commisioner for her removal...you know the loud mouth wench isn't going to resign - why not just wait for the commissioner to remove her. The only way she's off the Board is if she resigns which she won't do, loses or doesn't run next year both of which are real possibilities, or the Commish takes her off - although she created it and deserves it these public lynchings aren't good for the district. I was at the last mtg and Felouzis was the only one who didn't repudiate these actions. All the others including the two new ones have denounced what she did at the mtg and in the press. As usual, Gerry's comments in the paper were on the mark about Felouzis being a cat. as President how could she be the only member of the Board who hasn't responded to these allegations?

My children went through tremont and now my grandchildren do. You can't impagine how apauled I was to read Tina Marie Weeks letter to the community in the Long Island Advance this week. I voted for her twice now, and can't express my disappointment and how embarrassed I am about what she's done.

She used the Tremont Elementary School's motto - Stand tall, stick your neck out and do the right thing - as a philosophy that makes her actions of giving tapes over to the person who is suing the interests she was elected to protect. Well...let me just say that I have sympathy for this woman because there's something wrong with someone who thinks this is right. An arbitrator and the majority Board thought that man deserved to lose his job who is she to decide that she can just use vigilante justice to undue the will of the majority? If she wanted to do the right thing, there are various other things she could've done...I notice how she has faith that the State Education Committee will uphold what she did - how come she didn't look to them when she thought this man was being wronged? It would've been a lot better than giving it to someone suing the schools for $50MM.

Tremont parents and teachers should be offended that this woman would even dare use the school's name in that poor excuse of a letter which she didn't even admit to doing anything. I dont care what side your'e on - there's nothing honorable about what she did. Even her own supporters have spoken out against her actions. Because of this the budget will never have a chance of passing the second time around - this is a dark cloud that will continue to hurt our district long after she's gone. She should step down IMMEDIATELY so we can start to heal the wounds that she is responsible for.

If there wasn't anything said that these board members didn't want people to hear than (1) they wouldn't have been taped in the first place (2) it wouldn't help or hurt the capone case and (3) they wouldn't be in an uproar about it. But people calling Ralph capone a "homo" and other inapporpriate statements are rumored to be on these tapes, and perhaps Mrs. Weeks isn't the only person who the community should be attempting to lynch publicly. If the cowards on this site assigned their name to their comments and these Board members would've said publicly what they said behind closed doors there wouldn't be anything to hide. There are things discussed about children and there situation and disabilities that are confidential and are not the business of anyone but those involved with that childs education and the parents. Executive session is sacred ground for board members where many things have to be discussed with the guarentee of confidentiality, to suggest otherwise is probably why you 've never served on a board.

I disagree with you opinion but please don't make this about them. What Tina did was reprehensible and did not represent the interests of this community, something she took a solemn oath to do. Ok.. The Point I Am Trying To Make Is That While The Decision Making Process Is Taking Place...That It Should Not Matter If You Are Being Taped. It Shouldn't Matter...you are not paying attention to the facts of this outrageous and unethical behavior by Tina Weeks. It is not illegal to tape Executive Session, but if doing so, all parties must be aware that this closed door meeting is being taped. To secretly tape conversations and then provide the tapes to a party who is suing the district for a huge amount of money is, to say the very least, unethical, inappropriate and since I am not a lawyer, possibly illegal. Why would a board member want to provide information for a litigant to use to win millions of dollars from the school district where the board member has a fiduciary responsibility to protect? Does that make any sense to you? Does your pocket feel the pain that mine does?

This is not about whether board members made inappropriate statements about individuals behind closed doors, it is about the legality of secretly taping conversations and giving them to the person who is suing the district! If board members did, in fact, make inappropriate comments, that's another issue. We weren't behind those closed doors and shouldn't presume to know what was said. Don't lose sight of what Tina Weeks has done. She should be REMOVED from the BOE by the Commissioner of Education! RESIGNATION IS NOT ENOUGH!

Let me ask you, do you think for a moment that while Tina was secretly taping conversations in Executive Session, that she was thinking about how to make our district better for our children? Or, was she thinking, we have to get this custodian back his job because he was let go unfairly and having him back, will certainly improve the educational opportunities for the children of Patchogue-Medford - especially after the district pays out all that money to him! He could use it to buy books, computers and supplies for all the children in the district!

Don't lose sight of the fact the school board president is sitting there very quietly, hoping that no one will ask her questions about what happened. I imagine that Mr. Capone and Mr. Felouzis have had very interesting lunch time chats at their jobs at Weeks Boat Yard. Hmmm...CONFLICT???????

I should start by saying that while I don't see what on earth Tina Weeks was thinking I have to say to those that have uttered some of the most cruel and vile things I can remember reading...about the fact that she can't have children - and some of the names you've called her - you're just empowering her to be a victim. History has taught us that in this school district people will be just as turned off by the tactics and measures people have taken as they are with what Tina Weeks did.

I don't blame the Board for not removing Weeks - no one even knows whats on the tapes except for weeks and the custodian. So this "ethical group" has petitioned the Commissioner to intervene - why not follow what his recommendation will be? I think it is deplorable for someone who is supposed to be making decisions in the best interest of the school district to put the district in such jeopardy but reading some of these posts is equally shameful. In one breath you're talking about your children and in the other you're acting like trash.

Whether people are interested on runing next year like the two people that seem to be the picks of choice amongst this mean-spiritedness - I wouldn't even want my name associated with this kind of negativity. The point is nobody should tape anyone without their PRIOR knowledge unless you are a law agency with a judge approved wiretap or taping and grounds for the belief that the taping will turn up some sort of wrongdoing. Weeks certainly wasn't playing Elliot Ness here. There was never any mention (even by her) that the board was doing anything illegal, she just didn't like the majority decision that was made where she was on the minority side.

I for one kept asking about Capone's status in a criminal court, but again that has nothing to with the ethics of taping fellow board members nor the intelligence of giving those tapes to someone who is suing the district for millions of dollars. Her handing over the tapes that she recorded to somebody who is the originator of a civil lawsuit against the district violates her oath to look out for the districts best interests. That action and that one only should be enough of a reason to make her resign and since that is not going to happen than be removed.

For the posters who questioned and made accusations about executive boards these things are not cloak and dagger issues here. All minutes are read for informational purposes and any recommendations made by it must be voted on in a general meeting. Executive sessions are a useful and essential part of any organization whether a school board or a volunteer fire department. So please don't try making Weeks out to be some crusading exposer of dark secrets and protector of our children.

My only rebut is the point that the hiring of Capone at the boatyard, immediately after losing his position at the school district, was a red flag and should have been called to the table immediately by Felouzis and the rest of the board. I read all the comments about Capone's guilt or innocence. Who said what, who inferred what, etc ... . Capone's culpabilty will be decided in criminal and civil court. I have my opinions on that based on what I've heard around town and here. Obviously, the facts will come out before a judge and I'm not on his jury.

I've read about what board members have said and did. And who was in bed (figurativly and literally) with each other. It seems everybody knows who's gay, racist, drinking and everything else. I hate to say it folks, but that really does not matter on whether Tina Weeks should resign or be removed from the PM BofE.

The FACT is that the SITTING VICE PRESIDENT of the BOE ... T-A-P-E-D the rest of the board WITHOUT their knowledge or permission while in an EXECUTIVE session. This would be more than enough to ask for a resignation, but then as a sworn officer of the district she turns around and GIVES THE TAPE to a person who is SUING said district in a MULTI-MILLION dollar lawsuit potentially costing that district financial damages.

I don't care if the boatyard employs Capone, Felouzis or the Rikers Island football team. I don't want to know who's sleeping with who, who has children, who can't have children (and how pray tell would you be privy to that information?) or anything else.

Weeks should have had the "dignity" to resign after the discovery of the hidden taping and handing them over to a man who was let go after a MAJORITY vote. Since she has chosen to stonewall it then the state should have her removed based on these two issues and nothing else.

As far as the budget, what have you heard? There has been nothing out on what was cut, what was added or what was moved around. Or is the board to busy dealing with this crap to focus on a NEW CHANGED budget and not the same warmed up leftovers. But don't blame the residents or taxpayers for still being upset or angry this is a MAJOR issue and what good is budget figures if because of her actions we pay a big bucks settlement.

The personal attacks and facts of the capone case are getting us away from the point: that Tina Weeks' decision not just to tape but to give these tapes to someone suing the district is wrong and corrupt. Aparently, Board members got a letter from the distrcts' lawyers telling them that Tina Tripp is planning to sue the Board members who voted against giving her a lawyer. That would be LoSchiavo, Mincy, Felouzis and Myles. Brady and Kaiser weren't at the mtg. Suing them for making her pay her own legal fees for the crisis SHE createD!. Last night at the scholarship night they said that you'd need a knife to cut the tension between Tripp and Mincy. I thought she was crazy before but now I know something's not right with this lady. Screw making her resign, put in her in a straightjacket.

An amendment can be added on only AFTER the person proposing the main motion agrees to the amendment, the amendment is voted and then the whole amended motion is voted.

I can understand Artie Fucillo's rage about these tapes and I'm all for him leading this effort as a former school board member. The district got an attorney to review the EXECUTIVE SESSION tapes that Tina stupidly recorded because a judge was ruling on whether they'd be allowed in the Capone case. How can the attorney representing the district argue on whether they're admissable or not if they don't know what's on it!? She did give the tapes to the lawyers but the lawyer is not reviewing minutes of Board meeting they are reviewing what information may be on hte tape that is damaging or confidential from executive session. Thats the first thing.

Several districts use Syntax Communications to do their literature, newsletters, presentations, and cover major events like those on the district website. Let secretaries and administrators do real work and do their jobs so they're not wasting taxpayer money getting paid to paste pictures and choosing pretty fonts on newsletters which used to happen under MacDermot.

I happen to think the PMCT doesn't give a crap about anyone but themselves but they are getting their raises and pay whether the budget passes or not. So how you think you're getting back at them by voting no for a budget is beyond me.

Voting "no" is the lazy way out ? !

Lazy is serving up the same budget warmed over with the numbers just shuffled around and saying to the residents "take it or leave it". Lazy is trying to scare the taxpayers with cries of "no kindergarten" (wrong) and "you only hurt the kids". Lazy is using the "A" word (austerity) rather than actually sitting down and crunching the numers and cutting some fat.

Lazy is all these adminstrators and teachers in empty classrooms because the students have moved away because their parents can't pay their taxes anymore.

Compare PM teachers salaries with some of our richer school districts .. they are not hurting. What is hurting is the struggling middle class towns of Patchogue and Medford.

This is not the same budget. @34 teaching positions have been eliminated along with JV9 sports, sections of transportation (field trip and late buses), curriculum writing, staff development, parts of the music program, yada yada yada.

PMRes1 has hit the nail on the head once again! This is not the same budget that's why the increase has gone down by 6% which is a great deal of money. I'm sick and tired of people trying to prove points by voting no on the budget because teacher's salaries are too high. Whether we're on austerity or not (yes the a word because it is a reality) you're still going to pay those salaries...so keep a lid on teachers salaries until we as a community can do something about it and that is next year at negotiation time where for the first time since CToP the majority of the Board is not in bed with the teacher's union - by July only 2 will have been endorsed by them...Brady and LoShivo.

The other thing is EVERY YEAR people say that taxpayers are threatened when the budget goes down. They are simply telling us what will be cut if it doesn't pass because they have to continue to cut things. What would you rather be informed or ignorant of the facts? Perhaps they shouldn't say anything about cutting kindegarten and then when the revote goes down they just eliminate it and yell "surprise all you parents who have kids going to kindegarten .. guess what? there won't be any!" Then you'll want to riot. You people are such hypocrites. This superintedent and Board obviously can't please all the people all the time. But it really pisses me off that people call this revote budget the same old budget. Brett Houdek annoys the hell out of me with his pompousness but he would make a better choice, because of his knowledge base .I just don't think Goldfarb knows enough about the issues to make a difference.

Noreena Sperl should run.

I'm anti CTOP, but I'd take a real close look at Noreena Sperl. She's certainly intelligent and I don't think she's easily fooled or coerced. From what I've heard, her husband was one of the more moderate Ctop thinkers when he was on the board. Fiscal constraint is the #1 issue that BOE will have to deal with, and having her voice on the board may help create a healthier balance.

I agree Sperl would make a much better candidate than Goldfarb or Houdek who were mentioned previously. Plus she works in forensic auditing for the county.

as there are three if not four seats up for election in May, there's little doubt Mrs. Sperl would be a fine addition to the board.
Goldfarb lost by less than 8% margin last May (not so decisively) and, if the campaign were to be another 2 or three weeks longer would have beaten Lang. There's no doubt at this point he'd have been a better, thinking person sitting in that seat, not a bobble-headed puppet. Personally, I'll be carrying around his petition for candidacy when the time comes, as I did last year.

POINT OF REFERENCE: Mr. Goldfarb lost in every single voting precinct and Lang was tapped to run for that seat and announced her candidacy almost 2 wks after he declared he was running. So keep telling yourself that Larry.

I think through everything I have seen, heard and read that Tina made a mistake actually several. Even though she helped the Capone's BIG TIME by giving them the tapes these tapes give the Capones such leverage it's not going to be fun in court for the opposing party, but if what I heard is correct about her calling to switch the attorney representing the Capone case to get Ralph fired and then after that fire the firm that represented the distict, then help Ralph w/giving him the tapes, that's really bad for Tina! Anyhow, I have heard some of what is on the tapes and it is not going to be good for anyone that's sitting in on this session. Kaiser is heard to say "The guy is gay" Christopher Clayton LLP is heard to talk about how his uncle Mike became gay and moved in w/his boyfriend, and it took 4 months to render this decision and that didn't seem to bother any of the board members, they sat by quietly while CLayton did a 2nd investigation, so all in all it's not going to be good for anyone.
